I'd imagine the event that caused Ash to be a Pikachu Is he fused his Soul with Pikachu so he TURNED into Pikachu before dropping into the Mystery Dungeon universe
I actually had a thought after I posted this comment, this is based off mystery dungeon. So this leads me to believe a similar fate to another mystery dungeon PC befell Ash, essentially Pikachu might have been very hurt protecting Ash, and that somehow lead to him finding himself here. Similar to the PC and Gardevoir from the Rescue Games?
Oh neat idea. Now I winder if Ash will adapt his usual out of the box strategies into his battles and dungeon missions here. Speaking of missions, I wonder if this going for Rescue, Exploration, or Expedition Team? Will this have an original story or be based on the existing ones like most PMD fics are these days. Well besides certain exceptions of course.
This was a nice watch, I'm excited to see where you take the story going forward, there's an absurd amount of room for storytelling in a scenario like this, and I'm hoping we get something out of this for a while.

It would be interesting if Ash could tap into any aura abilities there was a lot of missed opportunities in the anime for that 😢😢😢
