Haven't had enough of this run? Good, because there's also a video on its POSTGAME B) You can check it out right over here: th-cam.com/video/6_UZJBAotxQ/w-d-xo.html
Limiting the amount of pokemon you bring to boss fights is a really interesting rule. Cool run! I feel like you dont often get to see Electabuzz in Nuzlockes.
I had a similar idea, though a bit harder. I call it Gym Challenge. Like in this case, you can only use the amount of mons equal to gym leader and with level cap. However, once you enter the gym, you cannot exit until you beat the gym leader. That means you can't breeze through the gym trainers with all of your pokemon and come back prepared later - you have to do this with limited mons in one try, and not forget about level cap in the process. That makes Chuck's gym of all a great challenge, since his trainers have quite strong pokemon, most of which have decent coverage. And you have to beat them all with just two pokemon. I've also been thinking about item limitations in- and out- of battle, but I didn't come up with a decent formula yet.
@@zetafish7347 I haven't been entirely out of the loop, i do watch a considerable amount of Pokémon content, but actually playing the games I hadn't done past gen 3 at the time
Loved the video! Great narration and storytelling. You’ve made me cheer for your pokemon like I did on my very first pokemon game, Crystal, all those years ago. Can’t wait for the next!
some may have said this but for advice for the future, fire spin, wrap, whirlpool, and other attacks like that stop locking you in once the mon who used it has fainted or swapped out so switching was an option on Miltank. Also, could always make a part two going to Red. Still a great video though!
Indeed! I was taught that about Fire Spin a little bit after posting the video hahah, you live and you learn right? I'm very close to finishing the script of the postgame, I'm really excited for it and I'm really really happy you enjoyed this one :)
So, in the interest of protecting future Totodiles, TM28 Dig is in the park and will reset the demon cow's Rollout. Funnily enough, nuzlocks have taught me to respect Morty more. Last one I think it was Fearow, Drowzee, Raticate, and almost Quilava before that Gengar's bloodlust was settled.
Fun video! I loved the hat tower and the joke associated with it. I would have liked to see you try to tackle Kanto; for some reason all of the Gen 2 vids just end at Lance
Fire Spin and other trapping moves stop working after the Pokemon who used them (i.e. Clefairy) faint. So, your Croconaw was not trapped and you could have easily switched.
Wait you're telling me Irwin fell in vein? I don't think I can handle that information D: The more you know tho! I'm not a Pokémon Expert whatsoever so these fine details like that might get through me sometimes. Hope you still enjoyed tho!
thank you for your kind words, im glad you enjoyed it! for my Emerald run (and those after it) I added the dupes clause to the ruleset, so expect that when eventually that video comes out :D
Think crystal is my fav to do runs of. Added a rule of my own to my runs no tentacool or zubats unless theyre shiny since you're essentially guaranteed one otherwise and already knew their strats pretty well. Need to get back to my single dunsparce run at somepoint before I forget too much of what I was planning for what.
that is true! i just didn't include the dupes clause for this run tho and i didn't feel like changing it after having already started :) hope you still enjoyed that!
Thank you so much! I really appreciated. Tbf we did take on Red in this run! I had a quick summary of post-game in the script, it just got cut off because the video was getting big as it was. But I wouldn't mind developing it a little bit and release a shorter video on it if people are interested 👀
You are correct! I didnt know it at the time, but people have mentioned that in the comments. Hope it doesnt throw people off too much! But at the end of the day, i'll take this one as one more lesson learned 😄

wow, godbless and godspeed for you and anyone trying out more of well, any pokemon content in gen 2. I really like gen 2 but gosh right now it's a more popular generation to make fun of online than play.
Tbf, after replaying it i can kinda agree on some of the problems people usually raise, but it's still such a charming gen even with all its flaws, i will not take gen 2 slander! And thank you for the kind words, I appreciate them
Try Polished Crystal next. It's a rom hack that makes Crystal an actually great game to play. It's more fun, even though harder. It has Physical/Special split, abilities, nee moves and movesets, opponent's teams that are actually challenging, Gen 4 evolutions of gen 2 mons, and some amazing pokemon type changes/stats. For example, Sunflora became Grass/Fire, got +20 Defence and +45 Speed, making it a solid mon. Ariados became Bug/Dark and got +40 Speed. Cut became a 60-Power Steel move, and Strength - a fighting type move. And that's far from being everything. Like Charizard, Ampharos and even Yanmega gaining Dragon type. I'd like to see to try playing it, even as a normal playthrough.
P.S. Also trade evolutions are now achieved via Level Up, either with high enough Attack, Defence, Special Attack and Speed for Machoke, Golem, Alakazam and Gengar respectively; or by holding an evo item like Metal Coat for Scizor or Steelix.
Those sound like some really good improvements over the original! I haven't gotten myself into the realm of rom hacks but i'll for sure make my way there, thanks for the suggestion!
6:18 I actually don't think fire spin was active at this point and Croconaw was completely free to switch out. Croconaw's health is 46 when miltank comes out, 33 after the first rollout and before the second rollout with no fire spin damage in between. Fire spin also normally ends when you faint the pokemon using it. Frustrating thing to watch.
Yeah i've been made aware i had done goofed on that one! Admittedly im not the most knowledgeable person on Pokémon so this finer details might escape from time to time
Fire trap stops trapping as soon as clefairy faints. You can see crocnaws hp doesn't change from when he hits rage on Milbank. This dork could switch anytime.
