In 1965, Gordon Moore, the cofounder of Intel, predicted that every couple of years, the number of tiny switches (called transistors) that can fit on a computer chip doubles because the computer industry is getting better at making things smaller. As a result, computers become more fast and powerful. However, the industry has reached a limit. As transistors get smaller and smaller, they reach the atomic scale and the minimum limit is fast approaching.
