  • In this video, I'm sharing the first run in 10 years of my nephews Traxxas Revo 3.3 RC Nitro Monster Truck! I can't believe it's been that long, it feels like just yesterday he was driving around with this thing! I will also be running my new Revo 3.3 for the first time too.

    The high reving sound on the red one, is most likely the slipper clutch on the spur gear needs to be tighten a little. And as someone else wrote her, the one way bearing needs to be cleaned from old gummed up oil from fuel. Do that, and add some fresh oil on it, and i think your good to go. Sometimes these nitro engines leak from the front bearings on the engine, and that can be the source of the oil spill you mentioned, or from one of the fuel needles. This can make the tuning much difficult, and leaning out the motor to much. Nice video, and great trucks. 👍

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes it was the slipper being loose and now shifts into 2nd with ease after adjusting. I'm going to service that bearing before I send it back to my cousin. Thank you.

    the revo 3.3 was my FIRST rc ever! I still got it to this day but its all in parts now lol Great video man, i came across it cause im thinking of getting back into rcs and searched revo 3.3. I havent done anything with them in a long time. Great video, i always had a makeshift battery bank to plug the igniter into because that little battery dies fast.

    Red Truck, check the friction pegs on the slipper. If they are good, give it a bit more tension on the slipper. Also, clean the one way bearing on the electric start. If that doesn't work, replace the one way bearing.
    I personally can't stand the electric start on these, and replaced mine with a traditional glow starter, and pull start.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I just cleaned the one way bearing the other day and it starts right up now. I also sprayed wd40 contact cleaner into the brushed motor and applied bearing oil on the tips of the shaft ends. I also found out the slipper was loose.. I tighten it up and backed it out about 1/4 and now shifting like a king.
      I'm heading down south tomorrow to return this beast to my cousin so he can enjoy it after all these years of it sitting.

    The starter isn't working because the one way bearing is either dirty or dry. Clean it with brake or carb cleaner and reassemble with motor oil. Mine functions perfectly after doing the same.

    The very first things to be be done on these is, replace the bearings and carburetor. I use the fast eddy bearings, they work great. OS 11k carburetor. Break in 6 heat cycles before putting it on the ground. Thats about it. I have six of these because I like the platform. Nothing in any of mine is traxxas at all anymore. Servos, radio, engine all changed out. Rpm swing arms, the whole nine. Now they are worth a shit. That gear is a easy fix on the ten year old. Slight adjustment clockwise in the transmission. But it sounds more like the slipper.

    • @nwirc
      @nwirc  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah also, you might wanna replace the engines back plate and starter shaft with the new one way bearing. Due to the fact that it to gets worn out. After the engines heat cycles and nitro fuel run time. It will engage and contact with the one way bearing replacement like it's new again.

    To answer your question about the starter issue, the wand is where your issue is. If you take the wand apart you will most likely notice a lot of cold solder joints, for some reason 9 out of every 10 of these wands seem to have the cold somder joint issue and will most of the time just cause the glow plug section of the wand not ro work but in sone cases it does have issues like you mentioned. If you decide you want to fix this issue all you have to do is take te wand apart and redo all the solder joints. Good luck

    There should be a hole on top of the transmision. Just move the Revo forward until you see the hex pin to make it shift sooner or later. One time I turned it too much and it stopped shifting into second gear. Had to turn it back the other way again.

      To the comment on the con rod. I also ran low on fuel while running full throttle, and went lean, and the con rod broke at the piston. And slit in half. And put a hole in the piston, I had a back up motor. So rebuilt it. Just run the car on the rich side. And don't let it run out of fuel. Been running great since then.
