When I use the containers for loose food, I take the use by or expiry date off the original packaging and tape it to the bottom of the container.

I tape the ingredient list to the back of my containers too in case any company/guests have food allergies

I live in Britain, and I am always surprised by how gigantic American pantries are! In Britain most people only have a cabinet or a cupboard for a pantry, so it always seems surprising when you see someone who has a whole room full of shelves
It is impressive but definitely not the standard. Many many American homes also just have a cupboard or cabinet, particularly if you are living in an apartment.
even in india its the same....we dont have a seperate room for a pantry and have less to store

Because we’re super jelly and bewildered and don’t want to be attacked by the masses 😆. Like I don’t know how they could eat all of those before they go bad. I still have “day after Easter sale candy” in the top on my pantry from last easter and it just occurred to me that it’s almost Easter again 😬😬😬. I do not deny that I am the hot mess mom 😬.

I just wanted to say, I've watched a lot of pantry makeover videos, and I really appreciate the way you washed the containers turning off the tap in between each one! It sounds super weird to comment on so I'm really sorry to be so random, I've just watched a lot of videos where people will just leave the tap running and running while they wash their food and their containers and if you're in a city with a drought it can be super upsetting to watch so I really appreciated your washing style!! ^_^

Hint: keep a laminated copy of instructions for things in the containers. I cut out the instructions from the boxes of rice, oatmeal, pancake mix, etc and laminate them to keep in containers. Or a zip lock bag works too.

I LOVE how you didn’t cram every nook and cranny with food. Just because you have a lot of space, doesn’t mean you need to jam pack every shelf with food. Spreading everything out nicely gives a “full” look, but still very clean and calming. Great video!!

We eliminated sugar and salt from our diets 5 years ago. Me, sugar for my weight and sodium from my husband's blood pressure. Between those two products and never eating fast food ( on occasion), deep fried food, and çertain meat products our health has made a complete 360.We are in our 50's and all of our health issues have diminished. 🙂

Yes! Also, why do we need to buy containers to put our containers in? That's insane when you take a step back and look at it. Sure that's not single use plastic, but it's still needless plastic. I was hoping she'd have an organization system I could use that wasn't just a lot of putting things in boxes. She's got a really nice kitchen and pantry though....
@@reighngold I can justify buying the containers if you're gonna use them efficiently, like buying in bulk or packaging free for example but to put individually wrapped things in them? Naah
@@EjEmSi This is a very good point. If you're gonna use it for bulk purchasing it makes more sense. That said, I use mason jars or other glass jars for my bulk goods. Still, you're very right, that makes a lot of sense.

Just a hint regarding your brown sugar .. if you add a fresh slice of white bread in the container the sugar will never go hard even though it’s in an air tight container and it doesn’t mild either 🥰

There are also brown clay stones that can be used to keep the brown sugar moist inside the container. OXO sells them to attach inside the OXO covers.

Although her container doesn't have the right lid for it, OXO does sell terra cotta discs that you wet and put on the lid to keep it moist. I have one on mine, but it has to be rewet every 2 days it feels like just because we live in a desert Dx

This is beautiful, but I wonder how functional it is? I would love to see a 6 months later type update. When I redid my pantry, I went for a similar look with the containers and bins, but I realized as I used it, that they were not functional- particularly when we were in the middle of lockdown and not going to stores for weeks on end. When you realize that instead of needing one of two of an item, you need six or seven, how you organize your pantry really changes. Unless you have a separate storage area for bulk/ back-stock?

If I may suggest placing containers for similar purpose in the same area like breakfast, baking, snacks, dinner, miscellaneous items go together
Now that you've had this system in place for 6 months, do you find that the containers keep your food fresh longer? I'm at the beginning of this process, determining the amounts of each container I will require. Also, do you have a preference between the "pop top" or "handle lift top" containers? So happy I found this video, that divided lazy Susan is exactly what I needed, but didn't know it existed!

As I’m slowly organizing my house I am realizing how Having things “look” pretty keeps me so motivated to KEEP it that way! Another reason it’s worth it! I have a tip for the cricut. Transfer tape can be reused MANYYYYY times! So instead of rolling out transfer tape on the whole set of labels, you can cut a small size that fits over most of them and use and reuse! Saves a lot of money if you use the cricut a lot like I do!

a lazy susan is one of the best tool i use to organize, it's truly space saving! Your pantry containers are gorgeous :)

This was a great helpful video but mainly I want to say that I am insanely jealous of your pantry. If only we could all have a wonderful big walk-in pantry like that! I could be so much more organized if I didn't have this super deep pantry that is so impractical. Also I'm so sorry that you had to feel such terror with someone trying to break into your home with you and your child inside. So glad it wasn't a different outcome.

NEVER EVER LEAVE DOORS UNLOCKED. especially when ur the only adult at home with any amount of kiddos. soon as babe leaves. lock the doors and start closing as many windows as u can on the bottom level ❤ thank God you got scared and used ur senses to protect that sweet boy. 💙💙💙💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

It looks amazing! I wish our pantry was that big. I'm so glad that you and your son were okay. My nine year old was watching and heard the story. I always tell him we shouldn't answer the door before checking the cameras even if we think we know who it is. I also told him it would be a good idea to have an emergency plan. Where did you hide?

Hello, I have a question: why do so many in America still use plates, cups and cutlery that you can't reuse? Everyone should be aware of climate change and do something about it. That would be such a simple thing to do to make our environment a little better. Just like taking cloth bags with you when you go shopping is actually so simple.
