My dad on the other hand, is considered working class, despite earning £50,000 per annum. Social class is more about perception here, than actual wages. Someone working class who becomes incredibly wealthy would be looked down on for example, and considered part of the nouveau riche, rather than upper or middle class. Also, just look at Great Gatsby, good example of middle class people not having much, working class person becoming nouveau riche, but neither being able to escape how they're already perceived despite new economic status.
