They are supposed to be sent 'Fit for purpose'. I received mine yesterday. The power lead is 7 cm long! It will make only a loud clicking sound, when plugged into power. Trying the above got me 'a b c . . . ' then nothing. Tried with several cards, to ensure reading the card wasn't the problem. Same result. I want to return it and get a refund. It is not my job to try to fix a faulty brand new device. I will report this to UK Trading Standards if there is no response to my email stating the problem and requesting a return and refund. 13th October 2023.

What sensor is it? Is it IR sensor? I think IR needs to be like 1 cm at-least which is not the case here.
