- In 1965, Gordon Moore, the cofounder of Intel, predicted that every couple of years, the number of tiny switches (called transistors) that can fit on a computer chip doubles because the computer industry is getting better at making things smaller. As a result, computers become more fast and powerful. However, the industry has reached a limit. As transistors get smaller and smaller, they reach the atomic scale and the minimum limit is fast approaching.
Dr. John Randall (President and CEO of Zyvex Labs, Executive VP at Teliatry and NanoRetina, and Adjunct Professor at Univ. of Texas at Dallas) explains what we can do when we can't make things any smaller?
