Rihanna hands down has a better control with her different ranges with her voice. I love both girls though and their music but let's be really theirs a reason rihanna stuck around longer in the entertainment industry and is now one of the richest.
Rihanna has naturally very light, girlish voice, a soubrette, who often chose to sing in contralto/low mezzo tesitura. Today she is more of a Dugazon IMO, her voice changed a lot. Alicia has always been a lower-set lyric mezzo with much darker and rich tone but forced to sing herself in almost soprano ranges. Totally opposite choice which they should have done. Overall Rihanna is much more interesting, more expressive tone and performing artist, more diverse music, however Alicia is the better musician of course.

I researched the videos based on the songs and notes and tried to diversify it so it didn't sound repetitive. Alicia has several bad and cracky moments, and some of the cracky I liked it and put it in the video, the same thing with Rihanna's.
