Wow. Coincidence. I have a kona rove ltd and got a flat bar commuter a couple weeks ago as well. All-city professional supreme is what I chose. Enjoy the new ride
Thanks! Have always enjoyed leather saddles. I know they have their downsides but they work for me. (Although might change the saddle on the rove. On the trainer leather saddles get worked!)
Nice build! I love my flat bar gravel bike for commuting, adventures and just general riding. Also, very keen to hear your thoughts on basket commuting versus backpack commuting! EDIT: Although I will say, after many years on 650b, I have gone back to 700c.
That is a very good gravel/commuter/bikepacking bike. I have a similar bike by a different company in which I also changed out the handlebars, saddle, and pedals to ones I prefer over the original equipment. This made the bike near perfect for my needs. 1X front chainring is the only way to go if you don't need a race bike.
Cut sugar of any kind out of your diet for at least 2 months and see if you knee feels better. Ask me how I know. As you age your tolerance of sugar gets much lower and causes inflammation. Good video. I may get this bike.
This is fantastic! With the price point of the Poseidon I couldn’t help but wonder if this was actually a too good to be true situation. Where the bike ends up being a lunky POS that people who don’t know any better buy into because they’re just starting their cycling adventure. Your stamp of approval adds more validity to this brand than Poseidon could ever imagine! Great work! And I’m excited for what’s to come. Also sorry about your dang knee but you’re not a lone brother. Did just 11 miles on mine last night WITH A FRONT BREAK and my knees ain’t right today
I'm very interested in the Poseidon drop bar bikes, especially if/when they adopt the new MicroShift Sword groupset. Hope your knee pain improves -- might check videos by Phil Burt, Road Cycling Academy & Cade Media (Bike Fit Tuesdays) re: saddle height/knee pain. Thanks for the video!
I love my flatbar redwood but, be careful of the rear hub. I basically blew it up after about 2months and only 400-500 miles. Wheelsets for 650b are very cheap. Panaracer gravelkings are a great choice for this bike aswell.
Solid bike though, looks cool! Guarantee you the stock tyres were chosen because they were cheap at volume. Stock tyres are universally crap on every bike though, it's kinda like a tradition
I think the idea of a bike like the redwood as a commuter is great. Especially if you’re wanting a separate bike for commuting because it’s so affordable.
I had derailleur commuter bike for a few thousand km. way too much hassle keeping it smooth. it was a sora setup. now I'm running a nexus 8 igh. so far shifting is way better. but maintenance is no easier. still gotta clean chain and open up the igh once in a while to clean and lube.
Got the Poseidon X and spokes fell apart at 1.5 years. Saddle is garbage. Beautiful interstellar blue color and lots of bottle cage mounts. Great bike after updating saddle and rims.
Yep no surprises there. Wheels can sometimes be decent on a new bike but expect tyres, pedals, grips & seat to be cost saving measures. It's a widely known fact that most riders change these things fairly soon.
Those fixie riders would clown us gear bike owners. I would laugh, I grew up playing sports, in my mind I said see what your knees say at 40! You grew up player.
Could you not just have added a front brake to your track bike? My commuter is fixed with a disc brake front and i love it, do decent milage on it while carrying loads of shit for college or shopping in my panniers
I dig it. I like the idea of solid but cheaper frames being upgraded - especially when you already have the bits!
For sure Tim! I think the frame is solid for the asking price!
The TV box is a genius move😂 they will really handle it with care.
looks good. agree with a lot of your commuting thoughts on needs.
Very much interested about the basket
The trackbike I rode in the city daily has been hanging in my garage in Suburbia for 8 years. It reminds me of faster days😂
Glad to see towards the end of the video that you added a basket. I was going to ask… you buried the lead, lol. (I'm a basket nerd)
Yeah really digging the basket setup!

Really nice touch with the saddle.

Oh god
This sounds like an old wives' tale.

Looks great
I have the Rove DL and I like it.
Great foundation for sure, Josh! I have to Ultradynamico Cava’s on my commuter/basket bike and they roll like a dream!
Hey Pudgy! Haha was actually looking at the Cava's maybe a 2.2 !
@@JoshRomeroYT I have the 48’s but thinking the 2.2’s will replace them when they’re worn out.

Very cool! I’m kinda waiting to see if they release the x ambition with microshift sword
Thanks for comparing sizing to rove. I checked bikeinsights and the L is pretty close to my 54 rove and 56 midnight special.

Because they're the things most riders are likely to change immediately, next to pedals grips & seat I guess.
Hey what bars are those? Sick ride, btw.
Just curious why you picked the flatbar set up vs the drop down like you have on the rove
I have a trek domane al 2 and ordered a poseidon ambition x does not hurt to have a back up bike since I do not own a car
What front rack are you using? :)
I think the idea of a bike like the redwood as a commuter is great. Especially if you’re wanting a separate bike for commuting because it’s so affordable.
Considering it's a hybrid commuter bike I should think so 😂
What basket is that?

Edit: it would be easier to completely enclosed the chain now though to keep it clean.
stock tires should just be the cheapest ones they can source because almost everyone swaps them out to their favorite flavor.
I need a commuter to the fire station…for the price this is a winner.
Got the Poseidon X and spokes fell apart at 1.5 years. Saddle is garbage. Beautiful interstellar blue color and lots of bottle cage mounts. Great bike after updating saddle and rims.
Well yeah. As always most bikes come with garbage rims and seats.
Yep no surprises there. Wheels can sometimes be decent on a new bike but expect tyres, pedals, grips & seat to be cost saving measures. It's a widely known fact that most riders change these things fairly soon.
No fenders on a commuter? You must live a really dry and arid climate.

mine too. custom build. with 29 fork for upright position
Why are you whispering 😂
It's ASMR.
The fork is carbon
Fork is Aluminum. It looks like a carbon fork.
@@JoshRomeroYTOh you're right. I thought the Redwood had a carbon fork like the Poseidon X. Why did you choose the Redwood over the X or X ambition?
Wow you are ridding next to my house in this and i just randomly found this video hahah
Bars too wide but at least they’re flat
I like them things!
Very cool! I’m kinda waiting to see if they release the x ambition with microshift sword
