    I just want to add that while I am in the same camp who wants all games to be 60 fps, I don't recall any part of the original Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on GameCube specifically requiring that. Sure, it makes the game smoother to play and would be nice to have, but I don't think the game "truly" needs it.
    Now, if we're talking games like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart, then yeah 60 fps is a must...but for games that are more "relaxed" like Animal Crossing and Kirby, I think those games are just as good without the smooth framerate.

    Well, I've weighed in on this debate in a lot of different places at this point, so to summarize, I really don't think the 30 FPS is a big deal and really do feel as if a lot of people are blowing it out of proportion or tend to compare the remake to the original in every way they can, then get upset at any minor downgrade that they find.
    Something I've seen everywhere that particularly gets under my skin, is the notion that Nintendo is just being lazy by not having a 20-year-old game run as good as it used to. The thing is, this is not a 20-year-old game anymore. This is a full remake. Not to mention, making assumptions about the development process, or how easy it would've been for them to make the game run at 60 FPS isn't fair in my opinion. Nobody was there to watch the development process happen. Like it or not, sacrifices have to be made. No game developer ever has made a game that's everything they wish it had been. Sure, sometimes large game companies simply don't want to put in the time and money to make their game truly shine, but everything else about this remake flies right in the face of the idea that the developers were just being lazy.
    I completely understand being disappointed by the lower framerate. I would obviously prefer if it was 60 FPS, but a lot of people are taking it way too far.

  • @chibi2239
    @chibi2239 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Honestly, they have no case here. Every major point I've seen has a rebuttal.
    "why can't this Remake of a GameCube game get to 60fps?!"
    Because they rather obviously invested on the visuals and animations looking STUNNINGLY better, which would be harder for the switch to process at 60. (Especially during the many "crowd" scenes in the game.)
    "The framerate cut will affect the action commands!"
    Yes...and that's LITERALLY why they added that new purple toad NPC. He's literally there to teach you the new timings for EVERY MOVE and even superguards. They knew it would affect the gameplay and did something about it...for you, the players. It effects it IN a SENSE, but they rather clearly developed the remake with 30 in mind.
    "They've made the Remake a downgrade from the original!"
    Real talk? People saying this one are EXTRA dumb because they clearly have not been paying attention. The game is doing nearly EVERYTHING better than the OG, including addressing the infamous "backtracking." The framerate is pretty much the only "issue" (if it even IS one).

    I'll be playing TTYD for the first time on Switch after admiring the game from afar for several years, and it honestly makes me a bit sad to see that the people who, I'll remind you, WANTED this remake to happen are the ones most determined to tear it down.
    This isn't Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, people. It's not a blatant, unapologetic middle finger to the longtime fans; it's a quality remake of an excellent game that deserves to be in the public eye. It's Thousand Year F*cking Door, the game that Nintendo is apparently 'not allowed' to make Mario spin-offs like anymore, coming back from the dead. Can you really not see how amazing that is all by itself? Can you not see the sheer amount of effort that has clearly gone into every single aspect of this remake?
    This game is the antithesis of modern Pokémon. It's been given time. Effort. Quality control. Love. All the things that the Pokémon Company feels no need to bother with anymore because "It will sell well anyways." And you people are chucking a wobbly because it doesn't run like a PS5 game? Get over yourselves. Jeez.
    Seriously, I thought the Origami King stans, if anyone, would be the ones trying to tear this remake down. I mean, the lengths that the OK fans will go to just to spite people like Arlo for spite's own sake is almost comical.

  • @HardCorePoration
    @HardCorePoration 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I'm sorry but I found Origami King absolutely sluggish to play through and that's precisely because of the 30fps. When I applied the 60fps patch it felt better to play. Origami King was also not as context sensitive as TTYD was so it's not the fairest of comparisons. They give you so much leeway for action commands in that game, and the reason for that is most likely to account for the low latency caused by the lower frame rate.
    Bug Fables was still 60fps on the Switch and felt better to play as it was more responsive. Same with Dream Team and the 3DS Mario and Luigi games when the frame rate was downgraded there. Those games felt a lot less kinetic compared to their DS and GBA counterparts. FPS is something I notice when playing games, especially if they pair in with egregious amounts of motion blur to hide the low frame rate, which thankfully this remake does not appear to have opted to do.

      Plus, calling it a 20-year-old game is simply not accurate. Yes, it is a remake based on a 20-year-old game, but that doesn't mean it itself is a 20-year-old game. Just looking at it, you can see that the visuals have been completely revamped. There's entirely new lightning, reflection, and all sorts of other things that are meant to greatly enhance the visuals. The idea that it should be able to run just as well as the original without issue is very much a misconception about how game development works. Some sacrifices pretty much always have to be made along the way. Nobody was there to see what challenges the developers faced and given all the heart and care that's going into every other aspect of the remake, I'm certain that the developers are doing their absolute best. It's not even just super guarding to be honest. 60fps also results in smoother animations which help complement the pop up book art style of the original game, probably why the developers created the game with 60fps in mind in the first place. The 60fps resulted in very smooth and springy animations for its characters. Input also feels more responsive when moving around at higher fps, which all adds up to a more satisfying gameplay experience. Sure, 30fps is fine, I guess, but it is THE major advantage that the original has over the new version, and once the novelty of new visuals wears off, I don't see myself replaying the remake because of it.

    Anyone that cares about 60 fps needs to touch grass, the difference is something no one will notice unless they're tryharding a fighting game

      It's not censoring for crying out loud, it's just a very minor script changes, the game STILL holds the same vibe from the og, so stop pretending this is "censorship" or that 30 FPS will ruin the game, the game is still gonna be amazing

      @@kingdomheartsgamer8771 if he is "woke" then you are mentally ill for making a fuss cuz you want cat calling in a game lol like i get it's the the ttyd you grew up with but get over it it's not impacting the story in any meaningful way it's a scene you probably mash through every time you play the game after the first run(be honest), i don't understand why people are willing to die on such a small hill one that again most people skip the dialog of after the initial playthrough since they are just wanting to get through the prologue.

      @@zombiegod34 This a-head is all over the comments section of the overview trailer on Nintendo of America's channel, being the most obnoxious troll he can possibly be. He jeers about the frame rate, about that it's a remake at full price (something Nintendo has ALWAYS done), about that some dialogue is changed (seemingly for censorship reasons) and calling Nintendo woke for it, and about the whole "removing their IPs from Garry's Mod" thing.
      He bullies fans looking forward to it, says paying for it is morally wrong, says pirating it is morally right, says the game will fail, says Paper Mario was NEVER good, says Nintendo is the worst company in the world, says they're going to and NEED to go out of business, says they'll be bought by Microsoft, and says that they'll become third-party.
      TL; DR - He's everything you could hate in a troll (obnoxious, petty, hypocritical, inconsistent with what he says, etc.) and is without a doubt the most toxic hater of this game I've come across so far.
