@ivertranes2561 is correct, the B&E began operations Friday 9/1. Technically it is only an operating company, to operate the still existing Pan Am Southern which is half owned by Norfolk Southern and CSX.
So far they have put the new "BERX" logo on at least some of the locos. G&W may not repaint them for a while, but when they do, it is in the standard scheme they have done on all their locos, the only difference is the railroad logo in the herald.
Norfolk Southern also received trackage rights on the CSX Boston & Albany line for its double stack container trains. Quite frankly, I'm questioning what the future is for these lines are and what the B & E will actually do. 🚂
What they will do is move the high tonnage that already exists (and grow this through actual decent service) for the online customers on the PAS system, as well as bridge the NS and PC traffic to/from CSX in the Ayer area and CT and VT.
Remember, the B&E operates not only the Ayer, Ma. to Rotterdam Junction, NY line through the Hoosac Tunnel, but also the north/south Connecticut River lines. And then there are all the trash cars that are transported - lol.
@@stevenconnolly7907 In the end, VTS got trackage rights to either/both East Deerfield or Millers Falls.(at least that's what I've seen on the group chats). Limited in number of trains.
Id encourage you'all to follow finance docket #36472 before the STB. I haven't seen anywhere VRS being authorized trackage rights. The docket is still open. 🚂
Rare catch for NS 1838 - SD70ACC... Not many of those on the roster. Was that an NS train on the B&E, or run-through power, or what? Nice video. Thanks for sharing!
Train 11R is a Pan Am Southern train, operated by the B&E, travelling between Ayer Mass. and New York. I believe it travels as far as Mohawk Yard in East Glenville, NY. but I'm not certain at this time. This train so far has used NS power.
The B&E has their own locos, some from CSX and some from other Genesee & Wyoming shortlines. Plus, certain trains that have always used NS locos will still use them - as in the video, 11R normally uses NS power. As far as paint scheme, no one knows, but from other G&W shortlines it could be total repaints to just putting a new herald on them.
I guess 7655 is a Moxie Pacific unit now
Where is the Berkshire &Eastern RR ?? Never heard of it👍
B&E is a new railroad owned by Genesee and Wyoming created to operate the former Pan Am Southern. This is part of the CSX purchase of Pan Am Railways.

Nice work!👍
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Wonder what scheme B&E will eventually have.

They still need to roster a Berkshire.
That’ll be hard considering they’ve said they don’t intend to keep very much of Pan Ams power. They’ve already begun scrapping their B40s and C40s
Not anymore because CSX merged with pan am so they own the dash 8s like MEC 7627 became CSX 9280
Nice!🙂🙂
Thank you!

@@crescentjunction Vermont Rail System has petitioned STB for the line from Bellows Falls to East Deerfield. This isn't any traffic anyway. 🛤️

Will the B&E have their own locomotives/paint scheme or are they just operating with NS/CSX locomotives?
