THE PARIS 2024 CANDIDATURE AT THE SUMMIT OF MONT-BLANC
At the initiative of the Municipality of Saint-Gervais, Antoine Dénériaz, Gold medalist at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games, raised the colors of Paris' candidacy for the organization of the 2024 Olympic Games, with guides from the Compagnie des Guides de Saint-Gervais - Les Contamines.
This operation was organized in collaboration with the Paris 2024 Bid Committee, which took the opportunity to display its flag on the roof of Europe before the final hearing which will take place at the IOC in Lausanne on 11 and 12 next July.
This event symbolizes the Paris 2024 commitment to Climate, promoting the ambition of being the 1st Games aligned with the Paris Agreement.
Mr. Jean-Marc Peillex, Mayor of Saint-Gervais, wanted to express the municipality's support for Paris's candidacy to organize the Olympic Games, whose ambition to be exemplary in terms of sustainable development is at the heart of heart of the application file.
The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, welcomed to Jean-Marc Peillex “this very great initiative, which will help demonstrate to the whole world that the French passionately want these Games”.
The IOC will unveil the host city for the 2024 Olympic Games on September 13 in Lima. If Paris is chosen, Saint-Gervais will have contributed to the success of its candidacy by carrying its colors to the highest level in Europe.
