my absolute favourite is the percy tricking annabeth scene. his fatal flaw of loyalty T_T aaghhh he was dying and still he was thinking so hard how to get her out of that situation... like you can visibly see how fast he was thinking in his eyes
I KNOWWWWWW!! THE SLOW BURN IS SLOW BURNING BUT ALSO IMAGINE HOW HARD THAT'S GONNA HIT WHEN THEY REVEAL HIS FATAL FLAW
It’s also a clever character moment kind of change that replaces the more abstract idea of protecting mortals - not that it’s bad, but the audience is primed to care more for people we know and so Percy taking the fall for Annabeth and Grover hits harder.
Also love the design for Chimera (who in the books was male, but is female in the myths - her name literally means “she-goat”), giving her a single head with features of all three animals (lioness, a cobra and a goat) on the body, and alsoa scorpion tail stinger. And making Echidna that false-sweetness type of malicious makes for a far more memorable one-off antagonist than the sour old lady of the books.
Rick said they're changing things to set up plots and arcs early, so Annabeth revealing her story _was_ intentionally placed, and was given the seal of approval by Rick, so there's a plan there. [this next doesn't apply to you, just the naysayers to the show] A lot of people seem to be conveniently forgetting that he said they were changing things to make the story flow better
thank you! i've seen a lot of ppl who've read the books complaining about the pace in the show is different from the book but if they do a copy pasta of the book then it's really not worth it. it's great that they have the alterations which is what an adaptation also does
if it's uncle rick approved that's all we need!
About Annabeth's story, she does tell that to Percy in the first book! But it's a bit later, on their way to Vegas.

Percy encourages her to give her father another chance in TLT if I'm not mistaken, which she does at the end of the book
About the water, Rick didn't realize the water was so far away from the actual Arch irl so he found a way around it, with Poseidon finally showing up and saving Percy. And about the Tunnel of Love, Aphrodite doesn't show up yet! Iirc she shows up in Titan's Curse. Here we were supposed to only have Ares, but there's a chance another god may show up... 😊
I'm super excited for next episode, the trio has been hyping it up as peak Percabeth + an amazing non-book interaction so I'm pretty excited! Love the show, can't wait for the following episodes!

I love that Echidna takes the form of Karen lol. Just her body language and smile and how she conducts herself is such Karen energy. Mother of monsters for sure LMFAO

Can't get over just how good the casting is for this show!!! Suzanne Cryer as Echidna was just perfect. And I love that Percabeth is slowly burning...
What interesting is that she worked alongside Ryan Reynolds in a sitcom two guys and girl while the kid that plays percy played a yonger version of ryan Reynolds's character adam in the adam project on netflix
@@clintbrew Wow, I love that Ryan Reynolds is the common thread.😂 He's worked with everyone lol. It makes me wonder if Walker will make a cameo in Deadpool 3🤔 He would be the perfect kid version of Deadpool since he's already played a younger version of Ryan before.
8:18 Annabeth actually tells her backstory to Percy in the first book like how she ran away because of her step mom. And I believe we just get more information about Annabeth's father in the Titan's Curse (book 3 - not in book 4 with the labyrinth)

We don't meet Aphrodite next episode. She has not been cast. We should meet her next season as planned. It's her husband, Hephaestus, we see, I believe. He was cast.

We've all gotta be careful about comparing the book and the show too much for a couple of reasons. First being, let the show do its thing, it's allowed to change things to improve Rick's story (and all changes are approved by him) and set up future seasons. Second being, not just you but a lot of people misremembering the books. I saw at least half a dozen people forget that Gabe spoke the prophecy in the Oracle scene. My suggestion is watch the whole episode first and if you think somethings different that you didn't like, pick up and book and double check.
for sure! rick is making the changes for a reason and if it helps set up for the following seasons and makes sense overall story wise, i'm down for it
I think they talk about pan in this episode because introducing this earlier in ep 2 would have been way too much information all at once to take in. With it introduced in this ep, it has a more quiet space in the series to actually stand out
That’s also why the hellhound and (hopefully temporarily) Argus weren’t in Episode 2, they needed to work with their budget and not be overloading the story.

Okay update on the 6th book, without giving you any spoilers, ill tell you the reading order, you should probably not read it after the 5th book, more like after heroes of Olympus, and before trials of apollo. Also, reading magnus chase wouldn't hurt before chalice of the gods
Also, you are correct - Rick had no idea when he wrote that scene that the water wasn't right next to/underneath the arch, so obviously, that scene needed to be rethought lol. I like it better, though, and it all leads into Percy's feelings about everything so far which are completely understandable. Also, I agree on the changes to this episode - I don't think it would have worked as well with the way it was written. This made it more intense and dramatic, likewise with changing it from a jump to him falling instead (which again, makes sense since he's not above water.)
i've never been to st louis either so reading it i didn't question it but seeing it in the show it's a big time huh?? haha but glad they were able to fix it through the show!
