    As usual, very enlightening Mike thanks.
    I had just about made up my mind to use Easy Joint until I saw this video.
    My new patio in back is not open. 3/4 of it will be on top of and old 6" worth of 3/4" stone then limestone screening. So basically a bowl. It's on the backyard so do drainage anywhere except into the soil.
    Because of that and that I'm using Gator Base panels, I assume I should just go with regular polymer sand then? That way it would be surface drainage onto the floor garden.
    I'm also using 50mm 14"x28" slabs so can't use a compactor to settle the sand into the joint unless you have a roller compactor and are able to do such a relatively small job.
    Thanks.

      I’d say using polymeric sand would be your best bet with what you describe there.
      I do not have a roller compactor unfortunately

      @@iamahardscaper Sorry, forgot to log onto my google account so did t see your response till now.
      Ok thanks and thanks for your response. I'm going to use G2 and a copule of rubber mallets and agentle taps from a hand tamper.
      I might try yelling at it with a booming voice as well. I figure that will vibrate the particulate into place 👌👍

    You guys are lucky to have such a great product at hand for around $40 - $50
    Searching for the product here in Australia it costs around A$500 (US$320)

      Ouch! That’s definitely going to be a hard sell to the customer even with it having a lot of benefits over standard poly or god forbid standard masonry sand like I have seen some companies around me use.

    is it worth compacting the pavers into the bedding material when there is no bedding material? seems everyone does this on hpb/1a now too which doesnt interlock with the pavers like sand does. I dont get it.

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is always a bedding layer, even if HPB. If the joints are wide enough, it will still allow for the HPB to come up into the joint to meet the jointing compound. And it is still required for the consolidation of the jointing compound anyways

      @@iamahardscaper i dont know if id want hpb between my paver joints. i have never compacted pavers on hpb and just use a roller while im polysanding - have never had a single failure outside of overwatering an overlay one time. But how does compacting make any sense on the synthetic boards?

    How permeable is this? If using it on a 1/4" per foot slope, does water run off the top of the pavers and away or does it all seep through the joints into the subgrade?

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’d say the majority of it will flow into the joints, the water that lands on the outside pavers will run off.

    So can I "soft wash" (no hard power washing) my paver stone walkway after using this product? I power washed the entire path, making sure all gunk, etc was out. Now I need to fill all the spaces! I was advised to use polymeric sand....So many products out there! If I use this one, will I be able to "soft wash" my paver stone path in the future, without having the product wash out?

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have power washed this product with not failure. We use something that is about 1500 psi and try not to focus too much time on the joints, taking it easy.

    Hello, I am installing an open base 900sqft patio in Maine (so similar weather to Canada) and I'm trying to decide what to fill the joints with. I'm torn between EasyJoint or AquaRock. I don't have a preference on joint size.
    1. Does AquaRock have issues with weeds? I'm picturing a forest of weeds in 3-4 years.
    2. How many years can I expect EasyJoint to last? I'm worried I'll be patching/redoing sections every 3 to 4 years.

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’d have to keep up with maintenance using aquarock for sure. My oldest project with EasyJoint is 3 years and it’s still solid. Can’t speak on beyond that though.

      @iamahardscaper thanks for replying back. I feel MUCH more confident in the jointing material choices.
      Now to figure out what to do with my downspouts.

      @@iamahardscaper@iamahardscaper I think that's exactly what I'm gonna do! Thanks again 🎉
      Most pavers I've seen are 1/8in joints after you "clink&drop". I'm looking to do 1/4in joints though.
      EasyJoint needs a minimum of 1/8in joints, what would you recommend to do to widen the joints on pavers?

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’d stick with the joints of the pavers. You want them to be touching for better strength

  • @yogoombah2356

    Is it true, if one wants to seal the pavers, one needs to seal before applying EASYJoint?

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be sealed after with a similar waiting period than polymeric sand, but it may not remain permeable.
