Kumquat Recipes

  • Kumquats have been one of my favorite fruits since I was a child and I was introduced to them by my mother who grew up in Japan. 
    These little powerhouse fruits are native of south east Asia and in mild climates here in the United States you can grow them outside or in a sunny window if you have a good Southern exposure.
    The unique thing about Kumquats is you eat them with the skin and the skin is the sweet part and the flesh is tart. 
    I’m going to take you through a couple of recipes for you dry them and also create a kumquat preserve in honey so that you can use them in several dishes.
    I’ll also show you how I make my kumquat Camillia & mint tea which is one of my favorite refreshing afternoon drinks!

    can you use the meyer lemons or other fruit you recommend to make the honey ?

      Hi!! I have used Meyer lemons to do this and it turns out wonderful! I have not however used any other fruit to do this as I believe that the acidity of kumquats lemons or even oranges aor grapefruit would be the best to keep it preserved the longest without going bad.Thank you for watching and commenting!
