  • Five minutes from the center of Cagliari, not far from the large Poetto beach, we find the small but charming beach of Calamosca.
Calamosca cove is a natural inlet characterized by fine white sand mixed with light polished pebbles, enclosed between two cliffs at the two ends.
The beautiful crystalline sea presents iridescent colors between the emerald green and the blue, with a shallow and predominantly sandy bottom, typical of the area.
The Calamosca beach is well sheltered from the mistral wind and is rather frequented by both residents and tourists throughout the season and beyond, from May to September.
Its waters are low and sandy on the shore, but quickly become deep and rocky towards the open sea.
How to get to Calamosca beach:
To reach Calamosca beach from the center of Cagliari, take Largo Carlo Felice, merge onto Lungomare 11 September 2001 and continue on via Colombo.
Go straight on over the bridge at the stadium and then take the exit signposted for Calamosca - Borgo Sant'Elia.
Going straight on, you will pass the roundabout and continue straight along the tree-lined avenue that ends near the beach.
The presence of numerous road signs makes it easy to identify the route, moreover, during the summer months it is connected to the rest of the city thanks to the public transport of the Ctm through the lines 5/11 and 5Zeus.
    Calamosca beach services:
At the Calamosca beach there is a small refreshment point and a little further on is the Hotel Ristorante Calamosca and the Bar Le Terrazze di Calamosca, both on the cliff.
    To see nearby:
On the right of the beach, in the extreme of the San Bartolomeo hill, it is possible to observe the Spanish tower of Calamosca or dei Segnali, built by the Spaniards in the XVII century, the most recent lighthouse of Calamosca and a military tower.
Going up the hill of San Bartolomeo it is possible to observe numerous military positions of the former antiarea battery C 135 and the relative tunnels, an abandoned barracks and the fort of Sant'Ignazio on its top.
On the opposite side facing west from Calamosca is the Sant'Elia beach and the Prezzemolo tower, a picturesque Spanish tower built on a narrow rocky outcrop.
On the east side it is possible to go up the paths of Capo Sant'Elia, where in addition to being able to observe the Poetto beach in its entirety, we can reach the pommel of the Sella del Diavolo and its Poetto tower.
There are several remains from the Phoenician and more recent periods, as well as a WWII fort.
