It's not that it's no longer must see TV, it's that TV itself is no longer must see for many people.

I’m with Rob if the Olympics were only basketball and soccer like he mentioned. To me what’s great about the Olympics, is it’s not the big celebrities. It’s not people getting paid $250 million. It’s real people with larger than life dreams who have one shot to claim glory. While it doesn’t mean much to people like Rob, it means the entire world for those javelin throwers, triathletes, 5k runners, etc. Olympics is our chance to break away from the mainstream sports and celebrate athletes from all walks of life.

Yes, I beat 90 percent of the people on this comment page can't tell you what person is considered best miler in the world today , but to those guys who run the mile or 1600 meters it's a big deal to them , to be the best at anything in World is a big accomplishment .

@@dangreene3895 um track and field isn’t as popular in comparison to the rest of the world. If it wasn’t you wouldn’t have the diamond league or MJs upcoming league. Rob is speaking about another sport he doesn’t know anything about. He needs to stick to baseball since he fails to do his homework. If you look at the American sneaker companies running shoes still are the main sellers and those people watch the 10000, 5000, marathon

Not twenty years ago. 40. Embarassing. And the first time Gamble was asked he brought up a sports bet he had on Snoop Dogg. His MAIN reason for watching was because he had a prop bet on a NON-participating athlete.

Parker is onto something. The Olympics don't nearly have the same importance as it did 40 years ago. For one thing, there's so much more options for people to choose from. Secondly, the amateurism, that made the Olympics the event that it was, is long gone. The athletes are all pros now. Finally, the Cold War helped to make the Olympics a practice in nationalism. It hasn't been the same since the Soviet Union broke up

  • @coopericus

Rob, you'll likely never see this, but on the off-chance you glance this, you're right. Politics has entered into the equation, in my own opinion. There's so much bad going on in this world, cops killing people in their own homes when the person they kill CALLED THEM FOR HELP; homelessness in a land full of billionaires buying everything up, including Washington politicians who vote to send our money overseas to foreign nations to wage war and kill innocents while the vast majority of us struggle mightily with high inflation that's made even the barest of necessities almost unaffordable.
And in the midst of all this evil and more, I'm supposed to care about a privileged few individuals doing things most any of us can do, winning medals that I can't eat? No USA gold medal is going to feed my family or pay my bills. That's the state of affairs for many if not most people right now. For those who can afford to indulge themselvrs and kill time by watching the Olympics, congratulations. For the rest of us, it just doesn't matter much anymore. People can disagree with me, and that's fine, but that's the way I see it.

Olympics became a circus, many people are not aware it already started. Why are the Americans performing yhere instead of the French people? The rating is too low because of their woke agenda, that's how unpopular it is now. They made it to be politicians, activists, woke platform. It put off people to watch, the athletes became just a display, a backround. Also million of fans around the world will not watch because of their snub of Clark.
