    nice tutorial. Just finished mine T34 kind of following it with what I have. Got to a result I am very satisfied with. I mainly do warhammer stuff and it is superinteresting to see this hobby from completely different side. You use different paints and tools and techniques than I am used to seeing. Very nice.

    OMG I wish I had watched this video before starting my tank projects! My tanks look OK but they look too clean and new! I was not confident enough to do the weathering effects but after watching this it doesn't seem too difficult!

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really isn't that hard, though like anything the more practice you have the better you'll be able to do.
      If you're not feeling super confident about it I'd suggest getting a cheap kit from airfix or the like, painting it up and trying weathering on that before you do it to models you care about. That way you can strip it back and not worry about ruining your nice, newly painted tank.

    Well, after buying the Rubicon T-34/85 after seeing your review on the kit... I now need the AK interactive weathering stuff. Damnit.

    I'm just learning the weathering myself and got my first airbrush iv got my t34 in primer just now just to try the air brush out I'm ok with it maybe helped being a body repair specialist when younger aswell lol I'm way to put the PE on the t34 I got and the bed spring ammo scratch built from mesh PE I'm away to put some buff on my Iray British Husky just now, I'm just trying to figure out the black and white under coat to get some highlights instead of going back over the edges I'll try both ways though and see the results

    I bought this kit today and it will probably arrive in 1 or 2 months. My first tank model kit! Are these colors indicated in the manual? Or they are just better for you, by experience?

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't remember if or which colours are shown in the instructions. I usually just choose something that I think will look good.

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is Blu-Tack, which also goes by poster putty in some parts of the world. You can get it in the super market or I guess anywhere that sells stationery supplies.

    What sort of Satin varnish did you use?

  • @johnchavez3753

    how do you to turn off the shine around the decals?

    • @CorpoPsycho
      @CorpoPsycho 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Applying a wash onto the decal completely dulls down the reflectiveness of the decal and locks it into the paintwork quite well

    Hi, very nice video and channel, I certainly subscribed. One question, how do you apply dry-brush with Vallejo Model Color? Do you use a special technique or retardant? Doesn't the paint dry fast?

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Often when I drybrush I just use the paint straight, or thinned down very slightly with either vallejo airbrush thinner or water... I usually do it pretty quick so I've never had any issues with paint drying out, though it does dry on the model quite fast, which is normal for acrylic anyway.

    Herbert I am trying to make the fury I said we should do a few weeks ago except I couldn't find and e8 from plastic soldier company so I am using a Sherman firefly anyways it looks nice keep on the good work!

    • @thatone5.338
      @thatone5.338 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only three things about it is the tank itself and I don't have any extra pouches and extra things to put on it and I don't have any paints.

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cameron wolfe PSC don't make an E8? I thought they did. Fireflies don't quite look the same, but they're still cool. If you're feeling crafty you could probably make some pouches and stowage from green stuff.

    • @thatone5.338
      @thatone5.338 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Herbert Erpaderp I'm not an a good modeller I don't know if psc makes one its just when I looked they didn't have any. Where can u get green stuff?

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cameron wolfe Nah, I quickly looked at their site. Doesn't seem they do. That seems odd. Maybe one day they'll make one.
      I think the main visual difference between regular shermans and the E8 would be the road wheels.
      I usually get green stuff on ebay, seems cheapest there. It is also known as kneadatite.

    • @thatone5.338
      @thatone5.338 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Herbert Erpaderp oh ok I'll look on eBay and all those things. Have a great day and keep up the good work.

      "undiluted soft tone"

    • @HerbertErpaderp

      Soft Tone is a type of wash made by the army painter. In this case I didn't thin it before using it.

    Ref Red stars & Russian tanks, very uncommon except for lend-lease vehicles. They made far too effective aiming points.

      +Herbert Erpaderp +KingDanNZ Let me give you a hand of help with this) "For Stalin" - "За Сталина" and "За Родину" - "For the Motherland" - Herbert was almost correct. Moreover - both phrases are parts of motto or tagline of '41-'45 Soviet Union Red Army - "За Родину! За Сталина!" - it has been used during attacks.
      Here is some war posters with this phrase:
