👍 Thanks! That Malibu is such a very sweet build indeed. Too many casual drag fans might believe it’s just about cubic inches and power adders, but it’s clear that you know better. Suspension, traction, building for consistent reliability, proper gearing, and so on are required to win events, like Charlie Brown did on the next night at the Christmas Tree Drags. You may have seen its 6.60 runs at well over 200MPH?
@ Yes, it’s a 3.00 rear gear that was just installed this week so that they could run 1/4 mile instead of their usual 1/8th. 28” tire, just 275 wide! And there are many engine builders that offer 700+ci Big Blocks…
Interesting thing was that they said it was the easiest car to drive. Just point and shoot. The NOS was triggered automatically. He doesn’t even bump the TH400 between gears, it shifts itself. All he had to do was work with a steering wheel and two pedals. Kinda like that blue car in the next lane? 🤔
👍 That Malibu is such a very sweet build indeed! And beyond the cubic inches and NOS, these guys know what it takes to win: Suspension, traction, building for consistent reliability (ignition and fuel delivery), proper gearing, and so on. good stuff. they need to have an electric category. it's just not the same man. nothing against teslas or anything electric. fast, reliable and can do it over and over again. that's awesome. but it takes skill and knowledge about your car to drive stuff that fast and not destroy your ride. in these you simply hit the gas and go. electric just dilutes the fun. but i can't knock anything, if it makes you the driver happy that's all that matters. some people never experience that. stay safe man!
Totally get the sentiment. It's a different beast for sure. We built Camaros (69, 74, 78) and Mustangs for years. Our last was a foxbody 5.0L LX 5-Speed on nitrous. A handful to drive. We wouldn’t trade those years for anything. Older now, backaches flare up when leaning into an engine bay for hours. So we like the newfound reliability: almost 2000 passes in our 2 Teslas (low 9s and mid 10s) without an issue! 😃
@ that's awesome man. glad you got to experience all the good stuff as well. but yeah from that perspective backaches alone, i could understand wanting to test the electric route. but 2000 passes without an issue is insane! glad your having fun man thats what its all about. good luck out there!
