So there was a recent Helluva boss panel that happened and Viv mentioned how a Stolas fan song is becoming canon and getting a music video in December. I am 100% sure it's gonna be this masterpiece. I love how in the official video, the lyrics change to make it actually Canon! Here are the differences: "Come now, my little impish plaything, we both made our choice" changes to "But dearest, I know better now. I must give you this choice." This is probably because of stolas's development compared to the pilot / early episodes, where now he is shown to romantically care for Blitzø as well. "What's left for me in this broken house" was changed to "what's left for me and my broken heart" Probably changed to highlight Stolas's heartbreak but also his love for both Octavia and for Blitzø. "Is this what she'd feel? Abandoned all alone and left to fend for herself? Got some semblance of happiness that doesn't have to end" was changed to "Is this what you feel? Scorned by a realm that cannot comprehend. What you are, so I'll grant you this mercy this bind- on our souls needs to end" I'm guessing "she" is Octavia, but this was probably changed, once again to more keep the focus on Blitzø rather than Stolas's family. There's a couple more minor changes too, but it's so awesome they used a fan song and animated a music video for it!
Tbh, I understand the changes but personally I find the song more heavy hitter with mentioning Octavia. It just makes the whole song more painful and realistic sounding by painting Stolas as a more real person. That's just what I feel like, anyway.
I second that. The Octavia bit was critical to the meaning. I do think the “impish plaything” verse skimmed over Stolas’ character development, but I also think that removing the Octavia verse did the exact same thing.
I'm hoping that my take on episode 6 is right and that Blitzo is going to be a bit more willing to open up. Of course it is going to go to hell because, well, that's the setting, but that sweet bright moment in counterpoint will be nice. Episode 6 sold a lot of tickets to this ship.
Blitzo is unconsciously hurting the people close to him, by keeping relationships distant. And maybe a past trauma may have caused him to be this way, or simply because he's trying to protect himself.
This is a masterpiece it really embodies Stolas wanting to be with Blitzo and not knowing if he feels the same or if he’s the issues and even relating to Stella and how she must feel 10/10

PDJ's decided to sit here on the spectrum of cowardly to brave probably to avoid upsetting anyone and/or to avoid looking (to themselves or others) like they're writing their own headcanon. They would do well to be on the spindlehorse team if needed, where they can then be brave with lyrics and whatnot, break the predictable, shallow mold they have to sit in presently to avoid upsetting as many people as possible. They do what they can with the same information we have access to, cut'em some slack.

I personally think the "She" in this song isn't Stella, but rather Octavia. Stolas cares more for Octavia than Stella, and Octavia expressed fears of being alone, abandoned by Stolas, in episode 2.

Me, before the release of episode 7: damn, it's so sad, it's literally breaking my heart... Well, the good thing is that in the canon Stolas is not so attached to Blitz. Me, now: FUCK.
I refused to not notice this small detail so I am going to put my thoughts into a comment. The flowers that Stolas summons are quite interesting choices. So I went to search up flower meanings to try and refresh my memory on it, and this is what I've found: The yellow daffodil in the beginning symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings, something that Stolas most likely wants with Blitzo; a new beginning, a fresh start away from the previous life he had despite the fact he can't really escape it. When the flowers change, I wanna say it's a pale red variant of a carnation. Pale red carnations specifically symbolize admiration and "my heart aches for you", which Stolas no doubt feels for Blitzo, longing and aching to be with him in a proper and loving relationship. I just absolutely adore and appreciate that small detail. Just a little edit; was not expecting all the likes and comments XD and I love hearing other peoples' thoughts on the matter and the like! I've only done a wee bit of light research so it's very neat to hear these other meanings for the flowers :)

It especially hits you in the gut after the latest episode "oops", because Stolas wants to find out how Blitzø really feels about him and if the grimoire is maybe the only thing holding Blitzø to him. "I will try to make amends " and "If you stay..." perfectly reflect the wish Stolas has that even if Blitzø becomes independent of the grimoire, he'll still stay with Stolas because he cares for him

Man, this is beautiful. In a way, Stolas and Blitz are very much alike. They are both broken-hearted individuals who crave love and affection but have issues keeping them from achieving such goals in a true fashion-Blitz's fear of and inability to understand true intimacy, Stolas's social restraints as a member of demon royalty. Yet, they both have so much potential to become genuinely beautiful people capable of so much love. In some ways, they have already realized a little of that potential, in the form of their relationships with Luna and Octavia-a bit troubled but still genuine and loving.

After watching Episode 7 part 1, I would find this song super fitting when stolas gets dropped off and begins to sing while walking through his massive manor.
After season 2 episode 1 this hits even harder. I mean it's like you can look into the future. How can this be that accurate? It's amazing. And now it's just more painful to be honest. So even now this is an incredible work and even better after s2 ep1
this is a very difficult situation, since their relationship was built on a transaction: we bang once a month so i can keep using this book. The struggling thing is when Stolas starts to catch feelings, of course Blitz isn't going to feel the same automatically because he only see this as a transactional thing, and him having the issues he has with past relationships just adds to that! I feel the emotion in this song when Stolas says, "its not enough to get through the walls you've conjured up to live" I really hope Blitz doesn't go back to how he was before and he starts to become more open with his feelings for stolas and just in general. Paranoid, u did an amazing job, really!
Blitz has feelings too. That's the tragedy of it all. He just doesn't believe that Stolas' feelings are genuine. Episode 7 at the end, when Stolas wanted him to come in just to talk and cuddle, Blitz said: "I know you just want me to fuck you."
This is beautiful. You nailed Stolas's voice both in voice acting and singing. Granted, it's not exactly the same as Bryce's but your take on Stolas's voice is still very much in-character. This entire song is beautiful. You can feel Stolas struggling to figure out why Blitzo is being so distant towards him. Then the subtle shift in volume and tone when he realizes that HE'S the reason why. That shuddery little intake of breath before the final chorus... Great bit of voice acting. Loved this song. You did a fantastic job 👏👏👏

I am so glad Truth seekers came out, because, man, it is good to see that Blitz does have feelings for Stolas. Just that the poor imp has insecurities that prevent him from being vulnerable to someone else. Now as for this. THIS, is absolutely beautiful. Your voice acting and sound design is always superb, but the way you capture character so well in these original songs is really something else. The final verse when Stolas realizes he's only been thinking about himself and he's making his family just as lonely and worried as he is hits so hard. "I wil try to make amends for making you means to an end." Damn.
After hearing both versions I can understand why the changes to certain lyrics to fit more with Stolas's character progression up to this point. After all this fan song was produced 2 years ago and lines up more with the Stolas right after Ozzie's. So they had to change some lines to match Stolas' growth since then.

I love how the flower changed when Stolas realized *he* might be the problem. I don't recognise the second flower, but the first is the narcissus, which (as the name suggests) represents narcissism as shown in the myth of Narcissus and Echo in which Narcissus is a self-loving jerk and loves nothing more than his own beauty. He then turns into said flower hence where it received its name according to the myth. So it makes perfect sense for Stolas to hold a narcissus while wondering why Blitzo is being so cold, but hold a different flower once he considers the feelings of someone other than himself i.e. Blitzo and Octavia. Truly beautiful song, I love how not just the music but also the visuals are playing a part in the presentation as a whole.

Well things are a bit more complicated, Narcissus was cursed (beacause he rejected even the beauty goddess) to fall i love and to being unable to being loved back, and he fell in love with himself, he drown in an attempt to kiss his reflection. Narcissus are flowers with a sad meaning, it means need, and uncorresponded love.

I absolutely adore that this beautiful heartfelt song is now cannon in HelluvaBoss. I always felt that it perfectly conveyed Stola's feelings about Blitz and it's wonderful to see that Vizziepop also agreed!
you can now imagine Stolas actually singing this right after Blitzo leaves following the incident at Ozzie's. He was finally made aware of how the two of them never took the time to know each other and were not on the same page of what relationship they had. Stolas' feelings have become a genuine love but his way of showing his affections was misguided and disrespectful. Now he doesn't know how to make things right.

I refused to not notice this small detail so I am going to put my thoughts into a comment.
The flowers that Stolas summons are quite interesting choices. So I went to search up flower meanings to try and refresh my memory on it, and this is what I've found:
The yellow daffodil in the beginning symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings, something that Stolas most likely wants with Blitzo; a new beginning, a fresh start away from the previous life he had despite the fact he can't really escape it. When the flowers change, I wanna say it's a pale red variant of a carnation. Pale red carnations specifically symbolize admiration and "my heart aches for you", which Stolas no doubt feels for Blitzo, longing and aching to be with him in a proper and loving relationship.
I just absolutely adore and appreciate that small detail.

Man, this is beautiful. In a way, Stolas and Blitz are very much alike. They are both broken-hearted individuals who crave love and affection but have issues keeping them from achieving such goals in a true fashion-Blitz's fear of and inability to understand true intimacy, Stolas's social restraints as a member of demon royalty. Yet, they both have so much potential to become genuinely beautiful people capable of so much love. In some ways, they have already realized a little of that potential, in the form of their relationships with Luna and Octavia-a bit troubled but still genuine and loving.
Holy crap, this was closer to canon that I could have ever imagined. The artist is a genius!

this is a very difficult situation, since their relationship was built on a transaction: we bang once a month so i can keep using this book. The struggling thing is when Stolas starts to catch feelings, of course Blitz isn't going to feel the same automatically because he only see this as a transactional thing, and him having the issues he has with past relationships just adds to that!
I feel the emotion in this song when Stolas says, "its not enough to get through the walls you've conjured up to live" I really hope Blitz doesn't go back to how he was before and he starts to become more open with his feelings for stolas and just in general. Paranoid, u did an amazing job, really!

This is beautiful. You nailed Stolas's voice both in voice acting and singing. Granted, it's not exactly the same as Bryce's but your take on Stolas's voice is still very much in-character. This entire song is beautiful. You can feel Stolas struggling to figure out why Blitzo is being so distant towards him. Then the subtle shift in volume and tone when he realizes that HE'S the reason why. That shuddery little intake of breath before the final chorus... Great bit of voice acting. Loved this song. Beautiful! I love the idea of exploring Stolas trying to break out of the transactional nature of his relationship with Blitzy.
After hearing both versions I can understand why the changes to certain lyrics to fit more with Stolas's character progression up to this point.
After all this fan song was produced 2 years ago and lines up more with the Stolas right after Ozzie's. So they had to change some lines to match Stolas' growth since then.
But the voice in this version is more like stolas then the other one

I love how the flower changed when Stolas realized *he* might be the problem. I don't recognise the second flower, but the first is the narcissus, which (as the name suggests) represents narcissism as shown in the myth of Narcissus and Echo in which Narcissus is a self-loving jerk and loves nothing more than his own beauty. He then turns into said flower hence where it received its name according to the myth.
So it makes perfect sense for Stolas to hold a narcissus while wondering why Blitzo is being so cold, but hold a different flower once he considers the feelings of someone other than himself i.e. Blitzo and Octavia.
Truly beautiful song, I love how not just the music but also the visuals are playing a part in the presentation as a whole.

Well things are a bit more complicated, Narcissus was cursed (beacause he rejected even the beauty goddess) to fall i love and to being unable to being loved back, and he fell in love with himself, he drown in an attempt to kiss his reflection.

I just finished episode seven and this fits SO WELL as a post credits scene, I LOVE IIT
you can now imagine Stolas actually singing this right after Blitzo leaves following the incident at Ozzie's. He was finally made aware of how the two of them never took the time to know each other and were not on the same page of what relationship they had. Stolas' feelings have become a genuine love but his way of showing his affections was misguided and disrespectful. Now he doesn't know how to make things right.

With the new episode and song, I feel like this would be such a good pretense to the canon. This is him recognizing his emotions and hurting, and wanting Blitzø to care about him too. But the new song is the rage and betrayal of feeling like Blitz never cared :( pain

The second i thought "aw it's a carnation!" but wondered why he looked so upset at it until i realized it's a f*ckin STRIPED carnation. Striped carnation symoblizes refusal. OUCHIE! 😭
