  • Make Kumquat Marmalade, water bath can it and why not grow a Kumquat tree in a large pot, your garden or orchard?
Kumquats / Cumquats are a small, delicious, sweet citrus fruit. The Kumquat tree is small and can grow well in a pot and still produce plenty of fruit, so it is a great addition to a small homesteading garden.
Kumquat Marmalade Recipe Ingredients (I made a double batch)
    9 Cups sliced Kumquats
    2/3 cup Lemon Juice
    2/3 cup Orange Juice
    1 Quart Water
    Sugar
Water bath canning Jam or Marmalade
    1/4 inch head space
Cover jars with water by at least 1 inch
Bring to boil and process for 10 minutes
Turn off heat, remove canner lid, let cool for 5 Minutes
Remove jars from canner and let sit for 12 hours
    Remove rings, wash and label.

    Welcome to Moat Cottage Homesteading,
I'm Elissa and here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit.
We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage.
We preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations.
We don't like plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances and are trying to live an older style life balanced with this modern world lifestyle.
Good health and natural living has always been a high priority for our family and despite this two family members are living with auto immune diseases, myself included.
We focus on what we can do, when we can do it, stay positive and so I make these videos for you on my best days.
    Much Love

I really like that you leave the information in writing , my brain works that way . also , while I'm at it , I really like the way you set up your channel . breaking it down into interests , makes it easier to locate information that I might be looking for . and , not lastly but just another thing , your jars and containers as neat as a platoon of Marines in formation at attention . the total simplicity of the shelving and containers by size and content , seems to be an adaptable system for every location . in my mind that wall is the other side of your kitchen , but it could be a huge pantry . either way , I like it

I love how calm you are, love kumquats but have you ever mixed with other fruit, like grapes, persimmons, berries?

I have a loquat tree and can't wait for them to ripen. How many seeds does your kumquats have? Loquats have 1-4 big seeds.

Boiling your jars means that wiping all the threads with a tea towel is a superfluous step ..just let the bath clean all that and sterilise it.
