Quick tip: For subtasks, you can also simply add the subtasks as regular reminder items, then drag and drop them onto the main task. This is faster than going into the details.

Reminders will always be useless to me until it steals one major feature from Google. Google reminders adds the reminder to the top of the calendar day and keeps them there each day until you complete them. So smart, in my opinion. I use the calendar too much to switch to reminders and won't use both for redundant tasks. The reason I want this is because Siri works much better with reminders for some reason. It's much easier to add a reminder with Siri than to add a calendar event. Hopefully they add this or I've missed it and someone knows how to do it. Peace!

But there is indeed a better alternative that feels like a paperback agenda and synchronizes with Agenda: Weekagenda.
Everything you store will be reminded at the moment you want it. That's logical too.

I use reminders for everything but when I add many reminders in a short period of time, my Mac and iPhone stop syncing. I added assignments earlier this week and they haven’t shown up on my Mac, where I actually do my assignments. I talked to apple about this a year ago, and they said it would be fixed by the end of the year and the support person said they were aware of the issue. However, it’s now a year later and I still have to go slow with reminders and have to wait for reminders to sync, or I turn off iCloud temporarily and have to redo all the reminders I made.

      Hi.
Yes, it's perfect that I can put my own lists in the smart list, but I can't make this smart list (I have all the reminders tagged with Tags) as the default in the iOS 16 (iPhone 12Pro Max) Reminders settings, so the Reminders Widget on the lock screen doesn't see it .
I got around this by creating a custom (regular, not smart) list where I put all the reminders, tagged them all and I can set this list as the default list via Settings - Reminders and this is for the Lock Screen Reminder Widget visible and will display it on the lock screen.
Thanks for the video, it's perfect, it helped me a lot. 👍👍👍

    I’ve tried these:
    - Remind me to call David on my work list Friday at 9 AM
    - On Friday at 9 AM remind me to call David on my work list
    - remind me to call David hashtag work on Friday at 9 AM
None of these worked properly. I’m digging the smart lists, but I use Siri a lot 😞

I'm on iOS 16 but in my Reminders I don't have some options like you do. For example Save as Template. Also, not sure how you changed the icon for the Groceries list but I can't do that. Weird.

I use this app for a large chunk of my life, and it really sucks how lagging it has been forever!!! Wished Apple invested more time & money into this app. Unfortunately, because I already started with this app, I can’t start over with a new reminder app since there are TOO MANY I’ve already set up, though I want to! Plus it doesn’t sync in real time with my Apple Watch, or EVER!!! I’m so frustrated 😭 hopefully iOS-16 fixes the REMINDERS app specifically!

I started using Reminders because I saw that you can have a widget for it on he home screen and I think it's really handy. I used to use Sorted but it was kinda time consuming trying to add lists there everyday. I like apple's reminders now.

Siri will only itemize a list of food if it recognizes the items as edible. If it doesn’t recognize the items as edible, such as kefir, or aloe Vera juice, or pepto bismol, or immodium (all things that I might pickup at the grocery store) then it will just include them as string of words in one bullet point

This was too much information, too fast for my age 65+ brain to absorb. Why would I need to “pin” a reminder? Please explain. I do use reminders but mostly just put them in my calendar. I wonder why the calendar and reminders aren’t integrated. Maybe there are tutorial TH-cam videos geared to seniors. Or, maybe you should consider making them.😊

Is this on iOS 16.0 or on a different iOS 16 version? Im on iOS 16.0 and I don't have many of these features. For example I can't pin tasks I've created, it doesn't give that option when long pressing
