Yes, donkeys are wonderful, one of my favourite animals, but I can't watch this video without my heart breaking for this donkey and all of the donkeys who are worked so hard, without compassion.
@@DonnaJaneSwallow43 It's what people have used them for for thousands of years, and what they're bred for. A beast of burden that's not put to work serves no purpose and becomes a burden.
Being overworked for thousands of years doesn't make being over worked any less cruel. There has been sexism, racism, war, starvation etc for thousands of years. That doesn't mean we should support it. Humans may see a donkey as a 'Beast of Burden' but sentient creatures who are capable of feeling and suffering are more than the words we name them with. The label is not the living being. I have seen donkeys and mules treated as if they were no more than machines, covered in sores and miserable. I saw this on the Greek island of Santorini but it happens in many places. If people rely on an animal to be able to continue with their existence then they should treat that animal with kindness and care, and never crush it with more to carry than it can manage. It should be fed well, watered and have a comfortable place to rest. Any animal which is bred on purpose by humankind should be given a life worth living as a reward. Slavery is unjustifiable, both for humans and other living beings. If a living soul can feel pain, fear and misery, then it should be protected from these things. If an animal does work then the work should be proportionate and well rewarded.
