Yup, I did! I switched boards! I filmed the explanation several times with the board i put through the planer, but every time I looked over the video i shot---it was hard to see how warped that old board was( the one with the blue stripes) on screen. In video, it was hard to appreciate how much the sled supported the board. I don't know why but that happens sometimes when filming projects. Stuff in real life doesn't look good or translate well to video. I finally gave up and used another board that was lighter in color, badly warped, and could easily be seen "stabilized" on the sled. That board, however, is rare hackberry that I milled out of a tree....and its also has a book match brother. Those two boards are going to be used later this year when they finish drying. I wasn't ready to cut into them yet. I was not willing to sacrifice that beautiful board for the sake of the video. I hope that answers your question. thank you for watching. Cheers!
Jackson Smith it wasn’t click bait at all. Even if he didn’t give an explanation which he did by the way it still wasn’t click bait. The video was to demonstrate the jig and he did that. Switching boards made no difference at all. Don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions mate. It’s all good. Cheers mate and happy trails
+jcvord I hear ya! So glad you found it helpful, JC! Thank you so much for your feedback and for reaching out! Hope it helps you in your work! Thanks for watching, man. Cheers!
That is majorly impressive, Rod!!! Mind blown!!! I know you said you got the idea from the magazine but the magazine didn't build it, YOU did!! Awesome craftsmanship brother, my neck is gonna get sore looking up to you.
"That is majorly impressive, Rod!!! Mind blown!!! I know you said you got the idea from the magazine but the magazine didn't build it, YOU did!! Awesome craftsmanship brother, my neck is gonna get sore looking up to you." you kidding! im the one that looks up to you! you got that mechanical/engineering way of looking at the craft, brother. you have no idea how much i envy that. thanks for taking the time to watch and enjoy the video, brother!
I love your attitude! The way you intro'd into the video by saying you can't get out of the shop really shows your love for woodwork. You really distinguish yourself from other accounts, keep on keeping on!
This thing is crazy. Really awesome. The other day I tried figuring out some mechanism that what do just the work your model does. I wasn't able to figure it out. This is so clever! Awesome...
I bought a whole bunch of wood magazines from a retired woodworker. It’s probably around 200-300 magazines and I happen to find that issue in there. Thank you for showing where you got the plans.
Just last week I was wondering what to do with a piece of curly maple I've had for a long time that has warped. And since the DeWalt planer has become my favorite tool, I am so making it one of these!! Thanks for passing this great idea along for the good of wood!
I bought a planer today. You're making me feel better about my cherry rhombuses that I just made. I'll be making a sled and using a deck of playing cards this time. I'm hoping to make something nice like what you have in the future. Thanks for sharing!
+Vocho's Granja HahahAhaha! Sorry I helped increased your appetite for a planer. If you got one, though,.... you would love it! Thanks for watching, Vocho!
After seeing this I going to have to make one of these too...so much better than using wedges. I have to say Rod, your videos are so enjoyable even the ones where you don't speak, however, the ones you do talk in are the best, You are so humble, genuine and seem like a awesome person.
one of the best ideas I've seen in a long time.Everyone has a 12" plus planer but few have a 12" jointer. Thank you so much, Trigger, i thought so too when i first laid eyes on it thru ShopNotes. It definitely helps us guys who don't have much space or income for a massive jointer. I hope this helps you in your shop too. Thanks for watching and reaching out, brother. would love to hear from you again. And can i just say.......That one hell of name, Trigger Finger, just awesome!
I have the shop notes and plans in my library and will be part of my shop organization once I get to that point. Your video is exceptionally well done and to be commended
"This is so bad ass! I totally need to make this! Looking forward to the build video!" Hey David! thanks for checking out the project, its gonna end up turning into a major time saver for me. Glad you liked it! Working on it as we speak!
Great video! Another idea would be to create a sandbox big enough for your board. Sand or even dirt would totally support the board without any adjustment needed
DUDE! Where were you about two months ago when I was struggling with 8 quarter birch boards that were a nightmare to get flat. I eventually gave up and just got them close then straightened them with glue and clamp pressure. This is awesome! Especially because I have the exact same planer. Sometimes good news just doesn't travel fast enough. What really cool is you only need to flatten one side, then you can use the planer as you normally would. Thanks for sharing!
+David Massey So sorry about that David, news of your plight did reach my ears down here in south Texas. I tried to send you word by carrier pigeon to no avail, I used a hawk too but no luck with that either. This video was my third attempt to reach you. 😉👊🏼
LOL!! I think the local bald eagle that hangs in the back yard here in Washington, got your messenger birds. I appreciate your effort though. If you want to see what I've been up to, do a TH-cam search for the "Wood Knot Carpenter". Check out episode number 14 and 15. You can see some of the huge, distorted boards I had to deal with. Again, thanks for sharing that information. I will definitely make one of those ASAP.
+David Massey That bald eagle explains a lot! I just used the sled last night for the third time. I flattened 27 inch long by 12 inch wide board! Worked like a dream! Will check out your stuff! Thanks!
Very nice video. I just purchased a planer and it looks like this will be the first thing I build for it. I appreciate your attention to detail and that you took the time to give us "screen shots" which will be valuable. I subscribed and look forward to more from you.
Even if you have a jointer, this would be a great solution for boards wider than your jointer will accommodate. I'm looking forward to the build video. Thanks!
"Even if you have a jointer, this would be a great solution for boards wider than your jointer will accommodate. I'm looking forward to the build video. Thanks!" Thats excellent thinking, KSFWG! You are absolutely right about that, hadn't thought of it. Awesome, glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
+Louis Eubank So very cool, Louis! Glad I could help! Best of luck on the build, brother. Drop me a line if you have any questions. Thanks for watching, my man!
"That was great, looking forward to the build and I see one in my future. Thanks for sharing Rod. Take care." Sure thing Marc! i am glad this video could possibly help you in your shop...that what i wanted. Awesome!
Very great idea, I really like it! with the sled height I will have about 2 to 3" left for my wood pieces to plane which is enough for most of wood pieces that are gonna be used for tables, shelves, chairs, trays... Etc! Again, great video, thank you for sharing!
Thanks Abel! i figured its a pretty cool addition to the shop if i don't have a jointer at the moment and i wanna save time flattening boards for big projects!
Awesome! I recently retired and I am working on setting up a woodshop in my basement. No planer yet, I'm just researching ideas and shop layouts. You did a great job with this. I'm off to the build video now.
+Jon Stewart If I don't impress Jon Stewart, then it's not a good video! Lol! So glad you liked it, thanks for watching, Jon. Now I got all this pressure on me!
My hat's off to you! The production of your videos, is simply my favorite! Clear, detailed, but in a way that clarifies and identifies potential roadblocks! One of the very few channels that incorporates music properly! That's hard!(rare) I dislike using my jointer. Finicky, to adjust and maintain. This sled just jumped to the top of my projects list!
Sweet job, well explained! Never seen that jig before, just one with wedges which looks painful to use, this looks easy. Looking forward to the build video.
+Stuff I Made Thanks, yeah I think I know which one you are talking about....I think it worked with these little triangles and a bungie cord. I almost built that one years ago but it looked like a hassle to work.
You are a GOLDEN GOD of woodworking dude! I know the planer sled wasn't your idea, but still, it was an awesome demonstration. I'll hopefully be buying my first planer in the next few months. However I have to first build my wood shop. That means using cost effective rough cut lumber from a mill. You know what that means...issues. This sled build you shared with us should take care of most of the warped boards. I might have to build extra stands and a planer sled that can handle 16 ft boards. Thanks again!
I am not a carpenter but I like watching your videos very much I like how you explain how to do things. I was a fitter welder (retired boilermaker) and I am interested in that belt sander it would make a very interesting project but for metal.I think a horizontal has its benefits. I really think that table that can move is a bonus.
"Wow, that's awesome! A thickness planer is on my list but a jointer is waaaay to expensive. This solves that problem" Ah, man, Robin, good to hear that you're getting a planer. Once i had a planer and some handplanes....it totally changed my woodworking. it opened up so many opportunities in my craft. just watch...as soon as you get one your head is gonna be swimming with a whole bunch of new ideas! thanks for taking the time to watch and enjoy the project, Robin.
"Found your channel by searching for planer sled. I love this project! One of the best planer sleds on YT" Awesome Vin! i hope this helps you... please let me know if you end up building it. thanks again for watching and commenting, man!
Rod your video quality is amazing, your builds are amazing, you are amazing. I have a jointer but it's not a 13 inch jointer so I think this might be in my future.
"Rod your video quality is amazing, your builds are amazing, you are amazing. I have a jointer but it's not a 13 inch jointer so I think this might be in my future." hahahahahaha. Your comment made my wife laugh! Thank you Matt, i just love you, brother. thanks for always watching and commenting and enjoying my projects along with me. i really appreciate your support. it makes me glad that i made something that might help you in your shop in the future.
Spot on. I do the same thing in a more rudimentary fashion, using shims and a dot of hot melt glue. It makes a better job than any jointer. Only limited by width of thicknesser
Really well organized and informative. I just bought 9’ long maple live edge planks that need serious planer attention. Thanks for your video. Looking forward to seeing more.
Great video, Rod! I saw this video about 2 years ago and built one just as you explained. Amazing! I built mine for 8 ft boards. I had a pile of Hickory that were twisted that I put on the sled. I was amazed how it flatted them out. There is a little bit of a learning curve but once when you know how to use, its very easy! I think its a great jig to have for any woodworker. Really well shot and explained. I Subscribed ! thanks for posting!
@@MyGarageWoodshop It is very Heavy. But it is Worth it. The boards were twisted one way on one side and the other at the end of the board. To try to do this on a jointer would be really hard. I basically would have to cut in half to try to salvage the boards. With your instructions I am left with a pile of 8 foot flat useable lumber. thanks again!
@@MyGarageWoodshop When you set the board on the top to adjust the levelers the board must be completely supported and flat along the length. I do have a 24 inch planer with support in the front and the rear. So it is supported the whole time.
Very good video, excellent explanation. Use of this sled really opens up opportunities to make use of badly warped pieces in a small shop. I've got a 6" jointer and would LIKE a 12" jointer, but size and cost keep that from happening. This gives everybody with a 12 or 13" jointer the ability make perfect flat pieces. And quickly too! Love it!
The wellspring of TH-cam bubbled up your excellent video today. Might even buy the plans, although it looks simple enough. Your production and editing got you a new subscriber. Outstanding.
Great job, Rod. May be just what I need right now since I sold my old jointer and haven't bought the new one yet! Thanks, man & keep 'em coming. BTW, totally love FakingIt!
"Great job, Rod. May be just what I need right now since I sold my old jointer and haven't bought the new one yet! Thanks, man & keep 'em coming. BTW, totally love Faking It" Drew! thanks you for commenting, watching, and enjoying the video. You have no idea how glad it makes me to think that one of my videos could possibly help you in your work and your shop, Pure awesomeness for me! That was the whole point to the video. Currently, working hard to get this next video out to ya! And thanks for listening to our shenanigans on Faking It, too! we just started up again. i think you will like our next show. We are going to be interviewing a TH-cam content creator and asking her a bunch of oddball questions! Thanks again, Drew!
BTW, you guys have the audio dialed lately on the podcast. I chatted a while back w/ Andy about Dave's audio being abrasive. All good & perfect now!!! Keep it all coming & thank you ALL!
MGW, dude, I don't think you set up your board wrong. When you start cutting into almost any board, but ESPECIALLY a warped, or rough cut board, stresses in the wood are gradually released, and the board will move. Thank you for the video. This is awesome. Paul
I just found this channel yesterday. Rod, you're doing a great job and your videos are brilliant! Thank you! so many great ideas and such good instructions! Keep it up!
Thank you so much, Allen, for that wonderful feedback. so glad you found your way to the channel. Welcome aboard! There's beer in the fridge! thanks so much for taking the time to watch the content, brother, really means a lot! cheers!
Congratulations, video very well explained and realized, I hope all the videos you do do not forget to say in the final part "Hasta luego" I am pleased to hear it
"Great project and very well presented. Looks like the build is a but time consuming but for sure the end results seem to justify it." Thank you, Neil! To tell the truth, this project can be constructed in one weekend. It only took me three cuz of all the filming i did on it. i still love handplaning every surface i work on but Its nice having a dependable jig for flattening super wonky boards that would kick my butt if I tackled it by hand. Thanks for the feedback, its great, thank you so much, Neil! Have a good day bro!
I have seen a helptool in a video from John Heisz, where he uses some spacers under the board. BUT THIS one is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this. Regards from Germany.
"Now I want to make one. Even though I have a jointer, it could be useful for wider stock. I'm liking your image overlays too!" Right on! in my mind eye i see you doing some chainsaw milling of a log then after your slabs are dry- i see you throwing a slab onto a planner sled to flatten it! all the while you are wearing that trapper hat with the ear flaps and a big gold chain with a " W " on it, and driving that golf cart that for some reason has hydraulics on it, slow motion shots, mean mofu mug close-ups...... wow. i really went there for a good second. sorry. im back. i guess you can tell how much i like your videos now. lol. thanks, man!
man dude that’s awesome! i’ve been professionally doing terrible things to perfectly good wood for 30+ years. you just taught an old dog a new trick. great job on the sled and the video. you’re a natural at this. gonna have to check out more of your stuff. ¡muchísimas gracias y bueno trabajo hermano!
Great video Rod, I have a Jet JJP12 jointer so its no use to me, but wanted to comment about the fact that the sled is one super cool little tool for guys who dont have one.
"Great video, Rod! Really well shot and explained. Looks like that sled would come in real handy too. Can't wait to see how you built it!" Hey thanks Braxton, so awesome for you to say! i love this jig, its gonna be a staple in the shop! Build video out soon....thanks for watching!
+Michael Lawing You're getting a planer?!?! Dude, so cool! Being able to dimension your boards changes how and what you make. After you get it your head starts swimming with a ton of new ideas! Thanks Michael for watching!
My Garage Woodshop not at all man! You have a really easy effective manner, I hope you are doing well on here....but you should teach, your skills and ability should be shared! Remember - EDIP - Expaination, Demonstration, Immitation and Practice! Well done, keep it up, I will keep watching!
"nice sled rod. that's a great tip seems like you put a lot of effort into it thanks for sharing." Glad you liked it , Opa! And Yes, i did. i thought this jig could be really helpful to a lot of folks in the community. thanks for watching!
I have a small shop, and have a large combo Jointer / Thicknesser machine. It takes up loads of room. Have been toying with the idea of just using a table saw jig/sled for the glue/edge jointing, but was constantly wondering what i'd do about flattening/face jointing boards. I think I'm ready to sell that big machine now, and just use my table saw + a DW735 with helical head to do the flattening/thicknessing! Great Vid. Best design i've seen. Much better than random wedges and hot glue.
Wow! You have a jointer combo machine?!?! Nice! Congratulations, sorry that it’s eating up for shop space though. Honestly, Sebastian, this jig is for the “every-man” woodworker who cant get his or her hands on a dedicated machine. It’s never meant to replace a jointer. It’s just something to help folks get by if you don’t own one. I made this project thinking it would help a lot of people, and would also help me get by until I buy myself a jointing machine. But if you’re dead set on increasing the floor space in your shop by getting rid of that jointer- I would suggest that you make the most informed decision as possible by building the jig first, get past the learning curve of using it correctly (yes, it does have a learning curve). Then Afterwards decide if it’s the right move for you. I would hate for you to regret the decision. Best of luck, my man!
you're buying a planer?! Dudness...you are gonna love it! Being able to dimension boards easily changes your craft and opens up more possibilities on what you can make. Just watch, as soon as you buy it your mind is gonna start swimming with loads of new projects to take on. Thanks for watching Bigscreen!....... cool name!
My Garage Woodshop yes I will hopefully get one in the next coming months. The one I will be getting will be the ridgid 13". It's not my absolute first choice, but for where I live it's the one that I have access to without paying exorbitant shipping charges.(I'm in the Caribbean.) I've read lots of good reviews and some bad, but I will give it a shot. I am soon to start doing some woodworking videos just trying to find the time is kinda hard right now.
Im right there with you Kevin! Its the lucky and fortunate man who can fit and afford a Full size jointer and planer in their garage. That's why this sled appealed to me. I usually doubt the effectiveness of complicated jigs i see in magazines, cause i am pessimistic at heart, but i thought i would take a chance with this one. So far, it has worked wonderfully with the two boards i have sent through it. i had wanted to send more boards through it for the sake of the video, a couple different types of warped boards, but its hard to sacrifice boards im not gonna use (im also cheap at heart). LOL thanks so much for watching and commenting, Kevin.
The ShopNotes website as a dead link for the plans. Are you planning on having plans with your construction video , and if so, are you concerned about copyright infringement?
+Kevin Bostrom I may be a little naive about this but I am not concerned about infringement. I love ShopNotes and will certainly shut the video down should they contact me. I have drawn up plans that I will post on my Facebook page should anyone care to see them. All in all, it's my heart's desire to help my maker community and also, as a byproduct, shed a little light on the magazine. Honestly, these plans are available to anyone who browse the magazines at the checkout lane. Oh well....let's see what happens. Did you say that you tried to find the plans online and were not able to?
+John Stett Thank You, John! I'm so glad this project helped you. Shoot me another message when you've built and used it, I would love to know how you got on with it. Also, if you're cool with it, I would love some cell phone video or pictures to possibly use in another video for this series. Thanks again, man, for taking the time to watch the video and leave your feedback! Cheers and best of luck!
Wow that’s pretty elaborate board! I use a 3/4” birch plywood with a 1/2” stop. Put the board that needs flattening and where the wobble is, I place shims and hot melt glue them in place to stabilize the board and run it through taking off just a little at each pass say about 1/32” or so until one side is flat and then I run the board through flat side down to flatten the other side. Works perfect!
+Wood By Wright Thanks so much, James, for watching! I really appreciate it especially because I know this isn't your cup of tea. I actually love hand planning but when I built the drawers for the cabinet, 6 total. It was something like 42 pieces to flatten by hand and I had so little time too. I was wishing for a jointer then but this will do.
Why was the "demonstration" board not the one you planed? Would've showed it worked better if you hadn't changed boards after setting up. imo
My Garage Woodshop, Roger that thank you for the explanation.
Yes i want to see the demostration board get pass throught the planer...
Eres el chingon camara felicidades
in a word... bad-ass. Fairly simple and elegant solution for those of us limited by space or budget constraints for a jointer. Thanks for sharing.

I just stumbled upon this video... Great job, Rod! We really enjoy seeing people build the projects we've designed. Great video production too!
+Woodsmith Awesomeness! Love your magazine. I have built tons of your jigs! Thanks for watching! Happy woodworking!
I love your attitude! The way you intro'd into the video by saying you can't get out of the shop really shows your love for woodwork. You really distinguish yourself from other accounts, keep on keeping on!
I just bought my first planer (DW 735x) and have fallen in love with it! Your videos will deepen that love and increase my skills! Thanks!
Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thanks for sharing this great idea.
+Kevin Waycaster Thank you so much for watching and reaching out, Kevin! I hope it helps you in your work! Cheers!
An amazing simple and ingenious idea.
How nice to see smart people in action !!
Really well-edited and put together video Rod. Keep up the good work and don't give up!
This thing is crazy. Really awesome. The other day I tried figuring out some mechanism that what do just the work your model does.
I wasn't able to figure it out. This is so clever! Awesome...
fantastic video and you didn't waste our time like so many do, chatting and squandering valuable work time. Thanks so much

I bought that issue of the magazine specifically for the planer sled plan. I haven't made it yet but now it's jumping to the top of my list.
At first I wondered why you would want to build such a seemingly complicated fixture. But now I get it. I think it's an outstanding idea.
I've been fooling around cabinet shops for over 25 years.... this is an awesome tip! Thank you Rod.
I don't know how you don't have more subscribers. The channel is amazing.
Is so cool. Not that I have a planner but now it makes me want to have one. Thanks for sharing.
+Vocho's Granja HahahAhaha! Sorry I helped increased your appetite for a planer. If you got one, though,.... you would love it! Thanks for watching, Vocho!
This likely the most useful woodworking video I have ever watched. Thanks for sharing Rod.

Really Amazing. Looks like a real Jewel. Great video and thanks for sharing.
Dayum Rod.....great build & xideo/instructional. One if the best on this I think. Loved it.
Thank you Rag, high praise, coming from you! glad you enjoyed it!
We miss you man! Hope you’re well and that we get to see some videos from your shop soon.
Awesome! I recently retired and I am working on setting up a woodshop in my basement. No planer yet, I'm just researching ideas and shop layouts. You did a great job with this. I'm off to the build video now.
You’re a smart guy. Cool to see this in action. Cheers
Great job Rod!! That's Awesome!!!!!
Thank You Josh! thanks for taking the time to watch and enjoy the project!
What an amazing idea. Definitly I'll do it for my planner 👌🏼
Very nice project!
+John van Gurp Thank you so much, John!
Excellent video. Really good additional graphics.
Making! I can’t wait to build one for myself!!
Great video Rod. Went all out with the animations too. Slick.
That's hard!(rare)
I dislike using my jointer.
Hi Rod! I just got to say, this is genius! Thanks so much for sharing!
+grobkuschelig You betcha, man! Hope it helps! Thank for watching!
I am not a carpenter but I like watching your videos very much I like how you explain how to do things. I was a fitter welder (retired boilermaker) and I am interested in that belt sander it would make a very interesting project but for metal.I think a horizontal has its benefits. I really think that table that can move is a bonus.
Great video Rod, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed the video Kirk, thank you for watching!
Wow, that's awesome! A thickness planer is on my list but a jointer is waaaay to expensive. This solves that problem
"Wow, that's awesome! A thickness planer is on my list but a jointer is waaaay to expensive. This solves that problem"
Ah, man, Robin, good to hear that you're getting a planer. Once i had a planer and some handplanes....it totally changed my woodworking. it opened up so many opportunities in my craft. just watch...as soon as you get one your head is gonna be swimming with a whole bunch of new ideas! thanks for taking the time to watch and enjoy the project, Robin.
Found your channel by searching for planer sled. I love this project! One of the best planer sleds on YT
"Found your channel by searching for planer sled. I love this project! One of the best planer sleds on YT"
Awesome Vin! i hope this helps you... please let me know if you end up building it. thanks again for watching and commenting, man!
This is a "must have" for anyone with a planer! Nicely presented video!
+woodstoney thanks you wood, so glad you liked it. I hope it helps you in the shop. Cheers!
Rod your video quality is amazing, your builds are amazing, you are amazing. I have a jointer but it's not a 13 inch jointer so I think this might be in my future.
"Rod your video quality is amazing, your builds are amazing, you are amazing. I have a jointer but it's not a 13 inch jointer so I think this might be in my future."
hahahahahaha. Your comment made my wife laugh! Thank you Matt, i just love you, brother. thanks for always watching and commenting and enjoying my projects along with me. i really appreciate your support. it makes me glad that i made something that might help you in your shop in the future.
Nice job, love your enthusiasm
Yea your smile says it all. Amazing project and great idea.
+Ellinon Enosis Thank you!
Spot on. I do the same thing in a more rudimentary fashion, using shims and a dot of hot melt glue. It makes a better job than any jointer. Only limited by width of thicknesser
It's briliant jig! Thanks Rod!
You ar very welcome! Andthank you, Stavros, for watching!
Really well organized and informative. I just bought 9’ long maple live edge planks that need serious planer attention. Thanks for your video. Looking forward to seeing more.
Awesome, Rod! I need to build one of these for flattening boards that I have too wide for my 6" jointer. Nice video!
8 FEET!!!! Holy smokes!!! How do you deal with the weight of the sled with a board on top? Is it an issue?
@@MyGarageWoodshop It is very Heavy.
But it is Worth it. The boards were twisted one way on one side and the other at the end of the board. To try to do this on a jointer would be really hard. I basically would have to cut in half to try to salvage the boards. With your instructions I am left with a pile of 8 foot flat useable lumber. thanks again!
Tell me Jim, is there an flexing of the sled along the length? If there is, is it an issue?
Really great planner sled ! Amazing!
BTW, totally love Faking It"
Drew! thanks you for commenting, watching, and enjoying the video.
There's beer in the fridge! thanks so much for taking the time to watch the content, brother, really means a lot! cheers!
Congratulations, video very well explained and realized, I hope all the videos you do do not forget to say in the final part "Hasta luego" I am pleased to hear it
+Carlos Rogel Hi Carlos! Thank you! Not sure if I do, but I think I say it in all them. Glad you liked it, my man! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
nicely explained, no wasted time in the sequence.
Great build and idea. Surprised there aren't more out there
I think that is just a brilliant build, good job!
Great project and very well presented. Looks like the build is a but time consuming but for sure the end results seem to justify it.
"Great project and very well presented. Looks like the build is a but time consuming but for sure the end results seem to justify it."
Thank you, Neil!
Awesome Video... I'm going to have to try this once I get a planner👍
Now I want to make one. Even though I have a jointer, it could be useful for wider stock. I'm liking your image overlays too!
"Now I want to make one. Even though I have a jointer, it could be useful for wider stock. I'm liking your image overlays too!"
Right on! in my mind eye i see you doing some chainsaw milling of a log then after your slabs are dry- i see you throwing a slab onto a planner sled to flatten it! all the while you are wearing that trapper hat with the ear flaps and a big gold chain with a " W " on it, and driving that golf cart that for some reason has hydraulics on it, slow motion shots, mean mofu mug close-ups......
wow. i really went there for a good second. sorry. im back. i guess you can tell how much i like your videos now. lol. thanks, man!
Thanks George. Great video and your really uplifting. I actually felt better after watching it.
man dude that’s awesome! i’ve been professionally doing terrible things to perfectly good wood for 30+ years. you just taught an old dog a new trick. great job on the sled and the video. you’re a natural at this. gonna have to check out more of your stuff. ¡muchísimas gracias y bueno trabajo hermano!
Thanks brother! That’s wonderful feedback, man, thank you! And thanks for watching.
Great video Rod, I have a Jet JJP12 jointer so its no use to me, but wanted to comment about the fact that the sled is one super cool little tool for guys who dont have one.
Awesome video, great info and production.
Well I dont have a planer yet but, when I do get one that sled is project #1
Time to check out more of your vids
Great video, Rod! Really well shot and explained. Looks like that sled would come in real handy too. Can't wait to see how you built it!
"Great video, Rod! Really well shot and explained. Looks like that sled would come in real handy too. Can't wait to see how you built it!"
Hey thanks Braxton, so awesome for you to say! i love this jig, its gonna be a staple in the shop! Build video out soon....thanks for watching!
I had to subscribe to your channel, I love your enthusiasm and your skills!
Soooooo cool! Now I know what I need to make when I get my planer up and running!
+Michael Lawing You're getting a planer?!?! Dude, so cool! Being able to dimension your boards changes how and what you make. After you get it your head starts swimming with a ton of new ideas! Thanks Michael for watching!
Great little jig, that will save a lot of $$$ and shop floor space.
really nice, well presented enjoyable video...very talented chap! thanks, a great teacher!
+Matthew Dobbs Holy Smokes, Matthew! That's wonderful feedback, brother, thank you! And thank you so much for watching!
My Garage Woodshop not at all man! You have a really easy effective manner, I hope you are doing well on here....but you should teach, your skills and ability should be shared! Remember - EDIP - Expaination, Demonstration, Immitation and Practice! Well done, keep it up, I will keep watching!
Looks really useful. Thanks for the great video
Well done! Great video, I'll be making one soon!
nice sled rod. that's a great tip seems like you put a lot of effort into it thanks for sharing.
"nice sled rod. that's a great tip seems like you put a lot of effort into it thanks for sharing."
Glad you liked it , Opa!
Sweet jig! Next big purchase I make is a planer so this will be perfect!
you're buying a planer?!
Well done video, Rod!
This is just what I need! No room in my shop/garage for a descent size jointer. Looking forward to the construction video. Thanks Rod.
Hi Rod. I found this link for the purchase of the planner sled plans. The link leads to a dead end.
www.shopnotes.com/issues/137/sources/planer-sled/
+Kevin Bostrom You think I should throw in the description? What do you think?
What a great concept 👍
Very Impressive Build Rod. That's all kinds of Awesome..... Shared....
Terry, my friend, thank you for all the uplifting support and for always enjoying my projects along with me!
Your Very Welcome Rod. Keep being Inspiring ....
Awesome video!! I am for sure gonna build this sled!! Keep up the good work!!
My Garage Woodshop I'll be sure to do it brother!
Cool build man! love it!
