For the "Offline" value, you might consider looking at the Std Dev value over the Average. Average just sums everything up, so a 20 offline right and 20 left will essentially cancel each other out and it will say your "offline" is 0. Std Dev cares about the actual distance offline, so in my example of 20 offline right and left, the Std Dev will be 20 (since you're 20 away from the target in both cases, even though one was to the right and one was to the left).
agreed. std dev ftw. id go w ventus black. also, he saod he normally plays it ĺofted down a touch; thatll bleed spin off and might leave the lower spin setup knuckling
We actually looked at this after we stopped filming. While the Venus Blue had the lowest “average” he missed left and right. That’s why he’s kept the TPT bc it was the lowest and also kept the “miss” to one side so it’s easier to play for “the miss”.
got to be carefull with avg offline. because i can hit one 40 yards left and one 40 yards right and itll say avg 0.0 . but i didnt hit one good shot with it
The metric that is getting you in the biggest trouble, is your club path. You are averaging about +5.0 in to out path. That is why the big hooks, and pushes right. If you don't close the face enough you push it straight right, and if you close it a little too much, you are hooking the crap out of it. Get your path closer to 0.0 and you will find more fairways.
No high level golfers are playing with a zero path. It makes it so hard to know if you will miss left or right. Mass majority play one shape 95% of the time
I'm playing the Ventus TR Black w/Velocore 6X with the QI10 LS 10.5. This combination is the most stable and consistant club I've ever hit. I'm 53 with a 4 handicap and feel like this club will give me the ability to get back down to a 2 or maybe a 1 because I not only hit it farther, but the misses don't seem like misses. I can toe it out to 290-300 to the right side of the fairway. Get fitted!!!
I still play original Non Velocore Ventus Blue 6x with TSR3 driver. I am hitting 79% fairways because of that shaft. Carry is 295 avg and I am 54 y/o. Tour AD or Venus blue were best for you. Find the fairway. Great video.
I play the tour AD DI (orange) and choke up an inch and I love it at that length. I find that on the course, I don’t miss the distance, but the consistency is so much better. Totally worth it for me.
Did a shaft fitting and I walked out with a Tour AD DI-7 because I could feel the head, control it better than the rest, and had the best launch angle and spin rate for me.
The TPT and Ventus black were the only two shafts that gave you the ability to eliminate half the golf course (left side for those). The ones where you’re looking at average offline, you’ve got big misses to both sides which is a problem when you’re just trying to find the fairway. Play the ones the give you a chance to eliminate one side of the course and then neutral out your path closer to 0.
Ive just gone from an Evenflow Riptide small batch 50g stiff to a Hzrdus black 70g x-flex and I’ve seen my spin drop by nearly 1000 and dispersion improve massively, I don’t fear the face staying open due to the softness of the shaft at my swing speed.
For you Micah I would be looking at the face to path number and find a shaft that you get consistent numbers there. I thought the black was fairly consistent and the main reason for the offline number was due to club path, I think most of the black would have landed quite close together. Im playing the Oban Devotion 75 x really great shaft if you haven’t had the chance give that one a go.
The Ventus Blue TR was within the margin of error of the rest of them in terms of distance. I play the TR Blue 6X as my gamer at regular length and I love it. It really just wants to hit a push draw and it's extremely good at consistently producing that shot. It's very forgiving as well. If I were you, I'd just play that at standard length.
TPT def fits you the best, i would recommend testing it 1 or 2 settings upright to counter the straight block and right bias. Tbh the Ventus Red TR would be in the running if it was the TX version and not Stiff.
I switch back and forth between Ventus Red TR 5s 23:03 and Ventus Blue TR 6x in Rorys specs. The red is longer but the blue is way more stable and I can swing hard and it's always in play. Can't score when you're in the woods.
Ventus TR Black 6x! Love the feel and stability. Club head speed for me is right with you in about 124-128 avg. the 6x feels way more smooth comparing it to any other shaft even the TR Black 7x. Give the TR black another try in 6x
I have the tr blue 6x .75 shorter. 45” with Qi10 core model as well. Awesome combo. With your length you don’t need the extra 8 yards. Take the fairways all day!
Hi Micah, Great vid, (great series actually). Going on the mathematical averages is probably not the best way to look at this. Beforehand i say i couldnt seeall the shots you played cos only the top 6 were shown on the screen. Like people before said standard deviation is very important but you could also lookat it this way. If you look at Ventus blue 5 shots were within 25 yards left or right so most likelyin the fairway or rough. Only 1 was out 29,3 to the left. That was the only shot that could put you in trouble. The Ventus Black had 3 shots, of 6 visible, out 31,5, 40,7 and 43,3 yards of th middle. That would be 3 holes with trouble and shots lost for sure. Your TPT had 2 of 6 visible out 43,1 and 38,4yards. So 2 holes of big trouble. So it looks like the Ventus blue is the better choice. The 8 yard difference on your insane carry distances is very negligable :) . Good luck on all!!
Been a graphite design guy for years DI, IZ, VR, HD but recently started messing around with ACCRA and Vanquish. Your most consistent numbers came from the ventus blue, TPT and Black must be a lot more tip stiff as the face closer at impact was much less as compared to the other shafts. It would be interesting to see the UB in an LS head??
Loving this latest style of content from you Micah!!…it’s the best thing yet. Ignore the haters, this will acquire the followers you’re trying to reach.
Try the ventus black an inch shorter. You mentioned that you like the stability of the black and offline was perfect with the blue. I think it would be a winner!
Love the video Micah! I’d just check on how you are getting your averages on the center line. Looks like you are averaging right and left together. You might want to separate the right and left misses to see how far you miss the centerline on pushes or pulls. Thanks!
I play the Fujikura Ventus 7 TX (same shaft as Scottie Scheffler) and the consistency of it is nice. It doesn’t launch super high which I like because where I live it’s really windy so being able to keep the ball down is a huge advantage.
A 1 inch shorter shaft definitely helps me with my driver and 3 wood. I’m much more consistent with it. Never hit them on a sim to compare all the numbers, but the only one I was worried about was hitting them straighter and going -1 accomplished that for me
I’ve played Speeders since initial release. (30+ years?) I play 757 Evo 4 presently 3/4” short. You: Play the Fuji Blue 6X 1” short. Hard to control iron spin from the rough. Less stress on course knowing you can stripe fairways
Have to say this Tic: with your speed +5 path is not ideal for conistency. Just put the ball 1 inch closer to your left foot. It should help immediately your path and launch. Great videos you are putting there! Keep up the good work 💪
My theory on driver spin is that keeping it super low means the hooks stay in play because they just drop out of the air and the good shots go extremely far. Higher spin and a hook means that might fly OB. From my bad shots I’d rather a 250 shot in bounds than a 300 out.
I have 3x 120g total weight shafts. They vary +- 4swing weights. Seems you need to pick a shaft you like every day, then do some head weight and loft fittings on the final show
I’m no club fitter, but I’d actually put Micah in a 11.5 mini driver with a Ventus TR Blue 7X tipped an inch. Heavy weight in the back and 1 click towards upright.
Hope ya see this. But I would honestly get the tpt cut a half inch shorter and try that. I took a half inch off my ventus blue tr and it's been amazing. I think a full inch is too much, try putting the tpt and ventus blue head to head at the same length. Like I said personally I think 1 inch is too much. But whatever works for you my guy! I would love to see ya try 1/2 inch short on both and go head to head!
I play the Graphite Design AD UB 6X in my driver - Ventus Blue (2024) 7X in my 3 wood - Graphite Design AD IZ 8X in my Callaway Apex UW - Dynamic gold s300. I was fit earlier in the year February
micah I really think if you got your club path more neutral your driver will become way more consistent. that two way miss is deadly when playing and judging by your club face angle your really good at squaring the face.
Been gaming a shorter driver shaft for last few years & haven't looked back. Sweet spot was for 44.75" for me. Gained accuracy without losing distance.
As a ventus tr black user, i gotta say, the stabilty for a consistent flight is un-matched. Like u said, theres not much thats gunna happen to the club face through the swing. I have never hit such a consistent baby cut in my 5 yrs of golf. Anywhere between 5-15 yds of cut everytime bo matter how i hit it. Granted, i use a ping g430 LST. But i went from 4500-6000 rpm of spin to 2200-2600 with the shaft. I know you didnt want it to win, and u hit the shorter one incredibly, im just saying, for me, the ventus blacks consistency has been an insane game changer. Went from mid to high 70’s golfer to around even par to mid 70’s with the new confidence off the tee. Just good for thought. And ps, ignore the haters in the comments. Jealousy has plenty shapes, sizes, and colors. Ur a hell of a golfer bro.
NO MICAH!!! Don’t look at average offline, use standard deviation! Also, it’s great you’ve improved your path down to +5 (you used to live in the +7,+8,+9 range), but you’re going to continue to fight big blocks and big hooks until you get it down to
Dude you are looking at it wrong, the black shaft looked the most consistent and better flight. A 2way miss cancels itself out, look at your landing circle for each.
Your gamer driver was consistent, you kept hitting to the same spot on the right. If you move the ball further forward in your stance, that could straighten it out (it gives the clubhead that little bit of extra time to come around the corner and be square). Maybe try 10 swings like that ?
The offline yardage metric is way off because you're missing both ways on some shafts and it's cancelling out the ones that go 30 yards right with the ones that go 30 yards left That's why the yellow coloured one/the shaft Rory uses showed up as 0.3 yards off line on average and you were missing it waaay more than the purple one that was 20 yards right on average Kind of important to know when picking a shaft
Problem is that after a fitting where the Calaway ai smoke max was determined to be best for me the shaft recommended added $250 to the club to bring the total cost to over $800.00
I had a shaft break on a driver right at the hosel so I chopped it off and glued it back together and now the driver is like 1.5 inches shorter but I really like it lol
Ive hit them all - TPT technology is unparalleled. Ive picked up nearly 15 yards with it and hit more straight drives in 2 months than in the last 10 years.
I've played an inch shorter for a few years. Not quite as long as you, but 285 carry and finding fairways is all that matters when you're trying to score. So much easier to square up. I'd say game that blue for a month and see if it pays off.
Standard deviation for TPT was lower….like 4-5yds so that would be better even though your average off the centerline was smaller on the Blue. Stick with TPT or switch - maybe mentally the Blue will help you hit more fairways.
Std deviation and avg distance offline both aren't the numbers you need. Your total dispersion pattern is what to look at. If you have a driver where your standard deviation is 15 yds but you have a two way miss and half are going 15 yds right and the other half are going left that's not great. Then you have another driver where you have a 20 yard standard deviation but all the misses are to the same side, you have a way tighter dispersion, plus you've eliminated one side of the course and know what to expect from your missed shots which is a huge advantage.
Dude, Micah. If you don’t play the blue. You crazy. What statistic you’re missing is the fact that 319 yards is 30-40 yards further than 90% of your competitors. Your scramble game is good. But your scoring shots from the fairways are money. Go with the shorter shaft and tear up these haterssssss
Even though the Ventus Blue had an offline average of -0.3, there were misses of -29 left and + 24 right. Wouldn’t it be better to use the TPT considering that it removed the left miss? Every drive was consistently on the right side of center.
I say game the blue, you need fairways. Or it might be really interesting if you took and inch off of the TPT and see if you gain more consistency. A lot of pros play 1/2" to 1" shorter shafts for that reason.
Any good fitter would probably look at this and say clearly the stiffer the better. And would just take the tpt and the ventus black and tip them a half inch to bring them a bit shorter and make them even more stable and lower spin.
Whatever gets you in the fairway more consistently is the winner. Like you said, what gives if it's 8 yards shorter. You're already hitting it above 315 on average.
Exactly, he's looking at it all wrong. the black shaft looked most consistent
Was going to explain the same we dont care about average deviation. Only Stdt deviation is the number you must look at. Thanks for the sharing Micah
agreed. std dev ftw. id go w ventus black. also, he saod he normally plays it ĺofted down a touch; thatll bleed spin off and might leave the lower spin setup knuckling

Mind blowing that he uses this simulator everyday and is too dumb to realize this lol
The number to focus on for offline is standard deviation, if 5 shots went 30 yards left and 5 went 30 yards right average would be 0
My wife says size doesn’t matter.
This is the correct response
She lied cause she loves you
Hey! Is your wife single?

Yep, she lies .Im guessing she goes out with “the girls” a lot ! 🤣🤣

Yes I was thinking the same thing. Can only use Averages if you are missing the ball on the same side of the line
Your gamer driver was consistent, you kept hitting to the same spot on the right. If you move the ball further forward in your stance, that could straighten it out (it gives the clubhead that little bit of extra time to come around the corner and be square). Maybe try 10 swings like that ?
The offline yardage metric is way off because you're missing both ways on some shafts and it's cancelling out the ones that go 30 yards right with the ones that go 30 yards left
That's why the yellow coloured one/the shaft Rory uses showed up as 0.3 yards off line on average and you were missing it waaay more than the purple one that was 20 yards right on average

that intro instrumental sounded just like you can have the crown
Std deviation and avg distance offline both aren't the numbers you need. Your total dispersion pattern is what to look at. If you have a driver where your standard deviation is 15 yds but you have a two way miss and half are going 15 yds right and the other half are going left that's not great. Then you have another driver where you have a 20 yard standard deviation but all the misses are to the same side, you have a way tighter dispersion, plus you've eliminated one side of the course and know what to expect from your missed shots which is a huge advantage.
You need to bring the M2 with the 3 wood shaft back out and hit it and compare it to your current model.
@trottie what do we think about this. I honestly like the tr blue shortie.
Try the blue in standard length. I am playing a fujikura motore x f1
Did you swing weight the ventus blue it was a 1inch shorter? Thanks
You need to try the graphite design tour ad vf.
I say game the blue, you need fairways. Or it might be really interesting if you took and inch off of the TPT and see if you gain more consistency. A lot of pros play 1/2" to 1" shorter shafts for that reason.
if you’re hitting it 320 use the shorter shaft cuz it don’t matter .. keep it in the short grass
What a swing!!!! Unreal
Can you do grips? Bryson Dechambeau and Tony finau both use jumbo max grips and Bryson claims it helps you hit it straighter.
Hey Micah, you should give away that Venus Red, it would just so happen to be perfect for a Stealth2 that I might just have 👀😁
Fairways and Greens...
your best hits was when you was under 5+ path. If i was hitting it 25+ right, think i would definitely start it more left
I play the Ventus red TR 6S. Probably my favorite shaft of all time. There must be something wrong with it though because I only carry around 280. LOL
Have you thought about giving the brnr mini driver a try?
I think he used it in last video on the course
@@jhaap3448 that’s right.. dude I literally just watched that video last night. Already forgot 🤦🏼♂️
