Unfortunately he allowed many nasty racist jokes in his films and The Ghost Breakers has many - (making fun of Willy Best)

This film has a great cast in it, including lovely Hollywood queen Dorothy Lamour, the obscure but cute Jean Wong, horror film great Lon Chaney, Jr. and the incomparable Peter Lorre. It also features Bob Hope, but I guess we can work around that. Personally, I've always preferred brunettes.

@Timothy McCaskey Hope's patriotism and service to the military were never questioned. But, I just don't find the guy to be that funny.

@@lawrencedewan9838 Project MK-ULTRA was quite real, quite morally questionable, and later the subject of a government investigation headed by Gerald Ford. However, there's no credible evidence that Hope was a handler for what was a C.I.A. project. Yes, there are posts claiming such up on conspiracy theory websites but I can't locate a single vetted, verifed book or article with any conclusive evidence. Also, Hope was born in Britain but he was an American for most of his life. Are you saying no one who immigrates to the U.S. can be a loyal citizen? Because that has been disproven millions of times: just off the top of my head, I can think of Thomas Paine, Albert Einstein, Peter Lorre and Sergei Rachmaninov, among many others. Don't be absurd. ...And I say all that as a man who doesn't care for Hope as a comedian at all.

Dorothy Lamour was one of the most stunningly beautiful film stars ever, imo, in fairness back in those days of black and white films, when men were men and women women, not all androgeonous sjw's covered in tattoos, there weren't many leading ladies who were ordinary looking. Be still my beating heart 😍😘🥰😘😍🥰

Actually he did do at least a couple ... "Seven Little Foys" and "Beau James." In my opinion both sucked, maybe it's because I had already seen a couple of dozen of his comedies but for sure it just didn't seem right ... talk about a stereotyped actor. But for me his comedies are the bestest of them all!!! Love 'em

"Bout the only negative thing I heard about Hope was that he was a cheapskate. And I can half ass see why, the dude grew up poor, during the depression so money was not something to be cavalier with. This is a story from Paul Anka's auto-bio and he said stated in his book that there was a grand opening of a joint called the Jubilation in Vegas I think back in the 60's. And the waitress that waited on Hope and his 6 guests who were there from 10 pm to 3 am and were constantly drinking during the night as they accumulated a $600 tab, which was a lot back then. Anyway, Bob Hope didn't give her a dime but an autographed napkin saying something or other and ending with love, Bob Hope, and he seriously thought that was okay. Anka said he heard about it and had someone give her a couple hundred bucks. I do believe the story and I also believe Hope didn't think he was doing anything wrong or being cheap. That's just how the depression era people were no matter how rich they were.
