Thellaru is close to my hometown Kanchipuram which was ruled by Pallava Kings prior to the rise of later cholas which attained its peak under Rara Raja cholan I and Rajendra Cholan I. Pandia Kings were from Madurai and it is highly improbable they moved so much north in those days. Rivers and small mountain ranges acted as natural barriers for the movement of army as there were not many bridges over rivers etc. River cauvery running in Trichy is impossible to cross except in peak summer months. otherwise they need to use parisals which are not very convenient for mass transport.

There was only one great invasion by one of the war commander an enunch named Malik Kafur under Alauddin Khilji during early 1300s. He came all the way down from Delhi to Madurai with his huge armies and ransacked Pandia kingdom. Historians say he marched back with all the wealth looted from the invasion said to be carried on the backs of thousands of elephants (I am not responsible if you think that in present day situation it is done legally in the name of GST etc. every month).
