I thought the same thing. Gotta keep in mind though that the other electric is not prevalent in his inear mix.. On most Sundays I'm the only electric player so there's a little more space to fill.
Yup but one thing you have to take into account is that he has another guitarist backing him up. They both split up the parts to fill up the space. If you’re the only guitarist you may need to cover more ground.
I cried during that song. I felt the Holy Spirit reveal things I was fearing in life that night in Beaumont. Thank you for your sounds and your work, David. It’s a reflection of the love our Father has for us.
Thank you for these videos! I’ve watched the previous ones over and over! Such a great in ear mix! Keep em coming and I’ll keep watching and learning! Amazing!!
David, greatly appreciate you posting these - awesome to see how you approach dynamics etc in a live context. You should do a video on setting a good in ear mix, the balance is fantastic
Awesome videos! I feel like my brain is a sponge! Learning so much from these. I'm curious where you leaned to create tones and/or what you methodology is for creating tones?
Yo man! Love thses videos as always! I was at the Charlotte show, and after Champion, Dante led a song I hadn't heard before, "You have brought me back to life" was one of the main lines. Is that an unreleased tune? I can't find it anywhere! Love what you do, thanks again!
I believe it is from ableton DAW’s default click textures, however it seems like it’s tuned down probably so as to not clash with the other instruments so it can be heard clearly in the mix.
How do you guys split parts between the two guitarists for songs you didn’t personally write/make the parts for, do y’all just follow the parts allocated in multi tracks or do you and the other electric player discuss? Because I’m realising how much I overplay the more I watch your IEM videos.
For songs that aren’t ours, we usually learn them and spit the parts up and may slightly modify them. Sometimes people produce a song and put a million guitar parts in it that are buried in the mix, virtually accomplishing nothing, so in that instance we will play the parts that we think make the song the strongest and may modify or add parts if needed. The biggest thing to not over playing is listen to the rest of the band, don’t clash with the vocal but support it, and think about it from a FOH/producer prospective. Less is more in a lot of cases to fill the mix in the best way and when you play something special it makes what you play pop more. I try to play like I am always tracking for an album (because a lot of times we are lol). I want everything to sound really dialed in and intentional - especially spontaneous moments. Hope that helps!
No, they are not compatible. However, I am about to release some All-In HX Stomp patches that include all effects. Subscribe to my website to get the release announcement within the next few days.
How can I get a longer sustain on my guitar like yours? Whenever I play the notes seem to die out too fast. I use a Fender strat with a light noise gate just to lower single coil hums. Removing the noise gate isn't an option as the hum is very noticeable in the mix at my church. Even with overdrives and adjusting amp gain the notes still die out quick :( I am not sure if it is an issue with my pickups or hardware. Any tips?
Hey bro, I tried the headphone splitter from my in ear pack to my computer which is running audacity but I got a lot of distortion when trying to listen to it later. Do you have any tips on trying to fix this or should I try a different software?
Cause 95% of churches have volunteers who run sound. This in-ear monitor mix was probably run by a very talented sound engineer who’s probably been doing it for a long time and knows what he’s doing.

@@DavidHislop your own personal ones an not hire ones? You have a guitar tech to set things up for you?
Nice! Do you think that your Helix's presets will work well with a Rivolta Combinata XVII (P90 guitar) to play clean clear tones as Bethel do ?
For people not using helix or your type of Multieffect pedal Can you help with the effect and parameters
Watching these series of videos makes me realize how much I might be over playing during these songs. Great stuff, thanks!

What would the other guitarist be playing? Isn’t he covering the lead and rhythm as well?
@@newtonguitarist David I think does lead. Jonathan Lee does Rhythm.

Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for making these David. Being able to hear the way your tone sits in the mix is inspiring

The splitter cable was a mindblowing for me, it really opened my mind

Very interesting and inspiring - I didn't realise how much work goes into producing a song.

I got goosebumps listening to the Build up. 0_0

Nice! Yes, “Back To Life”. It’s on the new Bethel album that’s about to drop in a week.
Muito bom🙏🏾
hello david how are you, my name is mauricio i'm from Brazil and i like your work, i would like to know who the captains of your telecaster guitar are
Can you make one for Homecoming by Cory Asbury? Or a tutorial please
What are the chords you’re playing in the bridge? They sound really good
When you guys came to Beaumont?
Não é possivel que só eu tenha ficado tonto kkkkk
Awesome! Are you using your We Will Not Be Shaken album Strymon presets for this song or did you make custom presets?
Yes, I am using those presets. All of my Strymon presets I sell are the ones I use :)
What pickups do your Veritas have?
Hi!! Such a good work!
I have a question, the tempo texture comes from a plugin? or a DAW?
I believe it is from ableton DAW’s default click textures, however it seems like it’s tuned down probably so as to not clash with the other instruments so it can be heard clearly in the mix.
It’s from the DAW that’s running the tracks. Ableton.
@@DavidHislop Thanks for the info. God Bless!!

@@DavidHislop hi! What about this song? What was a part of second EG (think Jonathan)? Because you play it different than it was produced.
I was just wondering, is it possible to use the Helix patches in the HX stomp?

Is there a bass pov?
🙏🙏👏👏
Nice Job David ! What tip would you give for an efficient mixing (in earphones) to play live guitar?
Does your monitor guy have the capability to put tuning on the vocals to really tighten stuff up?
Possibly but we want the singers to hear how their pitch is so they don’t rely on it. We don’t run autotune at FOH or monitors.
which wireless in ear system do you use?
what pedals are you using? are you using kemper?
My full pedalboard (as seen in my rundown video) into my AC30 and Benson Chimera.
what kind of guitar do you have?
Guitar brand?

Use a compressor to increase your sustain

Veritas Guitars!

It sounds like the level is too hot feeding into the recording device. You’ll need to lower the input gain so it doesn’t clip/distort.
@@DavidHislop Thanks! I'll try that
Someone tell me how his IEM sound better than 95% of churches live mix lol
