When he's visiting other countries, he's probably their best as well. Not many, if any, better than Me Finn. His back catalogue stacks up against anyone and he's still producing great songs. Can't wait to hear the new Crowded House material that's imminent.
I hadn't heard this version of "She Will Have her Way"! Wow it is so tightly arranged yet it soars ! The blend of voices and instruments and them reaching such a great crescendo. Love it!
Trying to cure my Crowded House fix this weekend, but not successful, thank God; It keeps growing, hearing Neil play with Fleetwood Mac touring a couple of years ago, then Tim and Neil together and their songs/performances, and now just cruising, letting the TH-cam take me wherever Neil is... The catalyst for memories is music, and cruising all around the State in my job at the time, listening to Crowded House, never having to hit "Fast Forward" or "Repeat", wanting to hear all the tracks, over, and over, ...I'll let the YT "drive", and love is, not having to hit the "Next" button; with Neil's voice and talent, it's definitely the "Stay"...
I want to specially appreciate you for being a big fan. Thanks for your nice. Comment on my post, it means alot to me . What a shame the sound production lost her mic, and just as well Neil sang so beautifully because I could barely hear Sinead, and she knew it, wandering over to his mic but too difficult to share. 🖤
Loved buying the laser etched lp of True Colours as a kid. Saw the Enz at Canberra Theatre, Australia on the tour for the album & their manager told them while they were on stage that their single I Got You had just gone No. 1 nationally & they WENT OFF. Fantastic.
Neil has the ability like all good songwriters to take a tune and take it in directions you didn't think existed like jeff lynne or barry gibb for example . Neil is just so great and as was shown with split endz so experimental even now
Nah come on, who ARE they all? They are ALL good! I want to know who they all are. I clicked on the link to Spotify above, but all it seems to say is that this was recorded in Sydney and that this was the last track in the small set of six. Does he introduce them all at the start of the first or second numbers? If anyone knows who else any of the other performers are here, please list them. They're all quite smooth and make this sound excellent, but the drummer and the BVs/tambourine woman about to burst with energy are both awesome.
Saw these guys on tour in Nottingham Uk and was really impressed with the young guys. Tiny Ruins were opening. It was a magic evening with my beautiful wife.
I played Try Whistling this every night when I was in hospital in 1998. This song, in particular reminds me of my sons, turning 24 in 2 days, one on earth and one in heaven.
Thank you. Neil was touring at the time also, and I've been a huge fan since I was 10. A few years later, I attended a Tim and Neil Finn concert, front row, heavily pregnant with my youngest. (now 18) Spilt Enz, Crowded House, Tim & Neil Finn's music has carried me through many times.. I could never listen to this song without crying for many years, now I listen and remember with love. My youngest son was born to Tim Finn's song as it was another emergency C-section. Angel's Heap. YES, I got to choose the music while we were in theatre. @@TheBrettWilson
I remember the original music video with Caitlin Keats playing his 50 foot woman girlfriend. I love that video and the music from this new version rocks! 😍
I'll get tired of this song and this live version. I think this song is one of Neil Finn's best and if I had to introduce him to someone, this one would give a good idea of what Neil Finn' music is.
Agreed. Not the hardest job in the world but apparently there are a lot of shitty sound engineers out there in the 21st century. This is much appreciated
Outside of the original studio recording, this live version captures best the joy inherent in this beautiful song. Jeff Powanda reckons it’s his favourite rendition. I am inclined to agree :)
No one writes feel-good music like this gentleman -- it may be the Irish genes but it always draws from a full, deep well of appreciation for being alive -- infinite gratitude for the music we can always go to . . .

This is brilliant guitar pop and I was always kind of surprised that it didnt go bigger on radio at the time. But I guess the commercial atmosphere was not so conducive to this kind of music in 1998, with boy bands and Brittany Spears and Christina Aquilira and dance music ruling the charts.
I love Neil - and Crowded House, of course - but not only is Tim's stuff with Split Enz (early '80s!) well worth a listen, the Finn Brothers album (1995) was also very good. Check 'em out!
I always adored this song and this is possibly the finest live performance of it that I’ve seen…. Neil you’ve been my musical and creative inspiration since I discovered Crowded House in 1994 - thank you
Love it, I recall seeing footage you performing this on your own not long after i brought the album 'try listening to this'. you seemed nervous and you mentioned something to the crowd about not being used to being on the stage on your own. Then you kicked off and you filled the stage. Awesome!
One of my favorite musicians... Neil Finn...earlier today I was listening to my True Colours and corroborree cd's... and if you haven't heard his song called Iris you are missing out.

Such a great performance you guys! Neil, you look like you've been spending some time on the beach. I'd love to visit Piha and see Lion Rock and walk along the beach. Much thanks and love from Alberta 💌
One of the most underrated artists/writers on the planet.
Fame is overrated; those who need to know know.
Really? His songs sold millions.. I think he did just fine.
Not underrated in the slightest. Quite the opposite actually.
Maybe by a few...
STOP CALLING GREAT STUFF 'UNDERRATED' !!! Neil Finn is one of the most respected musicians on the planet ffs.
New Zealand's finest ever songwriter? I think so. The man's musical talent is amazing.
I agree to that!
New Zealand's? Hell, how about Earth's?

Not sure how anyone could dislike this unless they were searching for Anthrax videos and this loaded by mistake.
Lovin Sharron's bass playing.

My favorite rendition of this song. What a tight session, and a perfect performance! Absolutely jubilant!
That's it jubilation!!
100%
I was just about to say how tight as duck this is
We get better as we get older.
Hearing this on "Felicity " back in the day made me jump for joy!
This is a fantastic song at the best of times but this studio version played live is just incredible! Kind of neck tingling stuff! Brilliant!

I love how his band is a total bunch of misfits, boy - girl, old - young, a blend of slick session players and loose soulful music lovers. Love it.
Isn't that Mrs Finn on bass?

It took him till 2014 to really play this song well in my opinion. Love the versions from this era.
Thought he did an amazing version of this with his 'Friends' for the Seven Worlds Collide sessions in the early 2000s.
Sharon's tone is so good :D
