I have a question. When he's duplicating the rim at around 15:52, why not just use mirror modifier instead? Cuz when I tried to duplicate the rim to the other side and bridge edge loop them, sth looks odd, like they are overlapping... :(
Thank you sir! I created the rim directly from a cylinder, but you helped me a lot with the tire model. Now I need to model the brake caliper, add some texture and my first car in Blender is ready.
Glad yo hear! You can learn many more on my courses ( www.berkkaplan.com ) and there is 25% black friday discount at the moment, so don't miss it please :)
Hi! Probably a stupid question but... cannot grab the circle with eyedropper data block (as you do on 3:05). Any ideas why? Same with empty (plain axes for example). Thanks in advance.
It's because there are 2 types of circles : the standard which you can have from "mesh" tab (when you do SHIFT A ) and the bezier circle which is in the "curve" tab, you need to pick the bezier circle to use the curve modifier.
Thank you so much, this tutorial has shed more light to my project 😊. Just a polite request, would you do another video on how to create batteries, power converter and brakes on blender?
@@akagispeedstars ok thx! The other issue I have is with the empty plain. As soon as I select it as the array target my tire tread1 scatters all over the place. The few times I had it close to working the tire tread would twist all out of sorts.
I'm just starting out on Blender after several years on 3DS Max. I know how to draw, I know how to model, but I'm still confused by some shortcuts and commands in Blender. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great video! I'm a ZBrush user , but I think Blender is better for solids. I'm still discovering it, however I found how easy and quick you can model solids!. This wheel is an example. I will go more in depth to find out more on this wonderful software. Thanks!
Great to hear that thanks! On my online courses (beginner and advanced) I go deeper on car design. So if you are interested in, check out my website please www.berkkaplan.com :)
Hey berk this is Rakesh:), I want to know that ,if we are graduated from a Italian design school with bachelor's in car design can we expect even 50%of skilled students gets a intern in design studio from the whole class
Hi Rakesh! %50 of whole class is difficult. But amongst the skilled ones, with good portfolio, yes it is possible :) In my time we were around 20 students in masters class, 3-5 of us had internship opportunity right after studies. Focus on your skills, push yourself over the limits, create an amazing portfolio and of course you have a chance! ;)
when I go to extrude after mirroring it, they both go right. What I would like, is for one side to go left and the other side to go right. I'm trying to make a tire and my tires Tred runs the same way it's not a left and right sided tire Tred. if you know what I mean all I want to do is make the perfect Coker 520 tire and my Tred runs the same way but when I add a mirror my Tred ends up left and right, but let's say I got the Tred to be the right way now when I extrude it both sides go right instead of left and right need some help with that Thanks
thats a good question! I'm planning the new course and thinking about what it should include. So there is a possibility on parametric too, let's see :) thanks for the suggestion!
Very glad to hear! I have new advanced course coming. Right now it's pre-order (in a week I will release the course) and has 50$ discount. So if you are interested in better methods, please check out my website :) www.berkkaplan.com
Thanks for this tutorial! I am in need of custom wheels for a model car I am working on (Billet Specialties RAIL style). You could knock it out in a few minutes. Please let me know if we can arrange something. Thank you!
Awesome tutorial man. I wish you would do a P51 Mustang rim. They had 8 triangles pointed inwards and Ive not been able ro duplicate it. There might be enough info info here to do one just need to get back home and tinker.
sure, did you watch this video? : th-cam.com/video/PYQnonE1UY0/w-d-xo.html there I talk with my friend Ankur on education system as well. so check it out :)
@petermego8023 it's not a tutorial for total beginners. Sorry to disappoint, after my "Blender for Car Design - For Beginners" course, you can easily follow this and many more tutorials. If you are interested in check the beginners course at berkkaplan.com :)
You're one of the best Automotive Design educators online (beside Frank Stephenson). Total respect from fellow automotive designer.

When I apply all transforms to my circle the mirrored section gets blown all over the place. Any ideas as to why?
use ctrl + a: all transforms, do this after you pick it as an array
