- Took the new Lamiglas Carbon Surf Canal Rod paired with my Tsunami Saltx 6000 to the Ditch, here's what happens.

great to see someone fishing the SaltX 6k too. Bought mine as all around surf reel for here in California. Had to relocate to Sacramento (~2hrs east of Ocean) but am minutes from Sacramento river...haven't been able to get out yet but can't wait. Not much experience fishing big rivers (Sacramento river is biggest in CA). Nice shots at several species of salmon, like Chinook & King, also strippers and sturgeon. So the 6k should get a good workout this year, eventually.

I never fished the canal but I have lamiglas canal rod paired with a BG MQ 8000 what’s your thoughts

Can that rod cast 2-3 oz lures pretty well? Can you get at least 65 yards on lures in the 2-3 oz range?
great vid.. do you bring a bike when you fish the canal or go on foot..
If you didn't skip over the first minute you would see my Bike on the back of my truck. Having a bike is a necessity there.
is this rod heavy? any idea how much it weighs?
How moderate is the action on this rod?
How are you run the Guppy ? Looked like just the middle treble ? Back hooked removed?
Yeah I now only use middle trebles on all plugs, no tail hook. Had enough hooks in me to never want to deal with that again. I also crush barbs

Is there good stripers fishing action in the Canal during the summer months? About how much does a good stripers fishing outfit costs? I heard it runs into the 1000's???
Yes. This setup here is 600$ You can getaway with less but you really need the right tool for the job here. If you go too light of a rod or cheap of a reel you'll never be able to beat the current and the fish.
@@SaltyMcFogg , thank you for your prompt reply, man. I was told that to fish the Canal I would need outfits in the thousands of dollars. I thought, man I have to give up fishing! Under 1k, I can handle. Any more than that, I think it gets a little ridiculous. Just my opinion , of course. Thank you, bud.
@@rubenmontanez1714 My budget setup is a Tsunami Shield 8000 and a St Croix Mojo Surf 10’. I converted the reel to bailless as well. Under $350 for a great little setup.
