Excellent video. At 32:58 in the video, the train passed another historic locomotive in the SARM collection. SD45 Clinchfield 3632 is one of very few remaining operational EMD model SD45 locomotives in "as built" condition with it's 20 cylinder 3600 hp diesel engine. Built 9/1971 as Seaboard Coast line (SCL) 2024, she later became CSX 8924. Eventually she was retired and sold to Montana Rail Link (MRL) where she spent many years running on MRL's line in Montana. Retired again, she became NIWX 8924 in 2007 and went to work on the Eastern Washington Gateway RR, a 108 mile shortline operating between Cheney Washington and Coulee City Washington. 8924 was a favorite among the EWG's Engineers and she served EWG faithfully from 7/2007 until 8/8/2012 when she was retired for the third time. I was an Engineer on the EWG and logged 2296 miles at the throttle of 8924. Sold to dealer Western Rail, 8924 faced an uncertain future, likely to be parted out and scrapped. Fortunately, VLIX purchased 8924 in early 2015 and she went to Oak Ridge TN. Initially restored as SCL 2024, and later lettered CR 3632. I had an opportunity to visit 3632 at Oak Ridge TN on 6/15/2019 and it was a very emotional experience for me. I am SO HAPPY that she was saved and restored to her original appearance.
Great video! Having the 800 down on the O&NW was a real treat, and glad I got to experience her up close and personal! One of the best parts of that whole episode was getting to meet and know all of the ETRC/WRRR folks from Oak Ridge. Good seeing Wade's "Taco" too! 😎
just knowing the history of what all Oak Ridge is and was, thinking about all of the nuclear waste material and other things related to the y-12 complex those engines must have moved is quite a thing to wrap your head around. When I was in University in North Carolina(in the '00's) there was a small line that ran by a place that I was living and I had never seen a train on it in my life. Then one day we're pulling out after going out for food. I heard and then noticed a EMD Streemliner in the bushes right next to our car. The engineer looks in our window as my friend and I just stopped and stared, You then came over to the window and goes isn't she a beauty she's onlone from a railroad museum. It was the first time since I was very tiny that I remember seeing as streamline diesel engine and I think it's the first time I ever saw one up close working and I've kind of been in love ever since.
Quite amazing to see 2561 still in service. I had no clue that it served in Troy, AL which is near to where I live in Dothan, AL. Yall keep up the good work making videos!
I like the horns haven't heard those tones in decades that aren't heard on newer trains especially the horns on the Clinchfield which sounds kinda like a swing or jazz band with trumpets.
It's hard to believe those locomotives are still working! When I was staying in Johnson City, Tennessee in the mid-60's they still used steam engines through the town and into Bristol - I used to watch them all the time. Wonder where those old steam engines now reside.
Mid-60’s steam in Johnson City indicates to me that you’re probably thinking about the ET&WNC railroad and their two second hand 2-8-0’s that they had bought from the Southern Railway. Both the 207 and 208 were traded back to the Southern in exchange for two Central of Georgia ALCo’s so that the 207 and 208 could be a part of the Southern’s Steam Program. The 207’s an active part of the Chattanooga based Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in its original identity as Southern 630 and 208’s currently in pieces at its current home of the Dillsboro, North Carolina locomotive shop of the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, also in its original identity as Southern 722. There are murmurs of 722 potentially being rebuilt with the funds garnered by the recently done stunt work by the TH-camr Mr. Beast. Your mention of a run to Bristol makes me think you’re recalling a run to Bristol that either 207/630 or 208/722 did for an NRHS convention.

This was an absolutely awesome video I believe I saw the clinch field 800 in Ravenna Kentucky when they brought the 2716 I believe it was intervena to get worked on so this was absolutely great you guys have a great day from Kentucky
Wow! The horn does sound different on the old CSX engine as well as the vintage engine. Fun! Interesting for sure the spacer car is the caboose. Thanks
In the 1960s, the 800 engine type there is what pulled the CN Rail passenger trains across the country. An A unit like that, usually two B units and sometimes a steam generator car. And the passenger cars matched the roofline of the engines. Very good looking trains. This is great, guys! My uncle drove for CN too.
Nice seeing the 800 still earning its keep. Nice K5LA horn. Reminds me of my youth riding Amtrak trains pulled by the ol F40PH's. The horn blowing in this video reminds of the Coast Starlight approach into Chico California as there was something like 4 crossings before the depot on Orange Ave. Is that the original prime mover under the hood of the 800? For those seeking railroad work, what he said is pretty accurate.
I'm just happy to see the old 800 pulled that hill and didn't need help from the GP 30 That's pretty badass considering what the crew was saying how heavy it was. But I got to say I really enjoyed your video you got some amazing shots and talking to the crew was pretty dang cool I suppose you couldn't do this in class one railroads but with these little ones like this I suppose you can get away with a little more thanks guys keep up the good work put out some more killer videos.

Oh man yeah me too! hard to mistake the sound of a K5LA!

The Clitchfield is pretty for sure, very good looking

Very good this vídeo. Congratulations from Brazil
I dont get too excited for diesels usually but this was cool and what a horn show they put on!
You guys make nerds look mainstream.
We try!
Fantastic video. What a classic!
Good train videos merry Christmas 3 days ago happy new years
Awesome, awesome video ❤
The Georgia Central came through my hometown of Dublin, Georgia, for many years. It ran between Macon and Savannah. Formerly owned and ran by Seaboard Coastline.
800 is the Carlos Santana of the railroad world, it'll run for anyone
This was an absolutely awesome video I believe I saw the clinch field 800 in Ravenna Kentucky when they brought the 2716 I believe it was intervena to get worked on so this was absolutely great you guys have a great day from Kentucky
Wow! Nice k5la!
I love that it's a Maintenance of Wade engine. :D
I did at one point but not anymore. It’s still a great locomotive, but there’s some things going on that kinda suck.
Great video of a classic EMD F doing what she was designed to do -- in 2023!
And the passenger cars
matched the roofline of the engines. Very good looking trains. This is great, guys! My uncle drove for CN too.
Amazing! Fun! And that ballast and track looks brand new too.
Loving the leslie horns. Nice video.
I’m 72 & can’t pull all that freight!
Have loved trains! One of few ppl that like to wait at train barriers.
Saw lots of these generation engines in the 50s and 60s go through my town!
Can't mistake the sound of the K5LA horn nice and clear!
Preserving the engineering history of America needs to be a much higher priority or we'll lose our history. Plus it's friggen cool!
Wish I had the horns of ole 800 on my car. Would be nice in rush hour traffic.
great video bro
I love 800’s m5 horn.
Cool
I'm just happy to see the old 800 pulled that hill and didn't need help from the GP 30 That's pretty badass considering what the crew was saying how heavy it was. But I got to say I really enjoyed your video you got some amazing shots and talking to the crew was pretty dang cool I suppose you couldn't do this in class one railroads but with these little ones like this I suppose you can get away with a little more thanks guys keep up the good work put out some more killer videos.
Dangggg these kinda videos really make me wanna go find a short line in Kentucky. It’s not really something I’ve done before but if it’s anything like this I would love it
