I wonder why such people decide to have pets when they are not able or willing to take proper care of them. Some people' s cruelty is boundless -
as is your kindness and selflessness, Olena. You are truly an angel for all those abandoned, helpless dogs. Thank you a thousand times for your unwavering support of the most vulnerable and helpless. Lots of love 💛💙

    • @sonneversets3530
      @sonneversets3530 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Same. That’s no 15 YO pup. Hard to tell w/eyes, too. He seems to have some impairment, but due to age...who knows?
Those pearly whites are pretty amazing all considered....
He is, however quite sick. So, I do hope he learns to at least accept & give some love, for whatever time he has left.
It is possible. I know. I rescue too. And got a *_badly abused_* 10 YO, that took *8 mos* before he even would sit next to me! But that 8 mos was the tipping point for us.👍
Constantly bit daily, the whole time, too. Thank God we got ‘Raggs’ all UTD. 😂Regular calls came in, to see how things were in ‘Transylvania’.
He had so many broken & fractured bones, the vet lost track, in his full body X-rays. Rotted teeth & infected gums. His breath could clear a room! And you didn’t want to be in the car w/the windows up. 🤮
Cost _thousands_ to try to get all his medical issues under control. (Could have gotten a good used car!) And he was on meds the rest of his life, too.
Which was only 22 more mos after I got hold of him.
He couldn’t walk right, or jump up/down on anything, b/c of all the breaks etc, that were never ‘set’ or healed right...’as is’.
Vets called him ‘the Land Shark’, b/c he never did stop biting completely, but especially there. He had to be muzzled, held down by 3 of us & sedated, just to be examined. I had to wait to be called from the parking lot, b/c he foamed at the mouth inside, like a rabid dog.😂The looks we’d get!
Never could take him in public w/o being muzzled. I used to take him where no one else was, so he could enjoy being out w/o face restraints.
Only dog I knew that sank when first put in water to swim.🤣 Vet said it was good for his bones/Arthritis. So, he got a life preserver to keep him afloat. Since he would tear into our arms trying to hold him up while thrashing.
Raggs was just finally learning to fully trust & enjoy being a dog, when on top of everything else, cancer struck! From not being neutered till we did it at 10. We were warned it was probably too little, too late. It was. :/
However, we were hoping it would calm him down some, as neutering will do. Not w/Raggs, however.
He was given a max of 2 weeks when the very aggressive form of cancer hit. But Raggs, true to form fighter he was, lived another 3 mos, to the shock of 3 Vets, incl a specialist.
We had him put down at home, being we couldn’t put him through the stress of a vet office.
Low & behold, he lunged at the poor Vet who came, trying to take him by the throat! Knocked everything over flying backwards away from our vampire in fur, as Raggs mustered all his sick strength up, to break free from my arms. No one could believe it! His adrenaline was sure pumping, despite not being inside an office. He was pretty weak on his walk, prior. We were glad the vet was coming, as I couldn’t stay up another night w/him. But, no weakness then! 😂
A bit of the drug did manage to get in, so he calmed before it actually happened. Popped his vein in the lunge, so his other leg had to be shaved, to get the rest in him. But, at least he was calm. Growling low, but calmed.
I wrapped my arms around him & we told him how much we loved him...what a great dog he was! As soft instrumental music played in the background. We did it all up for our fierce little boy!
After almost a year of hating everything, & everyone, he _finally_ started to realize, not everyone was out to abuse him. He was just coming into his own, as a loved dog. And he was _stolen_ from us!
He never did learn to play w/toys. He wanted to rip at shoes, probably b/c he was kicked w/them so much. His bad gums & teeth didn’t allow for much ripping into anything, but flesh. ;)
The one vet found a med that helped his breath be bearable, b/c it was his stomach issues that was also causing it. She took all the rotted teeth & cleared his gum infections, but his breath was still pretty horrid.
I also had all natural vitamins I added to his water that had a great, minty smell. He loved to drink tons of water all day long. So that helped too.
Raggs may not have been the most abused dog...I had a large Collie/Husky mix that was badly abused too, years prior to Raggs.
Not sure who may have suffered more at the hands & feet, of evildoers. ‘Brandy’ was set on fire before whoever had him, kicked him to the curb as a last parting gift....
Anyway, Raggs was by far, the most ‘unique’ dog I’ve ever had. He had a personality to match.
We take solace in knowing that poor, beaten down dog (a Benji look alike w/an underbite ;) had the best 22 mos of his horrid little life w/us....Finally knowing how to give love, accept love, know what it was to be a cherished dog.
He lives on in our hearts, always. Through all the rescues since. He stands out. 🐾
As does Brandy, in his own way. Brandy became more trusting faster, despite his abuses. Raggs, was ever wary, except w/us, for the most part.
I look forward to having Raggs, & all my rescues...that I kept, or got wonderful forever homes for...in God’s Great & Perfect Heaven, forevermore. Where there will never be another tear, or fear, or pain, again!🙌It can’t come soon enough.
Didn’t think it would turn into all this.
Thanks for reading. Should probably put it as a new thread. ;)

Olena is wonderful. Some dogs don't like to eat with people in the room. It's also a big room and he may not feel safe. You could try putting the crate back in there to see if he goes in it. It's a big job with medicine. Rescues are rarely healthy. You are a good soul for taking him on. Poor fellow.

This is one of the worst cases of neglect I've ever seen 😢. No animal deserves to live like that !!! Olena, you are doing such a wonderful job with him, with kindness and dedication ❤️ I really hope that he will have enough time to enjoy the rest of his life in a warm and loving home 🙏🏻

This is so horrible. They have a nice garden, a house, they are not poor and then they treat a living feeling creature in this way! Shame on them! Thank you that you love furry friends are existing!

Thank God for you truly RESCUING this poor baby. Such a shame that he was neglected so badly and for so many years, but thankfully the last years of his life will be so much better. He will know what it feels like to be LOVED. He'll also know what it feels like to be WARM and have a bed......a SOFT BED.
Zhorik deserves everything good. Thank you for helping him and showing him that there is a much better life available than the life he's had for too long. He's going to be easy to love....💖

I truly believe these neglected animals need other dogs to feel safe and learn how to play and love. I rescued a dachshund a year ago, the lady gave her to me and she had a harness than a collar with 2 leashes on, I didn't think anything about it at the time. It was a four-hour trip to go home so we put her in a comfy kennel with the blanket the lady had given her and when we got home I put her down in my fencef backyard. She was able to get out of both harness and collar in like a second and then she took off to a a nearby Iris plant, I was able to pick her up and bring her inside. At this point I realize how skinny she was and scared so I put her in my laundry room with food and water and a comfy bed and let her decompress. I have a doggie door that leads out to the yard and I opened that for her and I notice that she was just pacing around the perimeter of the yard and she would lay down farthest away from the yard by my woodpile. I knew by then that she wasn't socialized but I didn't give up on her. My neighbor has a little dog and she started barking at her and there was a spot of fencing that was bent from a tree that had fallen the previous year, she managed to get through the fence to the neighbor's yard and the neighbors dog barks at her and corner her in their yard. My neighbor picture little dog up to put her inside and the little dachshund followed her into her house. It was at this point that I realized she was missing her pack and I didn't have another dog for her to feel safe. I had to find her the perfect home where there was another little dog to show her how to be a dog and feel safe. I managed to find the perfect home. She followed their little dachshund boy everywhere. They gave her healthy food and showered her with love. Long story short they are inseparable, wherever he goes she goes and she stopped walking the perimeter of their backyard. Today she is very healthy and so happy and spoiled. She's very protective of her new family and is now living the best life ever. They take them hiking and swimming at the lake and she has gained weight and is now a chunky little girl . She sleeps in the bed with them every night and has learned so much. This whole rescue and seeing her as happy as can be has warmed my heart. It makes me feel so good that I changed the sweet little girl's life forever. She's only three years old so she has a lot of years to enjoy her new family who adore her❤

Gracias Olena por ayudar a este angelito. No comprendo como pueden haber personas tan malas con los animales, espero que este cachorro pueda estar saludable y feliz pronto.

If you manage to suddenly lift him and hold him close to your stomach, for a few minutes, and quitely, sending love to him, he will become tame.

Olena, you are a beautiful person inside and outside. I cannot thank you enough for what you are doing. As an animal lover too I am saddened by what you come across but so happy when I see the results of your caring for these poor animals. I think you are one of the nicest and caring people I have ever come across. Keep making their lives happy with all your love. I really hope Ukraine triumphs over what is happening over there and good luck to you and your team on improving the lives of these poor innocent creatures. Total respect and love to you all.

I just love what you are attempting to do to rehabilitate Zhorik. After FIFTEEN YEARS of neglect and abuse and being locked up on a chain and confined to a veritable hole in the wall to live in, he so much deserves a break and some love and joy and happiness in these last remaining years of his life on this earth. He looks like he will be a challenging doggie case for sure. But I am so very confident that if anyone is capable of getting him used to being around humans who do not want to harm or abuse him, IT IS YOU LOVELY, KIND and COMPASSIONATE FOLKS! Thank you for saving this little guy's life and all of the other doggies and other animals that you rescue and rehabilitate as well. I LOVE YOU ALL for what you do. May God's Blessings and protections be on you and your loved ones always! 😍🥰

Thank you for saving him. Yes, it will take time for him to forget the neglect, but with lots of patience he will come around. My suggestion for giving medicine is to mix it in a SMALL chunk of that wet food to make sure he eats the part with the medicine THEN give him the rest of the food. This way you are positive he ate the medicine. Thank you again for having a beautiful heart and soul for rescuing these defenseless loving animals.
