Although people often associate dictaphones with lawyers or doctors, these devices have a wide range of uses. Sure, you can record on your phone but who wants to tie up their phone for hours at a time.
This is one of the smallest dictaphones that Sony makes which makes it a perfect choice for videographers. Slip one of these in e.g. a jacket pocket at a wedding and you'll unobtrusively be able to get audio recorded closer than you maybe otherwise could. The quality might not quite be as good as your camera shotgun mic but compared to your camera mic from 5 metres away, it's a much better solution.

Based on my experiences, Sony ICD-TX660 is much better at capturing human voices. The audio level is louder compared to ICD-UX570 even though both are set at Medium.

Er, limited. Good enough to hear and understand vocals but it's pretty much like listening to headphones.
