Chris, you're really hitting your stride. Your content is very well-written with lots of solid info in simple, declarative sentences, punched up by your personality. I swear, you could do stand-up comedy. I've recommended you to friends. . . . Keep up the good work!
Agreed, very entertaining and most importantly legitimate. Chris tells you what you need to know whether you like it or not. It comes from someone who actually lives this. Not someone who sails a couple hundred miles a year
I was advised 3 things by a friend, long time sailor and importantly marine surveyor. 1. You must like the look of the boat (the exterior/interior design) first if not you will never be happy with it. 2. You must be able to afford it and 3. You must be able to afford to maintain it. The rest is mere details.
Doing deliveries is work. Island Hopping is fun. But I have learned more about sailing on deliveries than anything else. This is excellent advice. Loads of wisdom - what is critical for fixing, what are needed upgrades, and what is critical maintenance.
great info....YT's algorithm suggested your channel....and you've converted me from taking my fellow Canadian YT channel as gospel( K-sailing )....been subscribed ever since ...even liking the thought of joining you on a delivery some day....
Chris, are you okay?! It’s not like you to be off for a month. I hope your father is doing well and you are, too❤ Please let us know something. -RAbecca
Hi Chris, wonderful video with a lot of knowledge. I was planning on buying a Gemini 105MC after checking your catamarans review video. Now things have changed and I’m not going to be able to live aboard for a while. I should be able to take at least a week a month to sail and do some island hopping. Do you have any reviews on a trailable trimaran like the Corsair f27?
Chris you constantly mention life spans of rigging etc...which i completely agree with But my question is you reside in salt water,do you have experience with great lakes fresh water vessels rigging lasting much longer? I'm in the market in the great lakes region and it's extremely rare for rigging to be replaced which i find odd
@@ChasingLatitudes my boat is 37 years old. It has been in fresh water since it was born. It is in the midwest, and only used for 4-5 months a year, and then only a few times a month. The standing rigging shows no signs of corrosion at all.
Do you ever take trips to or from Australia? A trip to San Juan takes 26 hours and costs $1400 for a return ticket. Purchasing one plane ticket can save me a lot of money.
It is not next to impossible to insure a 30 year old boat. Advice to all prospective sailors to do your own research and to distrust any TH-camr making broad statements of so called fact.
yes it is, go ahead call just like I SAID IN THE VIDEO TO CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY. IT IS 100% next to impossible to insure a 30 year old vessel for an Atlantic crossing LIKE I SAID IN THE VIDEO !!! you can insure them all day long for cruising the harbor and some costal waters but any long distance sailing its next to IMPOSSIBLE AS I STATED IN THE VIDEO
Just a little angry tonight, Chris I enjoy it!!!! My friend Thomas seems to be a little less polite it seems as if you wore off on him just a little! Hope to catch up with you someday on the big Blue be safe, my friend !

He hates that channel lmao
Yet another concise, informative and straight forward video from you Chris. Well done!
This is literally the cream of the crop in terms of sailing content.
Sorry i missed these Chris, i stopped getting notifications for some reason
And here I hoped that Santa was going to bring me one for Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, fair winds and joyous travels.
Thanks. Merry Christmas
When a boat price reflects all the basic upkeep plus payed out man hour totals. Florida and New England😅 😅
Yeah, okay, I agree with this. Currently in St. Croix.
Chris where would you look for a Used sailboat, if not Yachtworld? What’s your go to?

Thanks for the money saving information
Hey man could you do a vid on buying new sailboats? your reasons to/to not buy one new?
What kind of boat are you getting and how long will the trip be?
Great advice. Thanks
Glad I could help, go sail!

its not so much the saltwater that causes that life span its simply the material being under the constant pressure constantly bending and moving

What brand of fancy dancy yacht did you buy, is it a fully rebuilt ex TH-cam special, come on Chris let us in on it
hahah, nah I didn't buy a boat just a friends fancy dancy 40 foot catamaran that's going to be here for a year or so
He's made an offer on Uma.
Shhhh!

No for the same reasons you do not want to come here, the cost of tickets makes it not a viable option for me
@@ChasingLatitudes I do want to go there and do a boat trip and find out what sort of sailing I am suited to.
Have a great Christmas.
Australia is overpriced 52 weeks a year.
It’s nuts, iv nearly given up..!! -Half way through a 2yr purchase plan already.. :(
yeah that checks out 100%
@@tomhouston9985 We really don't much choice here though eh. It's a captive market.
Can we make money bringing boats to Australia? Lol I'll start buying boats, Sailing them there. Selling em.
Why not buy else where? The more I hear about the Auzi market, the more I want to sell boats there lol
You know where/when to buy in Europe? I live north
croatia is usually a good bet as far as price goes
@@ChasingLatitudes Thanks
5-6 years old would be my limit. Seen to much crap going on with the older boats. Not worth the sht that goes with that. Merry Christmas.
Absolute BS

so it's not worth it why bother all right I'll get an RV instead😂😂😂
Simple solution. Make an offer.
The list price is meaningless.
So why all the theatrics? It is very annoying.
@@WilliamCunninghamII simple solution, don't watch, so why all the useless comments ? It's very annoying
@ChasingLatitudes yes, that is the solution.
