  • Love them or hate them, HOA's are common in Florida neighborhoods. State leaders say 45% of Florida homes are part of an HOA. But there's changes ahead for the homeowner's association in the state. Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed multiple laws surrounding the organizations and what they can and can't do.

HOA's can be like the police on power trips

I'm happy to hear they're having changes in the law but there's a lot more that needs to be changed to avoid HOA's from having so much power in their hands

My experience with the HOA and the mandatory $350.00 mailbox....that could only be installed by them.

  • @mia1shooter

You absolutely don't need a hoa to have a clean community...that's a myth

  • @christophermillett2273

I'll never understand why people are willing to pay to be told what to do.

  • @Darci3333

Hate HOAs will never buy where they have one....period.

    Karens are punching air RN.

I understand some fines…..but too many HOAs can take possession of someone else’s property and evict owners….and that should never be allowed. I hope that has been changed in the law as well.

We need many more laws to regulate HOAs. Small people abuse their power.

  • @laserbeamdaddy

I would never purchase a property with HOA. I cut cut mown grass. I don't need some idiots telling me how to upkeep or what I can do on my own property that I spent the years o blood and tears working for.

HOA is a remnant of the by-gone “gentleman’s agreement” era.Major changes should be enacted. All rules and regulations have to be voted with a 50% majority and officers should have term limits.

  • @jerrebrasfield4231

Having state laws specifically for hoa makes sense, should be many more restricting what these management companies can and cant do

  • @user-ck6ly5ib9g

They need to take their power away completely

  • @berto4028

I lost my home in 2018 because of HOA I lost my job was about to lose my car and I got evicted because I paid my yearly HOA fee too late spent 2 years living from family to family because of this.

The neighborhood where all the Karen's live

  • @xhcmx808

“Less restrictive” is subject to interpretation

  • @JoeStill-un9gp

Quit buying these houses in these bullshit neighborhoods, they will quit building them. Buy a piece of land and have a house built

  • @patriciagurwitz509

Yes HOAs are often a headache. Many board members have figured out how to skim money for their personal gain. $$$ Unfortunately, many people can only afford condo living and those maintenance fees are part of the package. 😢😢😢

I understand HOA & why they do this!!! What I do not understand is how are they accountable for their actions??? For instance, they got 1million dollars in fees & penalties. What do they fix? How do they spend this money? This is kind of weird. They collect, "extort," & leave the owners w/ nothing after the hurricanes. At least, this is the case in many counties in Florida. HOA = ACTS W/O ACCOUNTABILITY!!!

When I had one, we had to have the door painted specific colors, a brass kickplate on the door, sheer curtains at all windows, and we had to get permission of anything outside. And that was an easy one. I have friends that had people go around and check for brown spots in the lawn and take pictures over the back fence for a host of possible infractions.
