    Good morning from Colorado! I just heard about you on Periwinkle Stitcher's floss tube and I am so ecstatic to find a different finish than chenille or pompons. I have never heard of bristol paper but will be researching it. I plan on watching all of your floss tubes!

    Thank you for acknowledging my work! I'm always trying to finish in new ways. Great tutorial, never thought of measuring...

      I'm incredibly honored that you watched my tutorial since you came up with the method - so clever, and so original. It was absolutely inspired. Your spacing looked perfect so it's a testament to your eye that you did it without measuring - I need a ruler!

    Hi Katie ~ thank you for this wonderful video. I discovered you from watching Brenda & Laura and am now very excited to buy the beads & everything else I need to add some delicate looped beaded edging to some of my small cross stitch projects. This afternoon I am going to begin at the beginning and listen to all of your videos . . . and I also subscribed. I love your teaching style! Once again ~ amazing video!

    Many thanks for this great tutorial. I have ordered my beads, thread, needles and wool roving. Is there a finishing tutorial on making cross stitch into a pillow? I found your finishing tutorial on flat ornament finishing so very helpful. I am unable to print off your notes on each video on my iPad. Is there a “master” list that would mention all your cross stitching so far and the supplies used for each. Basically, I am wanting all your notes in one place. I can’t wait to see your supply choices for Blueskin. I have the pattern and I am glad I waited to stitch the design in silk! A convert here and a big THANK YOU
    for all your inspiring projects.

      Vonna the Twisted Stitcher did a great tutorial on pillow finishes, although I use wool roving to stuff rather than polyfill (you have so much more control with wool roving) and Kinkame to slip stitch edges closed.
      And no, I don't even have a master list myself, just scribbled notes on various charts! Getting all that information in one place and up on my website is something I've been meaning to do but haven't gotten around to. Copy/paste into the notes app or similar would be the best way to go about it. You'll love the colors for Blueskin, I am making some progress and it's turning out really well. Spoiler: grab some Legacy Linen 38 ct. Vermeer Blue now as I don't think it's still in stock at the distributor and may become hard to find. I usually try to use fabrics and threads that are active colors but this linen was just too perfect and there is still Vermeer Blue floating around at retailers.

    Thank you for sharing your technique! I plan to try this because your tutorial is thorough and clear. I'd like to ask about your pillow filling...it is full but nicely shaped. The whole pillow volume is filled but not distorted into a round square with winged corners.

    • @katiestrachanembroidery
      @katiestrachanembroidery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! So that's the benefit of wool roving, which is what I use to stuff my pillow finishes. It has body and gives you a lot of control over your desired look, you can stuff it very firmly or less so. I like a kind of intermediate look and then usually press down from the backing fabric to give it a nice shape. I can't recommend wool roving highly enough, it is more expensive than poly fill but so much nicer to work with, and gives great results.

    Hi Katie, great demo. You might like Jamie Cloud Eakin's book Bead Embroidery Techniques Vol 2 - Edges. Most of the edging techniques she shows are more suitable for heavier fabrics, but some of them could be used to edge an embroidered piece like yours. Jill Wiseman Beads is another great source for beads in the U S.

      Thank you! I've just ordered the Eakin book as that sounds like a great source of new ideas.

      @@katiestrachanembroidery thank you so much. I’m trying your Bristol paper & felt method TY so! Much for showing that! I sure need practice at how to finish projects & I really appreciated your explaination! I have to find out where to purchase those beautiful gem beads. That finish was just gorgeous. I’m going to try that on a smaller piece I worked but I fear I cut the corners too close to I’m trying to back stitch the way you suggested! 💕💕🥰
