🐚 Dickmans & Kice Island Shelling from Day 2☀ th-cam.com/video/_w9ILWUmiJw/w-d-xo.html Let's go shelling 🐚in my Etsy shop: floridabeachwalks.etsy.com ❤🌊☀
Hey Roxann 👋🏻 What an amazing trip!! It’s crazy how much the Florida locals will ignore the Fighting Conches; they really look like some of the coolest shells to me! Loved seeing all of the shells around the roots, I think I’d be looking for days and never see even a fraction of the beach. My favourite is definitely the albino Fighting Conch, so beautiful and rare to see. Actually, I really loved seeing so many of these; the display at the end was stunning 🐚🤩!
Hey Maddie! Such a fun trip this was. The fighters are a common shell here but they are special in their unique and rare colorings for sure. It was fun looking "all day" we left before sunset so we wouldn't have to paddle back in the dark. It's a very easy spot to spend the day or days! Thx for watching and next I'll share day 2 on Dickmans...I found a FFC with a purple aperture! Fun! Have a great week shelling!
Hi Roxanne! We were there the beginning of June with a shell tour. It was high tide and I agree. You have to watch where you step, Kice can get hairy maneuvering through the mangroves… We also went to Keewaydin with The Water Wuber…. FANTASTIC TIME! I preferred Keewaydin over Kice & if you go, The Water Wuber is the way to go! ❤
I've gone with a shelling tour a few times and paddled a couple of times but haven't tried a Water Wuber! Who would have know lol but it makes sense being you can catch an uber ---why not on the water, brilliant! I'll have to check into that, thx. Yes, Keewaydin is amazing! Thank you for your comment and I'm sure you had an amazing trip earlier this summer .🌊☀️🐚
Me and my husband went on our first shelling tour to Kice Island and Dickmans Island in July. Yes, the Florida Fighting Conchs were everywhere. On our 1.5 hr tour to KI, I picked up over 50 FFCs along with some other beautiful shells. We were on the north part of KI. So much walking that I couldn't reach the south end of the island when the Capt told us to head back to the boat so we could head over to DI. We are heading to Keewaydin Island next month for a day of shelling. Hopefully, it will be just as good as KI< DI too. Beautiful finds. I am eying some alphabet cones for my collection. I only have one intact one so far. I recently found your channel and enjoy it. Very inspiring and thanks for sharing. We plan to go to KI again next July on our annual week trip to Key West from SE Georgia. Georgia Shell Lover.
Ahhhhh all that just sounds SO exciting! I love Kice!! I hope you have a blast at Keewaydin. When I went in particular to Keewaydin there wasn't much on the shore. Alllll the shells were in the water around the tip and I snorkeled and found lots of shells! I can't wait to go again one day. I have friends who have been several times and even camped on Keewaydin at a negative low tide at 4am...to say the least they had a blast and came back w/over 50 cones and countless horse conchs! It's a truly magical place. Had another friend find a Junonia there too--right where the boat docked!! I wish you all the shelling love and hope you find lots of goodies! Happy you found my channel--it's been a long time coming for me and I finally put my foot down with myself and "just started it this year." Anyways, thx for watching and feel free to share the channel with others. Blessings!
Thx so happy you enjoyed it. I think we did pass a couple of guys this trip who were collecting too. I have only passed a handful of people at a time while here--which is always nice.
Oh I know-love these colors!!! Sad that the tulips did loose their vibrancy when dried out but they are still beautiful. Red tulips just don’t keep, they dry to a medium/light orange 🥲 Thx for watching.
This video made me long for my vacation even more! We will be on Marco Island near the end of August and I plan on shelling a few of these beautiful remote islands. We are even going to the east side of Florida one day to shell for different varieties of shells! I loved what you found and this video made me so excited to get to Florida!
Awesome!!!! Ahhhh July will fly by and vacation will hit in no time! Excited for you I hope you have a beautiful trip 🐚❤️😍 Thx for faithfully watching and commenting 👍🏼👍🏼 Let me know what you find on the east side 😍🌊☀️
U made a 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚MANDALA 😂❤ I could here U walking on 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 🐚 Probably all those trees even B4 h🌪🌫 the standing ones were survivors of earlier 🌀 🌀 🌀 winds.
Oh no! Trust me I long too...they closed the Caxambas launch area for now for the next supposedly 2yrs! For reconstruction so for now looks like only motor boat access for now unless a private dock launch. Happy shelling. Take care and thx for trying to watch!
Thank you! Happy to do them for you all. There is only one place to publicly launch from to kayak to Dickmans and/or Kice (Kice is farther and more difficult than Dickmans to paddle to - I’ve had friends capsize in their kayak once coming back from Kice) the public launch park is “Caxambas Park & Marina” BUT they are currently closed I heard from my friend in Fort Myers and will be for the next couple of years they say. It’s getting rebuilt after Ian-they “just” now started to rebuild. This “total” park closure is just recent-they “were” open after Ian for only non-motor boat launches (because the docks were all messed up they didn’t allow motorboats). The only other public launch place is Goodland (you can’t kayak from there to Kice. It would take over 4hrs (I had a friend that’s done that). That type of paddle trip is for the wilderness expert paddler that camps. When Caxambas was “normally” operating they do have private companies you can rent kayaks right there in the parking lot. You have to get there pretty early usually to get a spot. It can fill up fast on weekends and popular holidays...it's not a huge parking area. Hope this helps :-)
I know this was filmed after Ian, but how long ago? Kice is on my bucket list. Have yet to get there, but would love to paddle over like you did. Did you leave out of Goodland? Thanks Roxanne!
Before Ian this was 😍 Let’s see, I was pregnant on this beach walk- just got pregnant with my 3rd “surprise” baby Ella and she will be 2 end of Aug. so just over 2.5yrs ago 👍🏼 I hope you get the chance to go! It’s amazing. Dickman’s & Shell Island are nice too as is the Cape Romano Island 👍🏼 Such pretty area! Thx for watching ☀️
@@gingermackeen5741 Oh yes it was...sorry I should have been clearer. Those dead trees are just rubble stumps now not tall stumps like in the video. Sorry for any confusion on my part. I'll make note for future narratives to be clear - thx for making that a point so I can keep that in mind for future narratives. 👍🏼

I hear you on that 🌊☀️❤️🐚

So blessed yes 🙌🏽 ❤️
That was awesome, I haven’t been to Kice yet but I can’t wait
I sure hope you get the chance to go or to any of the ten thousand islands-so amazing 😍🌊☀️🐚 Thx for watching!
Great finds, sure wish I was there
Me too again lol. Awesome island 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice shelling adventure with gorgeous shells! Looked like y’all had the beautiful island to yourself.

@@FloridaBeachWalks could you maybe try mineral oil lightly rubbed in? It's restored an old olive shell I had.
Wonderful video as usual. Thank you for taking me to such natural beauty 🐚🪸

Love your videos and narratives. Where did you launch your kayaks from to get to Kice? Is it an accessible launch area with good parking?

Is that a Junonia @ 1:28?
I wish! 🤣 It was a Giant Atlantic Cockle 👍🏼

Where did you camp at?
Collier-Seminole State Park 👍🏼 My friend Shilei & her family have camped right on Kice several times before.
