Talon, the past month I have been living in my 2023 Thor Sanctuary in Longmont CO and my Truma Combi heater has been working good but not as efficiently as your system. I was able to get through -15 with an inside temperature of 67 but ate up my LP gas and needed to fill my onboard tank after only 4 days with the temperature set at 50 during the day! I think this is the same system that your Satvan had. I will be insulating the van for future use and plan to travel to New Mexico in a couple weeks to visit the places you mentioned before. I was stationed at Holloman USAF Base in the early 80s and want to see the area again! Keep up the awesome job of sharing your knowledge and experiences. This old shop teacher is a big fan of your work!!!
Just got back from northwest New Mexico and my kimbo door stayed frozen on the inside. I’ve added carpet to the hardwood floors to add a little more insulation. My biggest issue is the temperature difference between the bed and the floor. I have a small electric heater I run down there when I have the generator running. Love your videos man. They get me pumped about traveling in my Kimbo year round.
Howdy from balmy Texas…we have been in the same front even down south. 11-12-14 degrees last three days. Have been thinking about propane last few days for backup. Have fireplaces for main areas but mechanical room and water tanks need heat and they are of the main living areas. Thanks and saddle up!
Did an overnighter here in Utah in my hammock two weekends ago. Coldest it got was 17°F having the underquilt a good bag and a handmade quilt from my mom I stayed comfy warm. I don’t think I could do any colder though.
Thanks to COVID I discovered your channel while working from home. Inspired me to create my own channel for family and fun videos. Keep the content coming Talon!
I have been watching your videos since I bought my first Trayvax Original wallet years ago and loved all the Sunday Gun Day videos and have loved the conversion to the overland content. I have been looking to get a truck to do some overlanding myself. Hope to see you on the trail someday. Keep the shiny side up and best of luck in all your future endeavors.
love the content! been watching for a couple years now and it just keeps getting better. Met you at the overland expo in flagstaff a couple years ago, although I don't expect you to remember. haha. Keep on filming your rad life man, I appreciate it!
Talon! It’s been awesome watching your progress and success for all these years. Wishing you more success in this coming year. Take care and I’ll see you in the next one.
Been a follower since the beginning! Your videos helped me out so much! I enjoy watching how far you’ve come from the beginning! Keep up the great work! You’re a big name in the industry!
lol yup, that's cold! I just finished my camper shell build (Just posted the video) and I have been eyeing up a Newport heater for my interior build. Thanks for the detailed look at it. 👍 UNREAL that you got over 2 weeks out of that bottle. Subscribed to follow along!
What’s up from north Idaho! Very much enjoy your videos, I live in a little home built truck camper. I’ve always wondered what the condensation inside a kimbo was like, best video on here about it!
Loves these videos. As a lover of Colorado who does not live there, keep giving us a piece of it in these videos. Keep it up man, by far some of the most entertaining videos on TH-cam 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Love the camping videos man! Winter time I want to camp but don’t have the cool stuff you have ha. So I guess I live through you ha. I can watch the videos on my couch from home where it’s warm.
Stay warm out there brother we've been getting slammed here in Wisconsin as well! Progress on the gfc style truck cap/rtt is underway and hopefully will be ready to camp in the next month or so! Cheers
Wish I had a propane heater like that in my house I am in Northern Alabama and it is cold here.. and the heat pump is only meant for mild winters.. keep up the amazing work.
Talon thank you again so much for all the amazing videos and content. I truly enjoy this channel and will continue to watch all the new while I continue to watch the old from before I discovered your channel.
That propane heater is starting to get my attention. I run the diesel heater in my sprinter currently but I’m not completely sold on it. Especially how loud it can get outside while it’s really cranking. Subscribed and liked!
This was definitely helpful, Talon. It's too bad Kimbo doesn't use thermal breaks between the outside and inside metal. Maybe they can beef up the insulation on that door on the inside? Thanks.
We've been going about a month or so thru this winter with the Kimbo tank heating and cooking with the propane.outside....we're using an induction hob indoors tho, helps with humidity..
Nice review of the Newport heater, wondering if it could be adopted for marine use… Ever think of adding some boat content? Keep ‘em coming and I’ll keep watching!
Great video! Lots of useful info for potential Kimbo owners. Eat those green beans, Son! Could have added them to your soup. Did your water tank ever thaw out? I don’t recall from past videos. What’s your bathroom situation in the Kimbo? Cassette toilet, bucket, trip outside? Also, did you use your Starlink or just rely on your cell phone? Keep with the great content!
With a tacome, the kimbo is dang enticing. Already run a small teardrop but these are so rad. I remember back when you went to the facility and got it. watching for years now. You might even remember years ago someone suggesting someone do a cartwheel during a live video.. that was me.. I believe you said the broken wrist is my fault. haha
Hey T... Love ya Vids Fella......justcwatched this one and you talked bout the Thermocouple issue - the other component you never mentioned is the temp of the propane bottle outside.....The propane isnt reaching its optmum usuable heat until the radiating warmth pre heats the propane. Hot water bottle placed against the propane bottle will bring this up to temp quicker = more efficient.Otherwise your wasting valuable calorific value from the gas. Love all ya vids Fella - from West Wales , UK.
Had to find out how to track this info back, started following April 19, 2017. Having now gone on a bunch of my own mini-ventures, can't think of all the tips you've given but the main impact has been the inspiration to just go out and do it. Saving/waiting for this new tacoma to come out so I can step my game up, much love Sei gang
Drove my Sprinter thru South Dakota 2 weeks ago, -26 temp with -53 windchill, do not recommend ever doing that! Smart of you being careful when it gets really cold.
My fiancé and I love all your videos, we watch them together when we can. Keep up the awesome work! PS when is Ash gunna get the 💍 😂 would love a video of that ❤
Yo - Talon. Ive just now discovered your channel. Im very interested in That Dickinson heater for my bus. This the best ive seen abt it. Thanks. (now subscribed)
With the cold, does your Tacoma have a plug in block heater? And would your battery packs have run it overnight? Not sure what the wattage draw is on a block heater.
Being from New England I feel your pain bro. Love the channel, long time subscriber. Love the video, and have learned alot from your content. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌
This style propane stove is much better than the wood version since you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to add more wood / pellets. Great video - thanks!
Hey talon, love watching your videos! Always have wished to have your lifestyle 😂 I’m from Michigan… were tired of this 7 day free trial of living in Alaska lol stay safe bro!
This heater is something I'm about to install in my own truck camper and it's super rad to get more insight on the performance of it from your videos! Couple of quick questions for you about the heater.. Are there any worries about leaving the heater on when the rig is unattended? I'll be using this thing for a lot of snowboarding trips and ideally it would be killer to leave the heater on while out on the hill or in the backcountry so that when I get back it's nice and warm in the rig. When you pack up and drive away do you just cut the heater off or do you turn the tank off as well? aaand, how dangerous is it to leave the heater on while driving? Like I'm sure you know, those water lines freeze up very quickly and nothing is worse than your system needing to thaw when you get to camp after making longer drives throughout the winter months. Appreciate the insight and keep up the rad videos my friend!
I'm hoping to get to the point where I can start overloading like that soon its grew on me more and more as I've gotten older I definitely like the concept of a kimbo so that's the route I am thinking I may go. Great video as always keep up the great work bro!
Love the videos Talon! You’re the one that got me and my wife back into camping!
Been watching for 6 or 7 years. First video I ever watched was the travax contour review Oct. 7, 2016. Time flies by!

great video, the propane heater seems like a game-changer for winter camping.

If I ever get a kimbo I'll have a microwave, somehow and somewhere. Because it heats up food extremely quickly without the stink.
Thanks to COVID I discovered your channel while working from home. Inspired me to create my own channel for family and fun videos. Keep the content coming Talon!
Really cool info on the heater for the kimbo. Always fun learning stuff about overlanding, the camper. Awesome content as always!

Been here since the early vlog days, was a shadow subscriber for awhile. Keep killing it Talon!

Interesting how far camping gear has come. Always cool seeing you trying out new and different gear. Love all the video
Excellent information on the Propane heater. Could have used something like this for the 10F days here in central Texas this week.
Been with ya since the Sunday gundays! Bought your trayvax keychains for my 4Runner and jeep! Keep the videos coming, joining your patreon next!
it's been a "blast"! LOL! an Arctic Blast! but i went to Utah to ski and it wasnt as cold last weekend! nicely to test the kimbo and heater!
Loves these videos. As a lover of Colorado who does not live there, keep giving us a piece of it in these videos. Keep it up man, by far some of the most entertaining videos on TH-cam 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Always love seeing your new additions to the Kimbo. Added the fan vent cover to mine after seeing yours and it's amazing.
Love the camping videos man! Winter time I want to camp but don’t have the cool stuff you have ha. So I guess I live through you ha. I can watch the videos on my couch from home where it’s warm.

Wish I had a propane heater like that in my house I am in Northern Alabama and it is cold here.. and the heat pump is only meant for mild winters.. keep up the amazing work.
I assume that you camp/travel in the Winter with some type of toilet. Where do you store a toilet in the Kimbo?
Talon thank you again so much for all the amazing videos and content. I truly enjoy this channel and will continue to watch all the new while I continue to watch the old from before I discovered your channel.
That propane heater is starting to get my attention. I run the diesel heater in my sprinter currently but I’m not completely sold on it. Especially how loud it can get outside while it’s really cranking. Subscribed and liked!
Thanks for the information and practical use of these units and rigs!
Great vid man! Careful hitting that ice-might dent that thing! You definitely braved some cold there my man.
Love the video Talon. Would love to see more winter camping vids
This was definitely helpful, Talon. It's too bad Kimbo doesn't use thermal breaks between the outside and inside metal. Maybe they can beef up the insulation on that door on the inside?
Thanks.
Another great video. I love the content you produce. Colorado sure looks cold right now
OK. The frozen soup is on another level. 😂

Recent subscriber, long time viewer. 👋👋
This video makes me wanna get out there and cold weather camp this weekend.
I’ve been looking at truck campers the last few weeks and the Kimbo is one at the top of my list
We've been going about a month or so thru this winter with the Kimbo tank heating and cooking with the propane.outside....we're using an induction hob indoors tho, helps with humidity..
Been watching for years...keep up the great content
Thanks Talon. My Kimbo is sitting outside, ready to keep me warm when the power goes out.
Nice review of the Newport heater, wondering if it could be adopted for marine use… Ever think of adding some boat content? Keep ‘em coming and I’ll keep watching!
I believe they were specially designed for sailboats.. so I would say yes definitely 👍🏻
Great video! Lots of useful info for potential Kimbo owners. Eat those green beans, Son! Could have added them to your soup. Did your water tank ever thaw out?

Thermo couplers are cool Simple tech that most folks don’t understand. I use a propane heater in my cabin with electric baseboard as a backup.

Man, that Kimbo is growing on me. I wasn't feeling it at first, but now I might want one. So thanks a lot.
Do you prefer the propane heater over a diesel heater?
It definitely sounds like it is more efficient on fuel.
Love the videos Talon 🤘🏻 looking forward to having the diamond back cover, Yakima rack and ikamper this summer. The tundra build is coming together

Love all the camping and EDC vids sir. Wondering how the Tacoma handles on the highway with the Kimbo on the back.
With the cold, does your Tacoma have a plug in block heater? And would your battery packs have run it overnight? Not sure what the wattage draw is on a block heater.

Thanks for the information. Can you fit a larger propane tank in there ?
30lb tank is the max
