    Great job Brown family, I understand but it’s still funny to hear you say, 305hp is a little under powered when I come from an era where a 150/170hp tractor was a beast🤣keep em comin guys 🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸

    Unfortunately, the rain cost you some yield, but c'est la vie, c'est la farm!

    I guess dollars per acre per bushel is what matters for your combine costs. How much money from every bushel goes to harvest the crop. As for draper belts near enough does not cut the mustard. If a belt cost $1000 and you get it to last a few extra seasons by paying careful attention to alignment, bearings and brackets etc, an hour or two spent from time to time is like earning an extra $100 an hour. I like to work things out in bushels needed to pay for something. Kind of puts things in perspective when fixed costs to plant, spray, fertilize and rent ground uses up most of the bushels. Unnecessary breakdown chew into what's left over very quickly. We had three season of tricky weather. Hoping for more consistent years now that ocean currents have flicked back. That's farming in NZ for you. Loved the video.

    Very interesting, thankyou for sharing. That looked a very good wheat crop you were combining.

  • @DonWelter
    @DonWelter ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks like you made good progress on cutting wheat and putting in double-crop beans. Now all you need is a good soaking shower along with the heat and humidity to get them up and growing.

    Even though at the time of this video you haven't had many hours in it, but if you were in the market for another tractor would a Massey Ferguson be a good option? Kinda sweet seeing the Massey Ferguson out there with the gleaner.

  • @jamesbreault5762
    @jamesbreault5762 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    That is a great looking tractor i agree it could use 50 more horse power and if you call Chet at larson farms he can hook you up with a co that can increase that HP and still keep factory warranty

    • @chucklesx
      @chucklesx ปีที่แล้ว

      Manufacturers warranty tractors at factory rated power settings. If you increase them either mechanically or through reprogramming the ECU your warranty is void. You may get lucky and they don't notice but if they do you are getting the bill for any repairs.

    Brian I noticed that your planting double crops at like 10 degrees off from the line of the combine does that help get the seeds through the wheat straw.

    • @raymondo162
      @raymondo162 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think the angle is to prevent ruts forming in the field. the purpose is to get a smooth level field surface, which is easier on the machines, as well as drivers.

    • @BriansFarmingVideos
      @BriansFarmingVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It also helps get to the bare ground. If I drove right on the old seed furrow I’d have trouble getting through the roof ball.

  • @domination1985
    @domination1985 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There's another reason you leave it on the field and that is every nutrient but you take off of it is something that you got to add back so that chaf that you leave behind just breaks down back into the ground as nutrients

Cheers n beer's from Methven New Zealand guy's. Can't wait to see the new shop in action and ya house looks great 👍🏻🍻🚜👨🏼‍🔧

    Brian...where do you get the music you use...like when Dad was harvesting wheat starting at 9:50 in video?

  • @jackwillie2729
    @jackwillie2729 ปีที่แล้ว

    You mention the yield...Dad back in the 60's had oats in a low area announced to me that we'd harvested 110 bushel acre oats...things were just right for it..right deep black soil with a lot of peatmoss and if it got rain at the right moments yield was craze...but if not which in most case was the outcome..

    When you plant the beans at a different angle than the wheat do you have to make a new perimeter for the field or do you just have to establish a new A - B line?
