    It's always interesting to learn the history of any home. Ice always wondered who lived in the house I now own. Its history goes back to 1945. Nice work on Geaceland. Little did the Moore's know that their home would become the most visited after the White House.

    I think this is your best story so far. I wonder why Elvis didn't put a small pond in the pasture. It would have really looked good. The giant lake where the neighborhood is now is fascinating. I bet he later wished he had bought more of the available property that became a subdivision. Great story Ashley. Really good work👍

      @@ashleysadventures My cousin, who was with me, was president of his fan club in Coral Gables, Florida and we called Olympia Theater where Elvis was to perform and spoke to Col. Parker, Elvis' manager, and when we asked if we would be able to meet Elvis, he said we would. When we got to theater, we saw Col. Parker in the lobby and introduced ourselves and asked if we would now be able to meet Elvis. He said no. Right then, I turned around and saw Red West, Elvis's cousin and friend, and I asked if he wasn't Red West and he said he was. I told him how Col. Parker changed his mind about us meeting Elvis and Red said, "Come with me." He took us up the stairs to Elvis' dressing room and introduced us to Elvis and we gave him a gift of a teddy bear which made him smile. He said he was going to call it Jitney Gene. Then he took time to write about 50 autographs for the fan club. You can imagine how thrilled we were.

    Interesting video Ashley. The style of the mansion certainly suggests an older property than it actually is. I daresay the New Orleans chandelier would be a desirable nowadays! Interesting too; the Audoban Dr property was part included in the Graceland purchase.
    It's a shame how the immediate area outside the mansion has been built up over the years and can at times look pretty slapshod and tired.
    Excellent Work!

    so interesting , i heard so many stories like that about land and how big it was before time comes and everthing gets smaller and things just disapear over the years , in my family in my area here i have super old deeds for family land from the 1700's some also had private lakes and even a castle on one deed with a big story to it , its like i can feel just how it is to know about it and how its all gone and now hundreds of thousands of people live on the lands and the past is totaly forgoten and only what the local history has put in books but so much is missing especialy the early 1800's and prior , there is so much left and lost and or the people from those early families are gone long ago , this vlog is so cool to learn about the early pre graceland and how it was and 3 ruths omg a spoiled cow ! lol i have to watch this vlog 3 times theres so much going on

    I have seen some of these old “pre Elvis” photos of Graceland. I always felt that the property looked better before Elvis bought it … but, given the growth of Memphis around Graceland, the house would probably been razed long ago and either subdivided for housing or used for commercial purposes. Elvis likely saved it by purchasing it but I think he largely outgrew it quickly and probably should have moved into a larger home on more property (that would have given him more space and privacy) by the early 1960s but he probably would have (or did) refused to because this was his mother’s final home.

    I like Elvis idea or ,Linda’s whoever , of the beautiful peacocks stained glass! Another fun video Ashley! I love the history of that old house!
    You know my grandmother died in her house in Austin and I’ve heard there’s ghost of a old lady
    That wanders in it! It was the only home my grand parents had for a very long time
    After they left the farm in Roundrock Texas. It wouldn’t surprise me if it were my grandmother.
    She was a lovely stylish woman for her time who made beautiful clothes for herself and us when we were children. A lovely old Swede woman.

    hey in your other video, the one where you talk about Graceland with an architect, there is a odd image of a woman in one of the old photos of the interior of the house, shown 2-3 minutes into the video, and you couldn’t explain the image- the figure standing in the corner is this lady - Grace touf- 0:54 who owned the property originally in the late 1800’s - it is a fake image that someone doctored onto the photo

    • @ashleysadventures
      @ashleysadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it’s real and likely a bust. It was published in the newspaper in 1940

    I thought it was interesting that Elvis covered the glass block walls of the music room with curtains because he didn't like the glass blocks. He did the same thing with the wall at the top of the stairs.
