Great video Hana! As someone who read the original series and the Heroes of Olympus series, I am totally okay with all the changes. They just work so well with the storytelling of the show. Plus if I wanted a 1:1 version of the story then I could just go read the books. I like that these changes feel intentional and not just shoved in to be different. Like it makes sense why they'd change stuff up and it works better in the end anyway. Also once again Percabeth was too good in this episode. That "seaweed brain" just made my entire week.
Along with just liking how they changed and adapted this episode in general (the golden chair trap, the Percabeth slow burn, Grover sussing out Ares by appealing to his ego with both truth and technicality), their use of Hephaestus was great. They even cast Timothy Omundson, an actor with an actual disability to play him (he had a stroke in 2017 that paralysed his side, and so needs a cane to get around).
Your reaction at 4:36 at the hug by Annabeth would probably be a lot more extreme now that the PJO Instagram posted BTS angles of scenes of this ep and PERCY HUGGING ANNABETH BACK WAS FRAMED OUT OF THE EP!!!!
About the lotus hotel: I don't believe it's ever said that the lotus hotel only collects kids. Percy runs into a lot of kids while he's in there, but adults are allowed to be there too. Also, I don't think we'll be seeing an official Nico. If we just look at how quickly Walker and crew have aged, their Nico actor would age out of the role very quickly if they casted him a whole two season before his first appearance
18:00 I was wondering the same but lately I've been thinking especially after this episode that it's an unlock. Like how he said he's figuring it out as he goes along. What if it's something they make happen once he's more comfortable with the water. Cause even in this episode Percy is more frantic in the water than chill like he is in the books. Like how in the show they had the flashback with him being afraid to swim.
Also, I just want to say that I love your reactions. I think people are being too harsh on this series. I'm glad that there's some thing that are being changed, because this book isn't perfect. Also, as others have said, they're not making changes just for changes sake, but for storytelling purposes and logistical purposes, and characterization purposes (like people being obsessed with the lack of spiders - apparently a production nightmare, so they scrapped it, and will add in Annabeth's aracnophobia later. His exact words were "IOU some spiders!") I'm loving the series, changes and all!
I think maybe they left that out because number one the water heals him and number two because it’s showing that he doesn’t really have control of his powers and I feel like as he gets more control of his powers as it goes on later in the books, but not being wet when he comes out of the water will come with that
I interpreted it the same as he not knowing he could breathe underwater, he is expecting to get wet on water so he just does as he doesn't know he can willingly not get wet
That, and Walker looks MORE attractive with his hair matted like that… JK; but seriously, there is an aesthetic appeal to it. Including when he sits down in the chair.
You are on Mark of Athena? Ohhh boy you'll gonna love it!! And idk if you'll make Heroes Of Olympus review as a whole or per book, but can't wait to see you finished! (I do wish you make spoiler review per book) note. I came back here to say that Aphrodite actually first met Percy on book 3, we didn't see her in book 1.
yeahhhh i'm starting to realize that reading the series in such a short amount of time is causing me to misremember details to certain books. but i just finished mark of athena and plan to make the heroes of olympus series video include more spoiler thoughts!
Yes, the fates were at the bus in the very beginning of the book on the way home from Yancy Academy. That is the only time they appear in the first book. They don't appear again until the end of TLO.
I feel like I remembered the “Percy, looking at Aphrodite, and seeing a version of Annabeth” thing happening (SPOILERS) in a Titans Curse when Annabeth gets taken and Percy forces himself onto the quest to go find her and runs into Aphrodite
@@justhana4779 lmao no problem! It’s been years since I read the original series so I could be wrong. Also reading everything in one week I’m sure has your brain on overload lol. Don’t sweat it!
Your comment about misremembering and condensing couldnt be more accurate. I'm constantly seeing complaints about this show having cut various events out but those events people cite don't happen until book 3 or book 4
Also I feel like the constant comparison to the books kind of just messes with your head, especially since you’re misremembering stuff 😭 The Lotus hotel has always had adults and Aphrodite doesn’t appear in the first book
i only wanted his eyes to be that way when he shows his 'godly' side so not the entire time he's on screen. and that's fair! i reread the entire series in a week so details of where they show up are def fuzzy but overall like how they are adapting the series

exactly! love the direction uncle rick and writers went with the changes

DID THEY REALLY? sdjfsdf

for sure! didn't think we'd see nico but maybe an easter egg to show that it's coming. but damn i really misremembered the lotus hotel lol

I think if they would've made Are's eyes fire red it would've looked corny as hell, but that's just my opinion. I'm glad they didn't do that 🙂
frl the fire would’ve looked stupid 😭
Maybe we'll get a cameo? Like after Percy beats him and he unleashes his godly form, he'll have fiery eyes for a second?
what @hufflepuff_halfblood said was what i was picturing, not the entire time he's on screen

ooh trueee that would make sense!
the lotus hotel and casino wasnt child only. It was all. Adults, teens, children
good to know! i don't know why i thought it was children only lol
@@justhana4779 dunno, it was founded by the lotus eaters after all, not peter pan lol
The reason why Percy not being wet is because it would be difficult for shooting water scenes with Percy. And points for Seaweed brain 🌊🧠

You’re making me doubt my memory now lol, but I don’t think the lotus casino is only for kids? It’s a casino so I always assumed it was mostly adults
LOL i'm so sorry. i am wrong about the lotus casino detail i really don't know why i thought that

👏👏👏👏
But I think it kinda is her fatal flaw. She thinks she can undo hefestus trap.
