The ability to make your own KMZ files is great. You can make your route, add in different things, turn them on and off, add overlays on top of each other…. Great very cool things
I looked at the windy app during the last hurricane that hit Florida it said the swells were 6 feet or 12 feet and the waves were 28 feet in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico
Chris, Great video. I love Google Earth Pro and the NOAA chart overlays. It is great that you are bringing this awareness to your audience. Very pertinent to your stated goal of getting more people on the water.
Gracia... I now live at Cabo Rojo, PR. Formally sailboater @ Annapolis MD. You are now my local Seaman advisor. Looking for a CAT boat, and I will join at that time! Thx.
Great video, love it! Chris, I think I remember you saying you were coming up to Jacksonville, FL pretty soon with a delivery. I live up in Jacksonville, would be great to meet up with you. Wife and I are about a year and half from full retirement, and living on a sailboat/catamaran is a strong contention in the future. Will be joining your consulting package when the time comes, and hopefully get a couple of delivery sails with you to make sure this is a lifestyle we want to pursue. Thx.
thanks a lot for the great stuff you do on here and ofcourse the free nautical-maps to bad im living in europe. and those maps are not in that kmz file 😅🤣 perhaps you know if those maps are also out there? Greetings from holland.
Hi! I have been watching your videos for a while. After my opinion this is probably the best quality channel in this genre. I considering buying a new boat in the near future. One thing I really struggle to find information about is the differences between shoal/shallow keel and standard deep keel. Would there be any major disadvantages with a shallow keel for an occasional ocean crossing. Would be great if you could make a video about this topic at some point. Keep up the good work and thanks for providing great content!
Amazing info thank you. Ive use google earth and many variations of paper and electronic charts but now lwarning to use the pro version and chart overlays will be amazing.
How do I get ahold of you to talk about following in your footsteps? Or work for you? Should I buy a vessel if I'm going to be a delivery captain? I mean I have to have some where to go back to and I'd rather go back to a slip than apartment! Lol
@@rob8917 if have to sit down and give it a try. I’m in Germany, but only used it in the US and Middle East. You could have someone with a kmz email it to you and try to open it. I don’t know why it wouldn’t work. It’s integral to the app. The main idea, of one n idea is to create kmz files and share them with others
Buying a brand new fancy dancy to me used 33 foot sailboat in Portland and need to get it to Washington state? Anyone know how much it will cost to have someone deliver it? roughly?
It was mostly meant as a tip for next time. An interesting subject but very long at over two hours, and when it also progresses very slowly right at the beginning you realize that you don't have time/can't bear to do this
Chris, man thank you so much for turning me on to this! I had NO idea all that was available for freeeeee!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment
Best information I've received for free from@@ChasingLatitudes
Google Earth is fantastic. Used it for years. Didn’t know it had nautical charts.

Is it a good idea to take a 90000€ loan and buy a sailboat to live in it? I'm 21 yo
I did it in '96 while living in London, bought 43' sailboat and lived in St Katharines Dock. Paid it off in 2.5 years. Went cruising back to USA.

Sorry, but after 3 min 30 sec and it was only the intro and cold talk, I jumped on to someone else's video 😟
no one cares, its not an airport, no need to announce your departure
