I asked Chat GPT to create a crochet pattern for a fish just to see what it would come up with. It spat out a pattern for a 6 inch tube with instructions to draw the eyes and mouth on with paint or marker and "add fins if desired to make a more realistic fish." 😅

  • @NightmareEclipse

Qotw: I’m honestly kinda scared of of spiders, and it doesn’t help that the main ones I saw in my house for a while were wolf spiders (aka the ones who carry their hundreds of babies on their bodies, meaning if you squish it the babies scatter). Preferably, I’d try to move the spiders out of my house rather than kill them though. However, one time I saw a little jumping spider outside and it waved one of its little tiny legs at me when I was staring at it 🥺. As for house centipedes, I’m even more scared of those than spiders. When I was a kid I lived in an apartment that had a house centipede infestation and it was bad. Like crawling out of the shower drain and coming out of random places (especially in the bathrooms and kitchen) when you least expect it bad :(.
Weekly tank updates: The noodle trio is causing chaos like usual. This morning I turned on the tank light to see the old nerite snail shell I have in the tank for decoration was tipped on its side and had been moved several inches. It could’ve been my clown pleco but I’m pretty sure it was either Udon or Spaghetti since they tend to be more destructive than Ramen lol

5:33 That's a Bichir, one of my favorite fish, they have so much personality. I love the fact that they feed at night, because I can give them some one on one time with moonlight modules They have lungs and my guy kept trying to evolve by sitting on an exposed branch like a mudskipper. They do get up 76 cm so they will need lots of space.

    I love spiders.
My husband is terrified of spiders.
Conclusion? I hide baby spiders when I see them in the house so my husband won't see/find them. I once had one named "Hugo", he was living behind the laundry machine in the bathroom for a good few months and grew into quite a large spiders. My husband freaked out when Hugo one day sat on top of the laundry machine to say good morning so I had to "save" my husband and "removed" the spider (aka put it back behind the laundry machine).

Qotw. I usually try to move the Swedish spiders outside just because I don't feel like walking straight into a giant spider net one day in a doorway or something. But I guess that also depends on where i find them. if it is in my basement then i will often just let it be there as the ones we have where i live are completely unharmful. But if it is in my bedroom or kitchen or something like that. I take them outside. I do however never kill them intentionally but i guess that also happens.

I had the same experience with a house centipede. It ended up in the vaccuum cleaner because I was too scared to go near it since I didn't know what it was. In retrospective, I shouldn't have done that. It was probably feasting on all the cockroaches roaming my apartment... Ah Romania, I never wanna live there again. :)
But to answer your question, I either leave spiders alone or take them outside alive. They still give me the creeps because society conditioned me, but they are pretty cool actually and important for the ecosystem.

Question: If I want a tank with multiple types of fish, how should I calculate space requirements? Say I have a goldfish that needs 40L, and some guppies that need 20L (not sure if these are accurate), do I need a 60L tank? 40L? In-between? Because that would make the space requirements HUGE very quickly 😂

I LOVE SPIDERS. If I find one in an inconvenient place (like a sink or the bathtub) I get it into a cup or on a cloth/towel and take it outside: fly be free! The argiopes (garden spiders, orb weavers) are favs: they don't show up in their large sizes until late summer, but are (Darth Vader voice) Most Impressive. There's a neat (I think Cherokee) legend about how Grandmother Spider weaves a bowl out of her webbing so Vulture can carry the sun nto the sky. Whenever I see argiopes, I think of Grandmother Spider. Also, fishing spiders: when kayaking at dusk, you can turn on your headlamp and see the glitter of their eyes in the shallows or along the shore.
I HATE AI. I'm one of those artists who may be affected by it. Ironically I adore CGI effects in film, and use Photoshop. So digital media, fine, it's a tool. But the rampant plague of AI imagery done "adult coloring book" style...somebody with no skill, no experience, and no investment of time and effort types in some rando verbiage and gets a picture, which is usually at the very LEAST thoroughly in the Uncanny Valley, and often so unsettlingly horrible it's like a train wreck (I... cannot...look...away...). It's here, so we need to regulate the crap out of it.
    Just keep swimming...

    Goal:
    2 MAYBE 4 goldfish
    75-100 gallon custom fish bowl
Fluval filtration system (gotta have that silence)
River rock gravel. Has to be natural gravel.
My home is a good temperature, but I'll have a heater just in case.
    2 bristle nose pleco's
And finally, a metric f*** ton of research on whatever specific species of goldfish I choose to put in the giant bowl.

I don't want it killing my spiders. Besides, it just looks creepy. There are certain insect-like things which I won't have in my house. Bed bugs, cockroaches and that monstrosity you showed us are among them. I also hate flies, but my pet duck usually has those deposed and eaten before I even know they're there. It's amazing to watch the fly going about its business and suddenly disappearing when it gets close to the duck. It happens so fast you don't even see the duck move. Just fly one millisecond, no fly the next. Truly amazing.

QOTD: I think spiders are great. I've kept a few as pets, my personal favourite is the australian black house spider, Badumna insignis. They get a bad rap but they do such a good job of controlling insect pests, they stay in one place and don't go adventuring in your home, though their webs can be quite messy. Otherwise they are pretty pleasant house guests compared to say hunting species like huntsman, wolf spiders or whitetails.

AI already beat out my local vet who did not consider beneficial bacteria when talking with another client.
Yes, I have free roaming spiders, but not so much by choice. I'm just not going to touch them.

I used to hate house centipedes more than anything, but then I encountered a Jamaican forty-leg and realized it could be much, much worse. 😱
As for spiders, I tend to leave cellar spiders alone, but brown spiders and yellow sac spiders are a nope for me. I found a mantisfly in my house last week which was pretty cool.

I wish I could figure out how to keep a nice planted tank with my Bristlenose Pleco around. 😅 He just digs up everything no matter what I do.

Going fishing in a few hours I'm thinking Abt keeping a tiger trout in my 10 gallon aquarium!

QOTW: I don't mind spiders. I don't kill them on purpose but if one crawls on me I sometimes kill them by accident. If I see them outside I ignore them. If I see them indoors I either ignore them or put them outside, depending on the circumstances

QOTW: It depends on the spider. Not a fan of wolf spiders as they kind of creep me out (and I wouldn't want venomous ones in the house), but I love jumping spiders and they can hang out all they want. I tend to name them.

qotw: little ones are cute and can stay, especially the little jumping ones. Big and hairy, or chunky, or if they have long legs, they are gone. I once had a huge spider craw out from under the front of my car while I was driving. It was brown and hairy and about 3 inches across. It took every ounce of self control to stay calm and pull over to the side, rather than panic and kill us both. Worse than this though, it crawled back where it came from, before I could get it out. So for days I was anxious whenever I got in my car, knowing it was still there.

Yes, spiders are awesome. But also, if you have too many spiders in your house, you probably have an infestation of something else. Also house centipedes are awesome, too.

The real demon of any house is the Silverfish. My parents decided to redo the bathroom across from my room when I was 14, opened a huge hole in the wall. I woke up at 2 am with one crawing on my neck... *shudders* and the love paper, so a writer/reader's enemy to boot.

I live in Texas, so most of the spiders I see in the house are brown recluse. No I do not trap them and carry them outside. The other 10% are jumping spiders. I absolutely love them, so they are gently escorted out.

I'm mixed about spiders! If I see one in the house I usually move them outside, but sometimes leave them, never kill. I don't mind some of them walking on me! Unless I don't notice them coming... they need to get consent ):

I love Mondays. Its my Friday. And if a spider is venomous I'll definitely kill it. But if ots not I'll catch it and let it go outside.
