The only Distinctly an original American musical styles originate from Africans who innovated those styles here on this soil...prior to, during and after America was named. Just when you think that there cannot possibly be any new or different way to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner", this glorious--totally novel--rendition shows up! I haven't felt this way about our Anthem since I watched, live, Whitney Houston at the Super Bowl in 1991.
That was one of the best recent renditions of the American National Anthem I have heard in a very long time. As a Canadian I want that choir to sing my national anthem lol

I thought that would go over many people’s heads. To have the Tenors break harmony like that gives it depth and choosing that specific moment to break off into three part harmony would take a trained ear to understand what just happened. Starts off very European…and then launches into the future of America. I hope someone interviews the person that created this arrangement. There’s much for music students to learn from in this arrangement.

@@Andy-i6fDid they say something was wrong with it? I would guess from what the original poster said, the way this song was sang is symbolic -- started off very European, just like this country. And eventually moved to a new day -- just like this country. 😉

@@Andy-i6fI think he meant it started off in traditional European style, much like the country did, and then ended in a interesting uniquely American/multicultural style - following the progression of America herself perhaps.
