You can also use 3 different pieces of 1 1/2 dowel rod with adhesive backed sand paper wrapped around . Use a "Threaded insert" in the dowel rod and a piece of "All thread" that fits. Then you have more surface area to use for sharpening. Also its not glued on when it wears out. Just change out your rods for a different grit.
I was reluctant at first because my own solutions would have exceeded CR's but as I continued I realized you are exactly me. Kudos for your insistence on finding innovative solutions to everyday problems
Fantastic work and cleverness!!! #3 is just what I need for a project of mine... do you have an item list I could buy from you? I just subscribed to your channel but haven't found one. Thanks!
Thank you for subscribing and for your kind words! I don’t have a specific item list for purchase, but I can share details about the materials used in #3. Feel free to ask about any particular items you need.
First, absolutely brilliant! Binge watching your videos. Thanks for sharing them. For the battery/spark plug hack....the power adapter I have is 19 volts (the video suggests 12volts). Is that too much voltage or do you think it would be okay? And what is that aluminum looking tape you're using?
It's adhesive-backed aluminum tape (comes in several thicknesses, this one's quite thin). It's great for lining engine bays to reflect heat from more sensitive areas, or to make simple electrical connections, where stress/strain isn't an issue, or simply to 'pretty-up' any plastic or crappy-looking parts, 'cause it polishes-up to almost a mirror finish. It's also good for a hundred other things too... ... so, got any ideas? 😁
@27:57 Did anyone else see the ant crawling on that strip of metal ?? Great video on DIY❤ I'm going to use 2 on my crossbow trigger grip (no high tension area). Thanx
Somebody said there was nothing about a battery. My ADD must have blown right by it. I don't see much that I dont expect to see. Objects, I mean. Thanks man! Maybe I'll get to do you a solid one day. WOW!! That phrase is about 55 yrs old. Recognize it? Mod Squad (reruns)
That salt you put into the bowl of water to remove the rust from the shears is a great idea number 4, cool vid - I liked it even if others did not, as other have stated their country of origin, so will I, I am from England and I approve of this video. what some folk do not seem to realise is that in hard times (whatever they may be) ideas like this could end up being very useful and practical, especially if you are not near decent realms of civilisation. I also liked the repair work you did on idea number 3.
Sticking sand paper on the drill chuck is not safe for your palm Otherwise, the idea is good. Using 12 v battery for electrolysis method of cleaning rusty tool which I do very often but add some sodium carbonate powder into the liquid will increase reaction
@creationholic101 gotta watch it on a break or after a problem. That's my job. I'm a hired gun, with no gun. Just a small fortune in Fluke meters. Hey! Best wishes, and Thank you!!!!
What a long wait to see a sharpener that destroys every knife it touches . I could achieve the same ragged edge with a rock from the garden. This is all bullocks
Slicing the paper the first time he was not at much of an angle…..after he was practically laying the knife on the edge…. That blade wasn’t that dull to start!!!
That's OK. I didn't want to see a battery in a drill. But my SO does, so I guess I'll be looking for something tonight. i guess I shoulda gone right past it, huh?
You have to have a good cordless drill plus two types of sandpaper. The sand paper comes in packets. The leather strip coming from an old wallet isn't necessarily available or convenient. Then you also must get some scrap PVC pipe from a hardware store, a roll of Duct tape and a nut and bolt. When you put all the items together from a shopping list you'll end up spending about $65. Yet what does a good knife sharpener cost?

Thanks! I’m glad you found it useful.
Super glue and baking soda will fix many plastic breaks, and just melting a zip tie into areas will help with missing small plastic sections
Thanks for the info!

Open the AA battery and found no solid core. What kind of battery has the solid core?????
Panasonic batteries or maxell batteries are available
@@creationholic101 Has to be a zinc-carbon battery, not alkaline nor rechargeable.

Why go to all the trouble with sand-paper ? There are many round disc sanders of various grade from fine to coarse for attachment to drills.
Good point! Round disc sanders can definitely make the job easier and faster. I’ll consider that for future projects. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just don’t get the use of battery for sharpening? WHY??
it helps remove remaining plaque and stains
