    I am an HVAC business owner and life long technician. You do not want to run a 1" filter unless they are low or no Merv rating in your return air ducts. On this particular furnace in this video, you want to turn around the Honeywell filter 16x25x4 and replace the metal door that slides down. Then remove the brown framed 1 filter and close the door to the stand/lower plenum. That Merv 8 is perfect for that system.

    I keep seeing this tip. Furnace manufacturers need to MAKE BETTER BLOWERS! It's a fan folks, there are high pressure fans used all over industry that can handle high static pressure. The cost of a little electricity is NOTHING compared to the gas and the medical bills for breathing shitty air.

    That 3rd filter you circled in looks like the lid for the first filter

      There is no 3rd filter, but there is a place for one. That was probably there for the original furnace.

      @@HouseKnowHow Where is this place for the third filter? There is no visible third filter anywhere in the video.

      Yeah, that's the lid.

    My previous house had both a return grille filter and a 4” deep pleated unit filter. The unit had been serviced several times before one tech said he was seeing large pressure deltas and finally saw the multiple filters.
    Funny thing is, I just moved and this house has the same thing. I’ll be removing the unit filters.
    I actually prefer the return filter set up. Easier access for replacement and it keeps the return duct cleaner.

      That type of thing is all too common. Multiple houses we live in end up having the same problems. When I inspect and find something odd that I haven't seen in a while, I'll see it again one or two more times over the next few weeks. Then, not again for quite a while.

    Pretty sure that "3ed filter" is just the cover for the second 4 inch filter.

    What is happening in winter that my bill is are 5-6 times higher. I have both the A/C and Furnace serviced Before their season of use . The filter is checked every 2mo.
    and replaced early or not . My house is Clean ! No air borne debris . Slips on the door bottoms and sealed the best I can with thermal drapes . Good windows . Still have ? Issues but my ? Is with my furnace . Anything that I need to be aware of .Insulalation is way out of my budget unless you know how to make it homemade ? I'm not a fan of poverty appropriated insulation. It saved nothing when sealing openings ,lighting fixtures ,floor gaps etc. Was the issue . No help at all to the poor but, an added burden . I liked your video . Teach me .Ineed help .
    Thank you for your time in advance of my finances .I would appreciate it Sir

    You don't know what you are talking about. MANY home A/C & furnace systems have a 1" AND a 4or 5" filter. These systems are designed to operate with BOTH in place for a good reason. The 1" filter acts as a pre-filter so the 4 or 5" more expensive filter doesn't have to be changed as often. If the system is properly engineered and has both filters - leave them both installed and change accordingly. Just another TH-cam know it all spouting info that is dead wrong!

    The pace of this video is like using 4 filters. 1.75x is a better speed.

      @HouseKnowHow  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what 'regulator' you are referring to. But short cycling is hardest on your heat exchanger. It's always repeatedly getting too hot, then cooling down.
