    Please read the description I put under the videos for a better explanation of what I do and how I pick some of my tools. of course I'm going to spend more money and go name brand on most of my daily use tools. But there is no sense spending hundreds of dollars on a tool that you're only going to use a couple of times a year if you can get something like this that reliably does the job for far less money.

    Hell, it’s all made in China nowadays. I found a compact swager from Iwiss that had more heads than the Hilmor, and it was $100 less, and they’re both made in China. I think the only difference is marketing and maybe customer support. Heard you on HVAC Shoptalk talking about this,and I missed this on my feed, went back and found it. Nice video. If it works, you can’t make fun of it.

    Just picked this up. For less than $20, it's great peace of mind. Just had gas pack put in and we have lots of old fittings. Keep smelling gas but can't figure out where. After contractor keeps telling us it's all in our heads, anxious to confirm one way or another.

    • @sknight0391
      @sknight0391  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's a great little detector and I'm sure it will find your leak. The first place to look is on the " Union" where the gas pipe joins together. It's a threaded coupling that looks like something you could put two wrenches on to take it apart. It could also be coming from around your gas meter and then it would be the gas company's responsibility to make those repairs. Good luck and thanks for watching my video 😎👍

      @@sknight0391 Can i check, if i set the sensitivity level say to 2, if there is leak, it should go beyond level 2? but if it doesn't does that mean there is no leak? i m quite confuse with the high pitch sound if i raise it higher and the dot dot sound if i only set it at level 1.

    • @sknight0391
      @sknight0391  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CheeKengChua that's just indicating that the concentration of gas is getting higher. Thus meaning a larger leak. The more noise it makes and the higher the lights go, the more gas is present. You set the detector in "fresh air" so it's not making any of those noises. That way, when it goes off you know you have a leak.

    hello, i just get mine, but operation instruction and do not correspond. in detail intruction guide is like these: 1.- Turn the unit off and the sensitivity knob fully counter clockwise. (i doit that in exterior free gas area). 2.- turning ON, the power indicator will de lit.(that is OK, but the alarm is sounding up strong, because the sensitivity knob was set fully counter clockwise ) 3.- after turn on, the unit will auto warm-up within 20sec, a ticking sound will be heard. (Up to 1 minute of hearing the noice from the alarm, even so no ticking sound, so i skip to instruction 4) 4.- adjust the sensitivity control until the first leak indicator ligth up, the ticking speed up. (thans seems to work, but how to ensure te calibration was correct?) 5.- approach the sensor to a known leak source, (i used a gas lighter), the leak size indicate lights will increase with the rapid ticking. (that works, but then i figured the leak size lights increase eaven pointin the sensor to my bare cleand hands, that does not happen with other gasleak detector i used). how works your as8800?

    • @sknight0391
      @sknight0391  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leave the sensitivity knob turned all the way off in the clockwise direction. Turn the unit on and let it go through its warm up. Then barely turn the sensitivity knobup until the tick rate gets slightly faster and then turn it back down a little bit. That is where you will be using the instrument most of the time. The knob is turned up very little. You have yours turned up way too high and it's giving you false readings. The tick rate during operation should be fairly slow.
