From Warner Bros. Pictures comes the feature film “Blue Beetle,” marking the DC Super Hero’s first time on the big screen. The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, stars Xolo Maridueña in the title role as well as his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.
Starring alongside Maridueña (“Cobra Kai”) are Adriana Barraza (“Rambo: Last Blood,” “Thor”), Damían Alcázar (“Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico”), Elpidia Carrillo (“Mayans M.C.,” the “Predator” films), Bruna Marquezine (“Maldivas,” “God Save the King”), Raoul Max Trujillo (the “Sicario” films, “Mayans M.C.”), with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (“Monarch,” “Dead Man Walking”), and George Lopez (the “Rio and “Smurf” franchises). The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “Hocus Pocus 2”) and Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”). Soto (“Charm City Kings,” “The Farm”) directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (“Miss Bala”), based on characters from DC. John Rickard and Zev Foreman are producing, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.
The director’s creative team behind the scenes includes director of photography Pawel Pogorzelski (“Midsommar,” “Hereditary”), production designer John Billington (“Bad Boys for Life”), editor Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “The Lost City”), Oscar-nominated costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo (“Jojo Rabbit,” the “Thor” films), visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain (“The Suicide Squad,” “Aquaman”) and composer Bobby Krlic (“Midsommar,” the “Snowpiercer” series).
A Warner Bros. Pictures Presentation, a Safran Company Production, “Blue Beetle” soars into theaters only internationally beginning August 2023 and in North America August 18, 2023. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Jaime Reyes’ version of Blue Beetle has been depicted as a relatable teenager, facing the struggles of adolescence while also dealing with the responsibilities of being a superhero, similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man. This relatability makes him more accessible to younger audiences and creates a connection with fans who appreciate his down-to-earth nature. What do I want from this movie? Authenticity. The last few DC projects have been very corporate and underwhelming. Blue Beetle has been a character I have been waiting to see on the big screen for well over a decade. Hoping it does not disappoint.

The fact that they give at the end comics recommendations to start reading about the character is a really nice touch. Starting to read comics is so intimidating for a lot of person since they dont know where to start from but this give them a clear starting point! Really nice bridge between movie and paper

If you're gonna read a comic, just pick out any comic. You don't need to know EVERYTHING to enjoy it. The only time I would suggest a first comic is if you want to know the origins of a character. Other than that you can pick any comic and start reading. Heck even watch a Superhero show, that's how I got into comics lol
@@theredhood7879 I wouldn't let someone just pick up any comic I would never start someone who likes venom with the king in black storyline or absolute carnage gotta at least read some fillers or something you can't just dive in that's how people get confused and don't want to continue reading regardless of it's actually interesting
@@jfoster8624 oh no, I meant just in general. If you like a specific character and want to read their stories then yes I would recommend comics that mostly involve said character. But if you just want to get into any comic, nothing in particular, then grabbing any comic would do. If you don't like that comic well good news, there's another couple thousand for you to try out.

I've always liked Blue Beetle. I was happy to have him in Injustice 2 and I'm happy to see that the movie is doing him justice. I'm really looking forward to this.
This just looks like your generic origin story with the government trying to find this secret weapon with the scarab top it off with potentially unfunny dialogue and cringeworthy scenes. After DC’s stupid decisions, I’m just done with DC films.

Blue Beetle feels like an obscure character in the DC universe so I'm glad that this movie is giving him the spotlight. This trailer has me hyped!
He's obscure with most people but very well known and loved by comics fans, so it's kinda in the middle - the movie seems very accurate to who Jaime is, so I hope the same love a lot of readers have for him comes through the movie!
In fairness, Blue Beetle is basically akin to Ironman in pre-movie popularity.
I've always thought that DC had a better collection of obscure characters than Marvel. We've gotten 3 Ant-Man movies. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are nice; but I want them to get to Mister Miracle and Big Barda, the Legion of Super-Heroes (done better than the Smallville or Supergirl versions), and others. Elongated Man (as an actual detective married to Sue) would be good for a show more than a movie, but could be fun. The Justice Society has had many adaptions that haven't been great (Black Adam shuffled them off to the side, Stargirl killed most of them in the opening scene, Smallville and Legends of Tomorrow were painful to watch, etc...), so a good version of them could be nice. Yeah, really hoping this movie shows that obscure characters can get movies and do well.
He made several main appearances in Batman the brave and the bold and young Justice, Trust me the blue beetle may not be Justice league famous but he’s far from being obscure, if want TRULLY obscure DC characters there are guys like “the inferior five” or “the odd man” or “Mazing Man” or even the infamous “ambush bug”
My brother/my dad & I never heard of this blue beetle or read the comics but we supposed it's worth a look

This costume looks incredible. It's the first time in a long time where I don't see an actor in a suit pretending to be a superhero, I actually see the superhero. Great job making the consume not just accurate but immersive!

This honestly feels like a fun time at the theatres. DC has done a horrible job so far at the marketing department for this movie. This deserves an audience. Looking forward to watching it

Unbelievably hyped for this movie from DC, this feels like a proper telling of a comic book story from plot, character design and the way it just looks feels like off a comic page. And then huge respect for promoting the roots of all these superhero movies, the comic books themselves

This movie looks SOOO MUCH better than The Flash. No unnecessary cameos. Just a pure, fun and action-packed origin story. and the VFX is pretty good too.

Its nice to see DC finally putting their characters at the forefront instead of pushing bad cameos and fanservice like The Flash did. Hopefully this influences a better future for DC and brings more confidence in putting lesser known superheroes on the big screen.

I really want this to do well and be good. Blue Beetle is one of my favorite superheroes period (both Ted Kord and Jamie Reyes (really need that promised Booster Gold movie to highlight the friendship with Ted)). Its also great to see the well done diversity comics have been holding onto for years now leak into adaptations and not just get the same movies every few years.
Booster Gold is actually a show so I’m sure they will have time to explore his relationship with Ted. Especially if it’s 8 episodes like Peacemaker was.
Unfortunately, this movie will likely flop. The director is currently doing damage control, especially when the footage of accusing Batman of being a fascist. Talk about insulting the DC fanbase.

My father’s name is actually Jaime Reyes, and he could not be more excited for this movie. Blue Beetle has always been a special character to us, so I’m so glad he’ll finally get to see his superhero on the big screen!

I love this movie. I really hope they continue this movie and make sequels and even introduce black beetle.
I am so hype for this movie. Blue Beetle is one of my favourite heroes in general. However I'll be disappointed if we don't get Jamie trying to calm the Scarab down from trying to go a bit "overkill" in defence mode. I'd also like to see some reference to the Reach. Though I don't know if there going that route. This is technically a planet conquering weapon. But even if it doesn't have any of it, I'm so excited for this movie.
They probably have an end credit scene going more into the reach, this seems like a way to establish the scarabs power and Jaime’s ability to cope with it than anything.
I really love how DC has handled the blue beetle, he reminds me a lot of how static was during my generation, glad to see more variety than just the same 5 DC characters in a movie

I feel like I've seen this already, another origin story, looks cool, real quirky quips in dialog, theres a bad guy version of the good guy, he gains confidence by the end of the film and embraces the suit, his family ALMOST dies, etc.
On a positive note, kids that are new to these kinds of films will love it, my kid at heart certainly will.
So glad Blue Beetle is getting a movie, he's too underrated of a character.

@@teevee23 LOL Just no. There are no "bAD dIaLog" NOR are there any "one liners" at all that take you out of it in the slightest. The one liners are great and fix the characters perfectly for the film!
It's a matter of EXECUTION and how well the characters are done, that's how! I can only KINDA see where you're coming from but nothing is "boring" as long as it's done WELL in execution for the movie by having compelling likable characters and great action! That's how NOBODY gets "bored".
This is literally a remake of Venom but with a scarab. The red guy is Carnage. None of them want to be heroes then they have to fight someone who is seemingly more powerful. But they manage to save the day anyway. Same thing. Different fonts

Idk why but i heard so much negative things about this movie. I was so hesitant to watch it because of that but i watched it today.. This movie was amazing! One of the best movies iv seen in awhile. Can't wait for part 2. (Hopefully there be a part 2)

First DC movie in years where I am excited that his costume/armour looks accurate and realistic! Blue Beetle is a great character with a great back story that ties into a major plotline. I hope they do it as much justice as was done in Young Justice.

@@bedlam6700 Jaime Reyes and his family are Hispanic in the comics since 2006, they all live in El Paso, Texas, and there is no reason to immediately assume that it is woke simply for that reason, it wouldn't make sense if Jaime Reyes was Hispanic as he has always been but his family wasn't, that wouldn't make any sense.

One thing I loved about this trailer, that’s not specifically about the movie, is that they showed the comics it was inspired by. It’s really great to see that and probably gives the comics a boost in sales as well
Well to most normies or casuals probably don't know who beetle is so it could be it's own type of marketing to get people to catch up because that is one long history.

Whether you're a fan of the character, or if this is your first time seeing him, in case you weren't aware, Jaime as the Blue Beetle is a HUGE part of the second season to Young Justice. If you haven't watched or heard of it, go check it out. It is nothing like Teen Titans, and it's more along the style of the recently finished DC Animated Universe. Essentially, it's like graphic novels on video form. And the writing and the stories are awesome.
Going by the trailer, I think this film will pale in comparison to the plot of Young Justice season 2.

Just saw Blue Beetle today and all I can say is that it's a blast and I had a lot of fun. I'm happy to see it's doing well on Rotten Tomatoes. It truly is one of the better DC movies and a solid, well scripted, well acted, and fun superhero movie.

I like the fact that Jamie jumped off the building and activated the scarab, instead of the trope of someone pushing him off to see if it works. Like when Freddie told couple of thugs to shoot Shazam in the face to see if he was bulletproof
Both types of power activation/checking are tropes. One is someone else putting you in danger whilst the other is you putting yourself in danger.

Saw this movie last night with my 6 year old boys. They absolutely loved it!! What a fun movie abd about time we get to see latin spin on comic superhero!
it really pulled the heartstrings when jaime met his father again in purgatory before returning to the blue beetle suit to finish the fight with carapace and carapaces backstory was sad too

I am so hyped up and ready to jump on the Blue Beetle wagon, this trailer is even more exciting than the first one was! The suit, the mad visuals and CGI, the action, the characters, and Xolo's grounded and relatable performance as Jaime Reyes has me hooked on this movie! I know nothing about the character nor have I ever touched a comic book but I'm excited to watch this movie! If Blue Beetle can meet my expectations than I'm going to put my full trust in DC on building and expanding their rebooted universe. Hopefully Marvel Studios can find its footing again, maybe take a few notes from its competitor as well

Blue beetle introduced me to teen titans and later the whole dc universe. I worshipped him since i was a kid because of the cool suit and his ability to create whatever weapon he desires. That was way before sony spiderman and marvel ironman come to screen. THANK YOU DC
Hear me out: if there's another country aside from Mexico and other latin countries that has full joy of watching this, that has to be the Philippines! Why? the culture, their faces even the streets and houses where Jaime lives looks so much of the streets and urban places in the Philippines... i felt great bond in the movie because, like the Filipinos they promoted telenovelas like Maria la del barrio which was a hit in PH in the 90s...and also the vics vapor rub lol.... even the accent... pls DCU never cancel this movie i mean we need more movies of the Blue Beetle.... i heard James Gunn doesn't wanna cast the actor that played Jaime anymore... but why .. he is really great!!!! enjoyed watching the movie!
