Really enjoyed that take, incredibly relaxing watching you draw River as you speak about him. I think you’re spot on about all of it, especially opening the door for others to then take his place. Fascinating to ponder what his career might have been if not for the trauma he faced. He was incredibly philosophical for such a young age. And if that’s not what would have happened, it’s fun to theorize. I particularly enjoy your genuine care for these actors gone too soon. Great vid, Hamish!
Thanks Jayson, I do like to take a Pollyanna view of what might have happened. I'm really glad you've been enjoying them. I've been taking your advice to be more off-the-cuff. The drawing videos seem to do well with audience retention, so I'm going to keep going with them. I feel like I get some insight while I'm drawing. Plus, I can use all that art school training. I'm planning on doing ones on Jean Harlow, Dorothy Dandridge (and her sister Vivian), Health Ledger, and maybe Judy Holliday. I know some subscribers are interested in Barbara Stanwyck, Cary Grant and Shirley MacLaine thanks to some polls I did. I'm still figuring out what I can do that's unique to celebrate the stars who have had full careers. Thanks again for taking time out to watch my videos. It's always an honor.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Sorry to hear that you have anxiety, but I’m glad you were able to relax watching my video. River achieved a lot in his lifetime, but he could have done so much more. I’m curious about his take on Andy Warhol.
@@HamishDownie He could play any role very well, he could see and feel things different than most people do. with River you always felt a special connection with the characters he was playing. He was always deep into the roles :)
Loved Matti Dillon in Van Zant´s Drug Store Cowboy but I could totally see River nailing that role. Would have been interesting to see him work with David Lynch as well. My Own Private Idaho has so much grace... I enjoyed watching you create your beautiful drawing while pondering River and his career. I´ve enjoyed Leonardo and Christian as well but River really left a void ... a uniqueness and individually, a one of a kind presence. Today I can imagine him taking on complex roles in exceptional television such as True Detective Season 1, Sharp Objects, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and Six Feet Under among others. Thank you Hamish. RIP River 1970 - 1993 edit Would love to see any material on David Lynch, Diane Lane, Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Winona Ryder, Francis Ford Coppola, Laura Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robin Wright, Lisa Bonet, and Xavier Samuels.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I can see River doing well in all those Peak TV shows. It also would have been interesting to watch him in a David Lynch film. I could see myself making a video on “Inland Empire” as I feel that Laura Dern did possibly the greatest performance of the 21st century in that movie. I did make a video on Robin Williams, and I’m planning on doing one on Health Ledger in the future.
@@HamishDownieYou´re welcome Hamish and Oooh yeah! Would love to watch your take on Inland Empire. Laura is an amazing actress! I´ll keep an eye out :)

You are absolutely right about his deep connection with his roles. I think his brother has a similar connection to his roles
